Newcastle United Go Top of the Championship

A Newcastle United Blog | Howay the Toon 02 November @ 10:18 PM EST

There aren't many things worse than what's happened to our club over the past week or so, and I was hoping that it wouldn't have too much of an impact on the NUFC players. Fortunately (and rather fortuitously), they battled to a hard fought victory over Sheffield United.

The Blades made the Newcastle players work hard for this victory, which on another day, could so easily have gone against us.

Blargins Injury Time 10 July @ 09:31 AM EST

With plenty of rumours and names being branded around, we finally seem to be having some definitive action on the transfer front.

Today, Sheffield Utd have announced that they have given defender, Kyle Naughton permission to speak with Everton after an acceptable bid was made.

Secondly, a protracted transfer for Man City's Brazilian forward Jo has also been under negotiation all week.

We’re nearly there, but is that good enough?

Arsenal Insider 27 June @ 01:00 AM EST

On the 2nd of December, 2008, Arsenal lost a game 2-0 in the North-Western English <?xml:namespace prefix = st1> county of Lancashire. In a season with far more ostentatious slip-ups (excuse the pun), this may seem a fairly innocuous event. However, it is one of great importance, as when Kevin MacDonald put two past us to knock us out of the Carling Cup; he underlined something that many of us have failed to perceive.

It's been a bit quiet on the transfer front of late, what with the hierarchy on hols and the window not opening until July, but the past week have seen a couple of strong rumours regarding players into and out of Everton.

Firstly, Joleon Lescott appears to be the subject of a £16 million bid from Man City.

The Premier League will look a little different next season

Only Time Will Tell 25 May @ 04:45 PM EST
I started watching the Premier League in the mid-90 and there have been a couple of things that have stayed the same during that time. The Champions League representative almost always come from the Big Four, Liverpool will not win the title, and Newcastle United will pack St. James for any game. But next year that will not happen as the Toon were relegated yesterday afternoon after falling to Aston Villa 1-0. Click to continue reading...

It's hard to image that 20 years had past since that tragic day in Sheffield.

This was probably the first time such a human tragic event unfolded in front of my own eyes, on television.

Soon after Peter Beardsley missed a chance to give Liverpool the lead in this ill-fated FA Cup semi-final match, the TV cameras switched the attention of the millions viewers to Leppings Lane terrace, where the tragedy happened.

Can Newcastle Really Go Down?

All season long the relegation battle has made pundits around the world look foolish. Betting Recommendation: Sunderland vs LiverpooL

Anfield Talk 16 August @ 04:16 AM EST
Spain broke their major tournament jinx in the summer, so now Liverpool will do the same, right? Well, if they are to win the title for the first time in 19 years, a good start will be essential.
However, starting well is not something the Reds really do. Last season's win at Aston Villa was their first on the opening day in five years - and it should be remembered a crass refereeing error gave them the points that day. Click to continue reading...
