Reality Bites for Spearing

A Liverpool Thing 22 October @ 07:00 AM EST
If Jay Spearing needed a lesson in the fickle nature of football fans, he certainly got it this week. Given the Lucas Leiva's continuing unpopularity, Spearing somehow became not only a viable alterative for the Brazilian but also a better player. A sort of 'he can't be any worse than him' attitude took over. Click to continue reading...

Gossip on the Guys: More Modeling For Leo

Barcelista 21 October @ 01:11 PM EST
Leo Messi's getting to be quite the little model, isn't he? We don't know when he found the time to do this what with the insanely hectic football schedule right now, but here he is in a photo-shoot for LadyStork shoes, for the second time.
We still can't get over how dorky that name is, but Leo manages to come out anything but dorky with these casual poses. Click to continue reading...

Wolff Loses Shirt in Contest

Hillcrest Road 14 October @ 05:37 PM EST
Today, the Wizards first teamers wrapped up the training session with a finishing drill led by Interim Head Coach Peter Vermes. The last one to finish a cross would have to do something embarrassing, so everyone put their game faces on. The last one to finish? It was Josh Wolff. Sources tell us that the balls played to our leading scorer might not have been as easy to finish as balls played to some of the other players, but you can never trust sources completely, can you? David Beckham Goes Trekkie For New Ad

The Footie 30 September @ 10:52 AM EST

It seems that David Beckham will do anything these days to be in an advertisement. I would have expected more underwear posters but this time it will be in a Star Trek outfit. Beckham and Noel Gallagher of Oasis were seen at a London photoshoot dressed as undisclosed Start Treck Characters.

It's still unknown what the commercial was for except that it will involve Beckham, Gallagher, Ian Brown, Snoop Dogg, Agyness Deyn and Daft Punk.

And while the Fire disappointed with a 2-2 tie that effectively knocked them out of the race for the Supporter's Shield, Mapp was a bright spot, looking dangerous and providing an assist in the draw.

Lucas Feeling The Love At Anfield

Anfield Talk 15 September @ 12:19 PM EST
Brazilian midfielder Lucas believes he is winning over the Liverpool fans after being given a tough time by sections of the Anfield crowd last season.
The 22-year-old's form dipped during the Reds' prolonged spell of poor home form which eventually cost them the title.
Lucas has burst back onto the scene this season however as a stronger and more determined player who has even handled the tough job of stepping into Xabi Alonso's shoes. Click to continue reading...

Fairplay Day flop

The Beautiful Game (2) 11 September @ 06:25 AM EST
FIFA's international Fairplay Day didn't go so well in China.

Continuing Partnership

Down the Byline 10 September @ 09:24 PM EST
I'm continuing my partnership with Soccerpro.com, last year I reviewed a pair of their Nike Mercurial Talaria IV FG shoes. Tonight I'm reviewing the 2009-2010 Manchester United Away jersey from Nike. While they are not my top team any more, United was the first professional soccer team that I followed and became a fan of back in the early 90's. Click to continue reading...

Our Gear Still Sucks

The Offside - Liverpool 08 September @ 09:00 PM EST

One of the first posts I ever made was about how official gear from the stores in the USA is just awful. There's not really any selection and it looks like the merch that is sent here are only the things that wouldn't sell in the UK. As excited as I am about piggy banks and slippers, I would really appreciate it if someone would throw us a t-shirt that looked cool.

Geoff Cameron's Goal Celebration Sponsored by Dr. Scholls

The Offside Rules 04 September @ 04:20 PM EST
We all know you get a yellow card for taking your shirt off but what's the rule on freeing your feet? Is there a precedent? And since there are two shoes do you get two cards? Who should start?

White Hart Pain 28 August @ 09:01 AM EST

The Tottenham team has pretty much been picking itself in the league since the opening game of season, but after some good performances from the fringe players at Doncaster on Wednesday, do any of them deserve to start at the Lane against Birmingham tomorrow?

It's a hard one for Harry Redknapp because on paper, Birmingham at home should be an easy 3 points.

DTotD: Choking on gum

Dirty Tackle 27 August @ 12:35 AM EST

Aloisio, a striker for Brazilian second division club Vasco da Gama, was making his debut as a starter on Tuesday when he nearly died as a result of chewing gum while playing. Seriously. And no, the Brazilian second division isn't a part of the Special Olympics.

Aloisio went up to challenge for a high ball, but instead butted heads with the opposing player in front of him while the ball went over both of them.

The 13th Law of Soccer deals with "free kicks". Now, to those of you youngsters out there, free kicks are not the equivalent of a ridonculous sale @ Rackroom Shoes. No, they refer to the kicks soccer players take after penalties.

Now, Law 13 only deals with direct and indirect kicks and leaves the 14th Law to cover PKs.
