Image via Wikipedia It's a shock and disbelief for many of the supporters and Irish fans where
Ireland's hopes were dashed after the equalizer by William Gallas. Before crossing the ball Thierry
Henry was seen to handle the ball twice which was not observed by the sideline officials and
resulted in the equalizer.

ESUFC gave Sodium all they could handle for 60 minutes of regulation in the OPL Semi-Final match.
Back and forth all game the play went. Each keeper being called upon keep their team in the game.
Play was physical as free kicks were awarded to both teams throughout the game.
In the end it was Jill Farley from her midfield position that brought the ball deep down the left
side and ripped what we thought was going to be an awesome cross, INTO THE NET!

Liverpool are bracing themselves for yet more devastating news as Fernando Torres yesterday began
his bid to avoid surgery on his abdominal injury.
The Anfield striker is faced with a three week stint of treatment and therapy to overcome the pain
and restriction of the 'sportsman's hernia', which he has endured for the past month.

Bayern Munich forward Miroslav Klose is being told to stay home.
His kids have swine flu, so the team is putting the 31 year old on quarantine.
Is that virus still around? Glad I missed it (knocks on wood).

Well it has debated by millions of writers all over the world. Was Fergie's comments regarding
an apparently out-of-shape referee worth punishment from the FA? And wherever you stand on the
topic no longer matters because the debate has ended with a rather surprising ruling.
Sir Alex Ferguson will not be on the sideline for the next two Manchester United matches.

Arsenal dance with Wolves.
An own goal by Ronald Zubar gets things rolling. A fine steal by Song puts Aaron Ramsey through
as he and Eduardo race ahead. Ramsey passes to Eduardo as they cut off Josh Craddock and then waits
for the return because of his clear look at goal. Instead, Eduardo chips the ball over and it
deflects of Craddock and loops over Wayne Henessey for the second goal.

Good Friday to you. Sorry for the late post as I was doing a bit of traveling today.
Most would've expected Fabianski to keep the keeper's jersey for this tomorrow's North London
Derby but unfortunately for the Polish custodian, he is again crocked by injury.

Arseblog as usual gives an well balanced summation and my two cents is that the "killer
instinct" message should be obvious by now. It cannot be emphasized enough but now it needs to be
internalized. I also think it comes from a leadership vacuum on the pitch.
This season, most matches need at least two goals for padding.

Atletico Madrid presented little in the way of resistance during Chelsea's 4-0 Champions League
shellacking of young Kun's temporary home in midweek. Saturday's contest against Sam Allardyce's
Blackburn Rovers should prove a different prospect all together.
As Wigan, Stoke and Villa have shown, the Blues are lightweight aerially at the moment.

One thing you have to love about sporting matches is when a coach over-analyzes a situation and
then it completely backfires on them. It usually isn't as obvious as say when a player makes a
mental error, but the beauty to coaching mistakes is that they were often well thought out which is
often the problem with them in the first place.

USAÂ 2-2Â Costa Rica
It took 95 minuets but the US Mens Soccer team seemed to will themselves into finishing atop
their CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying group.
Bryan Ruiz scored a brace within minutes of each other for Costa Rica. Those goals in the 21st
and 24th minute of play capitalized on the few chances the Ticos had been allowed up until that
point.

Well the first serious blow to Real Madrid came, frustratingly, in a World Cup Qualifier over

significant time thanks to Portugal using the injured player due to their desperate position

and try to play a match that honestly didn't mean anything, since they already qualified in
Honduras for the World Cup.

Last season Sporting Club de Braga's manager Jorge Jesus stated that the only way they would
ever win the league would be on a Playstation. They had just been beaten by Benfica in Estadio da
Luz 1-0 to an offside goal and had been denied two clear penalties.
It was a bodyblow that Braga would not recover from and they ended up finishing 5th but Â
gaining their sixth consecutive appearance in Europe, a feat few clubs in Portugal have

Coming into Friday night's match, the South Florida had a problem: only one player on the squad,
Noelle Pineiro, had made it onto the score sheet all season. Pineiro had a respectable three goals
in four matches, but it just wasn't enough to get consistent results in the standings. Before
Friday, the Bulls had just one win in four outings; that and their scoring drought changed against
Austin Peay.

1. England. Damn.
2. Argentina. Damn.
3. In light of the wild reversals of fortune seemingly or I would actually think obviously
brought about at their respective teams by Capello and Maradona it's a mystery to me how someone
like Simon Kuper could argue with a straight face that a manager is a figure of little real
importance who could be replaced by a Polish Lowland Sheepdog with no ill effects, since even Steve
McClaren seemed to bring with him a whole parcel of ill effects, and regardless of your opinion of
Steve McClaren he is presumably a few notches higher on the grand scale of being than even a very
well-trained Polish Lowland Sheepdog, although for the sake of argument we have to consider the
possibility that England would have been exactly where they are now under Steve McClaren, that all
the team were waiting on was some mysterious gelling process and an improvement in Aaron Lennon's
crossing, the end result of which would have seen them playing those little plinky through balls to
devastating effect regardless of who was on the sideline, whether Steve McClaren or a Polish
Lowland Sheepdog, or even Alan Shearer, but to me the whole point is that under Steve McClaren they
never actually tried those little plinky through balls, but then what do I know, never
having sat in on a single pitch meeting about how Freakonomics could be applied to
soccer.

Milan vs. Inter
Could the Derby della Madonnina, the first big derby of the 09-10 season in any European league,
live up to the hype? Inter came into the game favorites to win the scudetto after mostly adding to
the squad that has won the Serie A four years running. AC Milan did not add much in the offseason,
and suffered the huge losses of Carlo Ancelotti, Paolo Maldini and Kaka.

For AC Milan in Saturday's fabled Derby della Madonnina, Gennaro Gattuso's nightmare
came true. If not for Inter's new-look, new-effect attack, poor Captain Rino would be carrying all
responsibility for the unbalanced result (AC Milan 0:4 Inter).
Inter earned three (and perhaps all four) of their strikes, yet more could not have gone wrong
in one half of play for the feisty AC Milan defensive midfielder as he returns from long-term
injury to snatch back his position from the interloping Galaxy star, a certain D Beckham.

Houston's CONCACAF Champions League group stage match in Panama against Arabe Unido was at best a
bad anomaly and at worst a shambolic example of what a complete joke CONCACAF is.
