2 Out 4 Back

Arsenal View From a Gooner 20 November @ 03:00 PM EST

My head! My head!

My good friend's wedding is tomorrow so this will be a very early match preview of our trip to Sunderland. As it has been known for the past few days, RVP and Gibbs both will miss the game after yet another injury return for an Arsenal player from an international break.

Sunderland preview – lots of ins and outs from the last game

The Beautiful Groan 20 November @ 12:50 PM EST

The final international break of the year is over. How good does that sound?

Real football returns tomorrow, and unlike many Premiership weekends, it is Saturday that looks the tastier of the days. Liverpool and City play each other at lunchtime, United face Everton in the evening, Chelsea are involved and we have a very tricky trip to Sunderland to negotiate.

Arsenal – lightweights or just plain unlucky?

OK Football Finder 19 November @ 01:00 AM EST

As clear as night follows day, summer follows spring, and Phil Brown is a self promoting moron, Arsenal will get themselves in an almighty pickle with injuries long before the Christmas break.

The tradition has been continuing for many a long year, and with the news now of another injury to a reserve left back, Arsene Wenger is going to have to shuffle the pack again to get a team out at Sunderland capable of getting a result.

Left back troubles ease? + New contract for Eduardo & Sunderland’s inferiority complex

Gunners Today 18 November @ 02:38 PM EST

I was just about to compare our current left back conundrum to the one of the 2005 -2006 season. You know the season where like 9 different players played in that position. And just as I was about to research the names the news came up about Gibbs. Incidentally if you are feeling a little curious, feel free to post the names below of those elite band of players.

Last Englishman Not Standing

There's another new name added to the injury list after the conclusion of the England U-21 game last night when Kieran Gibbs limped out of the game after just 20 odd minutes. I do not know for sure the extend of his injury but if it really is a broken metatarsal, it would mean April or May as his return date, which will also effectively mean an early end to what was supposed to be a promising season for me.

A bit before the Chelsea vs Man Utd match

Soccerblog 07 November @ 08:56 AM EST

Drogbalicious.

He takes over everybody
Sinewy hard, on a goal scoring spree

He gallops on the field, on a tear

He is on his way to critical mass
A nuclear weapon laid bare

And underneath his shorts
He turns on twin burners in his arse

He makes Rio look flabby

Silvestre now that was one bemused chappie,

Chelsea are losing, Ancelotti wears a frown

Jose looks a bit Sourinho

Drogba scores two, turns it upside down

We have seen it before, in the FA, CL, and the Prem

I hate to have to say it but Drogba is a s**tstain

(all players except those from Chelsea)
Drogba makes us look like muppets

(one player)
I'd like to say worse:
He gives me gas

(all fans except those from Chelsea weep)

(all fans except those from Chelsea)
He makes us sick to the stomach that Drogba
He gives us gas and it's not the beer we chug
He makes us look like muppets that Drogba

(Sung to "How do you solve a problem like Maria" from the Sound of Music)

Calcio, Serie A: Alle 18 Catania-Napoli.

Fernando Torres faces possible surgery

Soccerblog 03 November @ 03:06 AM EST

The bad news just keeps getting worse for Liverpool with Torres to join Steven Gerrard as a possible candidate for surgery. He has a hernia which could be cured with a long layoff of a month but if symptoms persist then surgery will be the other alternative.

Rafa has no choice but to play Torres in today's match against Lyon at the Stade de Gerland.

A first win against a Big Four side in 2009. Match report.

Arsereview 30 October @ 07:46 AM EST
With Lukasz Fabianski's injury, it is pretty unlikely that a single one of the players involved in Wednesday's Carling Cup match will start the North London Derby tomorrow. As such, it is very difficult to draw any great conclusions from the Liverpool match.
In terms of momentum, it will mean nothing - maybe it will inspire the players for the next round but no more than that. Click to continue reading...

Maddy's Note: Our man Felipe is back, bringing you a great take on thhe Carling Cup encounter which he was THERE for. Who would expect a team of kids to beat a very experienced and solid Liverpool? Mesmerizing Merida Sends Liverpool Out

Arsenal View From a Gooner 28 October @ 05:48 PM EST

The journey continues for Wenger and Arsenal as they knock Liverpool out in the fourth round Carling Cup clash at Ashburton Grove. As it often is with the second cup competition in England, Wenger put his faith in the lesser lights of his squad. Silvestre took the armband with Senderos as his centerback partner in front of the returning Fabianski.

Arsenal 2-Liverpool 1

The Offside - Arsenal 28 October @ 05:07 PM EST

Well, as the Who said, "The Kids Are Alright"

Arsenal beat Liverpool 2-1 to go through to the quarterfinals of the Carling Cup. And look: sure, it wasn't Liverpool's first team, either; we were playing at home; and it wasn't like this was a purely youth team Senderos, Silvestre, and Eduardo can all rightfully be called veterans, and Bendtner, Fabianski, and Nasri are all young but have a lot of first-team experience.

Carling Cup preview – a mix of youth and experience to take on Liverpool

The Beautiful Groan 28 October @ 10:37 AM EST

I remember when top clubs began blooding youngsters and squad players en masses in the League Cup it had always been a competition for a little rotation, but the criticism ran wild when the likes of us and United played entirely different teams from the one that ran out at the weekend.

These days, it is noticeable how different the media message is.

International Break Gives Us Time To Get Healthy

Yeah I probably just jinxed the team, because since I said that they'll probably all get injuries playing for their international teams. Howard Lesson Should Teach Fergie To Keep Foster Faith

Republik Of Mancunia 26 September @ 04:00 AM EST

Tim Howard played a blinder in his first season at United, so much so, he was named PFA Keeper of the Year. It is important to note he fought off competition from Jens Lehmann who had just enjoyed an unbeaten season with Arsenal and Chelsea's Carlo Cudicini, who both conceded fewer goals than him.

Arsenal 2-0 WBA

Strictly speaking, this is no match review. I couldn't listen to the game, I didn't hunt around for a stream in a haystack and I've not got time to watch the re-run on Arsenal.com. So seeing as, at the time of writing, all I've done is flitted in and out of Twitter, I've not got a lot of insight into the game itself.

Tonight sees Arsenal embark upon another Carling Cup campaign when we host West Brom at the Emirates. Injuries to key first team players mean that the likes of Bendtner will not be risked; neither will Rosicky's come back from injury be risked.

Arsenal v WBA: Back to the future

The Goon Blog - an Arsenal blog. 22 September @ 02:43 AM EST

So its Carling Cup time again.

I was going to give you a rundown of any new faces in the squad but somehow I managed to lose every single word I wrote so I'm going to have to do it another way a bit briefer.

Here's the team that may line up:

Szczesny -

Gilbert Senderos Silvestre Gibbs

Ramsey Randall Merida

Wilshere Vela Traore -

There is the chance that Traore could play in midfield, or Merida may play out on the wing but its very hard to predict, I expect Wilshere to be out on the right side of Vela but again, he could slot into midfield.
