Congrats to the Los Angeles Galaxy for claiming MLS Cup glory last night.
What I particularly like about Sunday's soggy outcome is this: For now, at least, we can put
away a lot of arguments about how Major League Soccer works. As I said in our SI.com live chat last
night:
LA Galaxy was the best team in Major League Soccer wire to wire.
This season seems par for course, no?
Worth nothing that in 2008-09, we had a game in hand compared to other teams due to United's
involvement in that UEFA Super Cup silliness.
And were we really 8th in 2006-07 around this time?!?

He may not have made much of an impression at Anfield, but Serbian attacker Milan Jovanovic is
certainly causing a stir in Belgium.
The Anderlecht player faces a whopping five-year ban after firing an imaginary machine gun at
opposition fans during a goal celebration in the clash with Bruges last month.

Union
OK, so you're probably watching EPL right now, but when you get back, here's some stuff to keep
you busy before today's Independence and Union matches.
The Crew have their eyes on Freddy Adu, but not so much as they do upon first place, which
they're hoping to keep in tonight's match against the Union.
Mexican Soccer Fans Celebrate Gold Cup 2011 Victory!I'm not fully sure how to explain it. Maybe
it's because Mexico seemed like the underdog or maybe I was hoping they could win it for their
country, which has been through so much turmoil from the drug wars and could use a little
pick-me-up. Most likely, it's because of their style of play and the joy they gave throughout the
Gold Cup tournament.
3four3 gives you a thumbs up too man
Let's get something straight right off the bat: Dempsey is a quality player. He is one of the
few worthy of representing our country. He has a good touch, a good brain, and is highly valuable
to his club. But World Class?
I know we want one of these badly, but people are reaching and trying to rationalize someway to
place that label on one of our guys.
First of all, let's make an honest assessment about the month of May for the Sounders. Eight
points through 5 matches isn't bad, in fact it is pretty decent. 1.6 PPM would put them 5 overall
on the League PPM table right now. By way of comparison to the last two season, 1.6 PPM though 30
matches is 48 points.
Life doesn't always work the way it should. How else to explain how a show like Joey could last
three seasons before someone kicked the plug on that silliness?
In our soccer world, important decisions aren't always made through high-level board room
discussions and execution of prudent marketing plans.
