Santa Clara, Calif. -- Seattle Sounders FC walked onto the field at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa
Clara with a six-game unbeaten streak. They would not leave the pitch with a game added to that
streak, as the San Jose Earthquakes dismantled them, 4-0, Sunday afternoon.
Earthquakes keeper Joe Cannon notched his first, as well as the team's first, clean sheet of the
season in keeping one of the most potent offenses off the scoreboard.

It was a tale of two halves at Buck Shaw Stadium on the campus of Santa Clara University on
Saturday night.
Well, really one-third in favor of DC United; two-thirds in favor of the San Jose Earthquakes as
the two sides drew even after the full 90 minutes, 2-2.

Chicago tries to continue climb in WPS standings

Today was one of the few home games I didn't attend at the Home Depot Center, and the No. 1
ranked LA Sol suffered a loss at the hands of the Saint Louis Athletica. Would the outcome have
been different had I been there? Probably not but I still feel a bit guilty.
Despite the loss, the Sol remain in first place the WPS standings at 11-2-4 (37 points), while
the Athletica tighten their grasp on second with a 23 points and 7-5-2 record.

Cristiane scores in 2nd straight; Chicago nets another draw
The Chicago Red Stars kept their unbeaten road record intact Sunday as they played FC Gold Pride to
a 1-all draw in Women's Professional Soccer action at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.

How low can they go? The San Jose Earthquakes lost their fifth consecutive game, 2-1 against the
Columbus Crew Wednesday evening; they haven't won since March 28; they have just three goals on the
road this season and are 0-5-0 away from their home field, Buck Shaw Stadium. They are the worst
team in MLS, and there's no indication that San Jose can reverse their fortunes—at least until
Darren Huckerby returns from a quad strain.

Don't expect any big names for tonights game folks (not like it matters since it won't be
televised). The struggling Red Bulls are taking on an equally inept San Jose side, as both teams
hope to find a silver lining in this mire of frustration.
With both clubs primarily focused on righting the ship late into the season, the big guns should
be getting a rest, and some bench players will have the opportunity to see the pitch and possibly
compete for starting minutes in the process.
