goalpost.tv 19 November @ 08:33 AM EST
Image via Wikipedia It's a shock and disbelief for many of the supporters and Irish fans where Ireland's hopes were dashed after the equalizer by William Gallas. Before crossing the ball Thierry Henry was seen to handle the ball twice which was not observed by the sideline officials and resulted in the equalizer. Click to continue reading...

Sodium Advances to OPL Championship

Sodium 15 November @ 04:27 PM EST
ESUFC gave Sodium all they could handle for 60 minutes of regulation in the OPL Semi-Final match. Back and forth all game the play went. Each keeper being called upon keep their team in the game. Play was physical as free kicks were awarded to both teams throughout the game.
In the end it was Jill Farley from her midfield position that brought the ball deep down the left side and ripped what we thought was going to be an awesome cross, INTO THE NET! Click to continue reading...

Fergie Punished For Unfit Comments

English Premier league 13 November @ 06:49 AM EST

Well it has debated by millions of writers all over the world. Was Fergie's comments regarding an apparently out-of-shape referee worth punishment from the FA? And wherever you stand on the topic no longer matters because the debate has ended with a rather surprising ruling.

Sir Alex Ferguson will not be on the sideline for the next two Manchester United matches.

Video: Arsenal take Wolves to the woodshed, 4-1

Soccerblog 07 November @ 07:17 PM EST

Arsenal dance with Wolves.

An own goal by Ronald Zubar gets things rolling. A fine steal by Song puts Aaron Ramsey through as he and Eduardo race ahead. Ramsey passes to Eduardo as they cut off Josh Craddock and then waits for the return because of his clear look at goal. Instead, Eduardo chips the ball over and it deflects of Craddock and loops over Wayne Henessey for the second goal.

Woe is Fabianski

Arsenal View From a Gooner 30 October @ 06:48 AM EST

I may young but you boys can still learn from me

Good Friday to you. Sorry for the late post as I was doing a bit of traveling today.

Most would've expected Fabianski to keep the keeper's jersey for this tomorrow's North London Derby but unfortunately for the Polish custodian, he is again crocked by injury.

Wenger: " We have to kill teams off'

Soccerblog 26 October @ 08:05 AM EST

Arseblog as usual gives an well balanced summation and my two cents is that the "killer instinct" message should be obvious by now. It cannot be emphasized enough but now it needs to be internalized. I also think it comes from a leadership vacuum on the pitch.

This season, most matches need at least two goals for padding.

The Offside - Chelsea 24 October @ 02:08 AM EST

Atletico Madrid presented little in the way of resistance during Chelsea's 4-0 Champions League shellacking of young Kun's temporary home in midweek. Saturday's contest against Sam Allardyce's Blackburn Rovers should prove a different prospect all together.

As Wigan, Stoke and Villa have shown, the Blues are lightweight aerially at the moment.

Simoes Adds To His Woes

Soccer Tickets Online 17 October @ 07:00 AM EST

One thing you have to love about sporting matches is when a coach over-analyzes a situation and then it completely backfires on them. It usually isn't as obvious as say when a player makes a mental error, but the beauty to coaching mistakes is that they were often well thought out which is often the problem with them in the first place.

Tragedy And Turmoil In DC, Turned Into Joy At The End

Can Braga prove ‘the Special Two’ wrong?

SoccerLens 09 October @ 02:50 AM EST

Last season Sporting Club de Braga's manager Jorge Jesus stated that the only way they would ever win the league would be on a Playstation. They had just been beaten by Benfica in Estadio da Luz 1-0 to an offside goal and had been denied two clear penalties.

It was a bodyblow that Braga would not recover from and they ended up finishing 5th but  gaining their sixth consecutive appearance in Europe, a feat few clubs in Portugal have equalled.

USF women dominate Austin Peay 6-0 at home

Against The Run Of Play 12 September @ 08:29 AM EST
Coming into Friday night's match, the South Florida had a problem: only one player on the squad, Noelle Pineiro, had made it onto the score sheet all season. Pineiro had a respectable three goals in four matches, but it just wasn't enough to get consistent results in the standings. Before Friday, the Bulls had just one win in four outings; that and their scoring drought changed against Austin Peay. Click to continue reading...

A Terse Number of Uncompromising Hemingwayan Manliness

The Run of Play - Soccer in Style 10 September @ 07:49 AM EST

1. England. Damn.

2. Argentina. Damn.

3. In light of the wild reversals of fortune seemingly or I would actually think obviously brought about at their respective teams by Capello and Maradona it's a mystery to me how someone like Simon Kuper could argue with a straight face that a manager is a figure of little real importance who could be replaced by a Polish Lowland Sheepdog with no ill effects, since even Steve McClaren seemed to bring with him a whole parcel of ill effects, and regardless of your opinion of Steve McClaren he is presumably a few notches higher on the grand scale of being than even a very well-trained Polish Lowland Sheepdog, although for the sake of argument we have to consider the possibility that England would have been exactly where they are now under Steve McClaren, that all the team were waiting on was some mysterious gelling process and an improvement in Aaron Lennon's crossing, the end result of which would have seen them playing those little plinky through balls to devastating effect regardless of who was on the sideline, whether Steve McClaren or a Polish Lowland Sheepdog, or even Alan Shearer, but to me the whole point is that under Steve McClaren they never actually tried those little plinky through balls, but then what do I know, never having sat in on a single pitch meeting about how Freakonomics could be applied to soccer.

Serie A – Week 2

Serie A Talk 01 September @ 11:54 AM EST

Milan vs. Inter

Could the Derby della Madonnina, the first big derby of the 09-10 season in any European league, live up to the hype? Inter came into the game favorites to win the scudetto after mostly adding to the squad that has won the Serie A four years running. AC Milan did not add much in the offseason, and suffered the huge losses of Carlo Ancelotti, Paolo Maldini and Kaka.

Gennaro’s Bad Day

Serie A Talk 01 September @ 04:30 AM EST

For AC Milan in Saturday's fabled Derby della Madonnina, Gennaro Gattuso's nightmare came true. If not for Inter's new-look, new-effect attack, poor Captain Rino would be carrying all responsibility for the unbalanced result (AC Milan 0:4 Inter).

Inter earned three (and perhaps all four) of their strikes, yet more could not have gone wrong in one half of play for the feisty AC Milan defensive midfielder as he returns from long-term injury to snatch back his position from the interloping Galaxy star, a certain D Beckham.
