How could you sack those puppy dog eyes? (Source:

I've never been skeptical or wary of Mick McCarthy. Maybe it was because anybody would do a better job than Glenn Hoddle did, maybe it was because I enjoyed what he did with Ireland in the 2002 World Cup, or maybe I just had a good feeling about him.

Chelsea 3-3 Everton - Only ourselves to blame.

Well that was another two points dropped yesterday in our pursuit of the Premier League title and luckily enough Villa did us a favour and beat Man United, which stretches our lead at the top of the League to three points. Again, it was a chance to increase our lead at the top but our defending from set plays cost us.

Lineups are in:

Arsenal: Starters: Szczesny, Eboue, Koscielny, Djourou, Clichy, Diaby, Wilshere, Walcott, Fabregas, Nasri, Van Persie Bench: Lehmann, Gibbs, Squillaci, Arshavin, Song, Chamakh, Bendtner

Liverpool: Starters: Reina, Aurelio, Flanagan, Carra, Skrtel, Spearing, Lucas, Meireles, Kuyt, Suarez, Carroll Bench: Gulacsi, Robinson, Kyrgiakos, Shelvey, Cole, Maxi, Ngog

No real shockers in our team Sagna was not able to pass his fitness test, so Eboue comes into the lineup, and Song is apparently not well enough to play, so Diaby comes back into the team after a very good performance last weekend.

Welcome to the first 'Groan in Brief', a look at recent events that may or may not have anything to do with Arsenal the focus of these pieces will be on any current football stories that I feel like commenting on. Expect the FA, FIFA, UEFA and Jamie Redknapp to be regular targets of ridicule.

The international break seems like a good time to start, given that there's no Arsenal news filtering through, at least until the matches themselves leave the whole squad crippled, so let's get on with it.

Underwhelming in both tactics and performance, an embarrassing defensive collapse allowing a mediocre Atletico a solitary early strike, and Liverpool still should have finished level, but saw Benayoun's 19th minute "goal" wrongly ruled out.

Dallas took a hit by losing both Dax McCarty and Atiba Harris. (Getty Images)

The expansion draft has come and gone, rather quickly I might add. Both teams have made their selections and its clear that both had a goal and stuck to it throughout the draft. Vancouver selected very offensively and pretty much have given us reason to believe they'll be relying heavily on their D-2 defense from this past season that was very good in the D-2 league.

TiTi is running the Manhattan media gauntlet this morning and I wish him well. If his appearance on Morning Joe is anything to go by I'm sure he's in for a few shockers in regard to the inanity of some morning TV hosts. This is a long clip but stick with it if you can to the part where they begin talking about the attractiveness of soccer players and push the awkward-meter to 11; the look on Henry's face just says it all.

For the record, I don't give a crap about the Beatles Rock Band Game.
