After Carlo Ancelotti left to Chelsea in the summer, the AC Milan board took a chance with
Leonardo, who played himself to legendary status amongst the Rossoneri fans in mid 90's. On the
pitch, Leonardo was one of the most intelligent players in his era, but he's still unproven as a
coach.
The AC Milan hot seat was probably the most unattractive one for the top coaches in the game, as
the squad is very old, a laughing stock amongst football fans as "the old folks' home for
footballers", so appointing Leonardo was probably the only right decision the board could
make.

It's been a rough week for Silvio Berlusconi. He again tried to joke about the Obamas being
"tanned," he told a journalist he thought was a Milan fan that the club are "a disaster," and then
they proved him right by losing to Zurich in the Champions League. And now, Sky Sports Italia's
Gnok Calcio Show has video of Jose Mourinho looking like he wants to gargle drain cleaner
after having a pleasant backroom chat with the Milan owner the day of last month's derby (which
Jose's side won 4-0).

For years now Milan's name has been synonymous for spectacle. Just like Juventus' always win
without leaving their hearts on the pitch for attractive football, rossoneri were
a symbol of a different approach to football, perhaps not so attractive but with a certain
Brazilian charm.

Before the Serie A season started, AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi
forced Ronaldinho to stand on a table and promise his teammates he would lead them without
question, and that he would help AC Milan recover from the loss of Kaka through good playing. With
Kaka and Ancelotti gone, AC Milan is left with Leonardo, Ronaldinho, and Pato.

So the big question from Serie A this week is, what does Milan manager Leonardo do about
Ronaldinho? Built up over the summer by Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi as the answer to why Milan
never replaced Madrid-bound Ricky Kaká, Ronaldinho looked great on the opening day, but awful in
his sides loss at inter-city rivals [.

The latest Serie A season is now three games in and although it is of course too early to make
any firm predictions, some clear markers have already been laid down. Before the close of the
window it was Juventus who took the lead as the big spenders in Italy, bringing in a number of
players to strengthen the squad, not least of all the Brazilian Diego from Werder Bremen for
£21.

fino a giugno 2010.

Can This Man Own Milan?
For Milan fans, the news was bad enough that they had been trounced by rival Inter while being
watched by their owner and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. However, a rumor circulating
that Berlusconi has been in negotiations to sell the club to Libyan leader Muammar al-Gadaffi adds
to the confusion about whether the team is a serious threat to the scudetto and Champions
League.

Muammar Gaddafi meets with Silvio Berlusconi
As rumours go, this is still one hell of a doozy. Muammar Gaddafi who looks uncannily like Keith
Richards or Geoffrey Rush or an amalgam of the two is believed to be in negotiations to buy out AC
Milan from Silvio Berlusconi.
La Repubblica, the publication that wrote this article is well known for its opposition to
Berlusconi as it espouses a decidedly left wing perspective.

For AC Milan in Saturday's fabled Derby della Madonnina, Gennaro Gattuso's nightmare
came true. If not for Inter's new-look, new-effect attack, poor Captain Rino would be carrying all
responsibility for the unbalanced result (AC Milan 0:4 Inter).
Inter earned three (and perhaps all four) of their strikes, yet more could not have gone wrong
in one half of play for the feisty AC Milan defensive midfielder as he returns from long-term
injury to snatch back his position from the interloping Galaxy star, a certain D Beckham.

What a difference a week makes.
Seven days ago it was the red and black side of Milan who were flush with optimism, stunned at a
reversal in fortunes that had seen their hopes shattered in pre-season and then steadily rebuilt in
Siena.
They had witnessed the first tentative steps of the apparent rebirth of Ronaldinho, they had
seen Alexandre Pato set himself up for what many to believe will be "his" season with two clinical
goals, and they had seemingly allayed any fears that the ageing and aching limbs of Andrea Pirlo,
Gennaro Gattuso, Alessandro Nesta, Gianluca Zambrotta and Marek Jankulovski were a bridge that not
even the confident and bullish Leonardo and the downright brash Silvio Berlusconi could cross.

Not a lot of love going on for Leonardo, Adriano Galliani, and Silvio Berlusconi after Milan's

Berlusconi's call "Milan, believe in yourselves" is answered with derision.
Believe what? The tales of Santa Claus?
But when will we begin to wake up and not give 'even one euro' to this team as long there is
Galliani and Berlusconi?

This is a bit rich. We noted yesterday Michel Platini's announcement that UEFA would demand
clubs break even in the soccer business to enter the Champions League by 2010, and
according to Platini, a leading instigator of this attempt to level the playing field is none other
than that well-known frugal owner, Roman Abramovich.

A tame surrender by Man Utd. Patrice Evra was just awful. I still can't believe he was given the
