Hold on, calm down, deep breaths.... hear me out, then shout/speak/swear !!
Before I start my reasoning, if you can call it that, I want to say how much I love Robin to
bits, he is just the kind of Captain the club needed after being diddled somewhat by the last few.
His goals this year, in particular this season, have potentially saved us from a major crisis.

Newcastle United Managing Director Derek Llambias serves up an expletive-ridden speech against
Keegan, Shearer, Hughton and Carroll. Amidst all the furore of stadium renaming, you'd think one of
the things our Managing Director would try to do is talk around the fans and sweeten them up to the
whole fiasco.

Wayne Rooney is often considered one of England's brightest talents, however, there is one thing
that stands in his way of following in the footsteps of fellow legends Allan Shearer and Paul
Gascoigne - his temper.
After last month's horror lash out on Miodrag Dzudovic during the 2-2 draw with Montenegro in a
Euro 2012 qualifier, it became apparent that Rooney has a problem handling his anger.

Graeme Souness didn't pull any punches when discussing Carlos Tevez on Sky last night. In a
refreshing antidote to the usual boring, clichéd responses of UK TV pundits, the former Liverpool
man labelled the Argentinian "a disgrace to football".
Viewers of RTE television in Ireland will be used to this kind of no-holds-barred pundity.

And really, you could replace "football pundritry" with "soccer blogging," replace all the
pundits listed with your favorite writers, and the piece still works:
The best way to comprehend football is to sit in a stand with the whole pitch laid
before you and immerse yourself for 90 minutes.
Politics and Personality in Sport: In the Commercial Era, Does Tradition Matter? is a post from:
Just Football
by Chris Woolfrey
In the last piece I wrote for Just Football I retold the story of Matthias
Sindelar, the Austrian footballer who symbolised, in part, a nation's defiance of their Nazi
occupiers; an archetype of Austria's considered and poetic passing game.
Way, way back, many years ago, not long before the Premier League began, yes kids we did have
football in the 1980s, Gillingham played two home games. First up was Southend United who they beat
8-1. Next came Chesterfield, who James The Gill tells me, hadn't conceded a goal all season. Didn't
matter to a rampant Gills who put 10 past them without reply.
The stories that broke just before midday on January 31st 2011 turned out to be the ones
concluded last as Liverpool and Chelsea spent big trying to revive their ailing fortunes. For
Liverpool, the consternation at having lost proven goalscorer may be assuaged by the promise of
Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez, two players with an opportunity to prove their potential on the big
stage – and after the Hodgson saga and some stagnation under Benitez, Anfield could once again
become the big stage.
