The way that the fixture list is falling at the minute may well feel like the worst possible timing for Arsenal fans and to be fair it is far from ideal for us to have to face a north London derby with Tottenham and a trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United in the [...]
While most Arsenal fans, if not all of us, have been enjoying the trials and tribulations of our old Premier League rivals Manchester United ever since the red nosed devil Sir Alex Ferguson stepped aside as their manager, a lot of us are still surprised that they still have not managed to get it together [.
One of the reasons for the frustration of so may Arsenal fans last season, despite the fact that we ended up in second place which was the highest placed finish this decade, was the feeling of a chance wasted. There was also a feeling that the chance might not come again as our big Premier [...]
The Arsenal left back Kieran Gibbs has been rewarded for his club form for Arsenal today with a call-up to the England senior side by the manager Roy Hodgson. It is the latest step for Gibbs as he tries to finally make the progress in the game that his talent as a youngster suggested, but [...]
For Arsene Wenger to be speaking of Calum Chambers in terms of what he might bring to Arsenal, is almost as good as seeing the transfer officially announced on the Arsenal website. So I am assuming that the 19-year old will be announced as a new member of the Gunners this week. But, depending on [...
I know it is frustrating being an Arsenal fan at times, especially when the season has finished and most clubs seem to busy in the transfer market. It is easy for us to think that Arsene Wenger has just gone on holiday and has forgotten the fact that he needs to sign some players to [...]
The Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has had a torrid season since his injury with the England team earlier this year, and he was only used sparingly by Roy Hodgson in Brazil. His career has been blighted with injuries ever since he exploded onto the scene as a precocious 16 year-old. Now he realises that he [.
Arsenal will travel to face Southampton at St Mary's in what should be a tight game, despite the Saints sitting in the relegation zone. Arsenal will look to kick off the New Year in style and continue to push up the table with 5 consecutive wins.

While few could've predicted how it would happen, it would be hard for anyone to be surprised by
what the San Jose Earthquakes pulled off Saturday night.
In what has become the latest in a series of astonishing late heroics by San Jose, Steven
Lenhart scored a 93rd-minute winner to stun the Seattle Sounders and earn the Earthquakes a 2-1
victory at Buck Shaw Stadium.
There are just four matches on the MLS schedule tonight, but three of them are battles between
teams thick in the playoff race.
The Seattle Sounders will look to move past the disappointment of losing in the U.S. Open Cup
Final when they travel to San Jose to take on an Earthquakes side coming off a bye week.
Saturday night's 7:30 PM KONG televised game between the Seattle Sounders FC and the San Jose
Earthquakes could be Seattle's last chance at the top of the Western Conference. With the one game
in hand, two games against the 'Quakes and only seven points difference, this is the chance that
any team asks for within their season.
Wondolowski upped his season total to 17 goals this past weekend, netting a hat-trick and
delivering an assist that inspired the San Jose Earthquakes to a 5-0 dismantling of Real Salt Lake
at Buck Shaw Stadium on Saturday. Wondolowski's performance helped him surpass his goal-scoring
total from a year ago and has him one shy of his career best, and it is the reason he won SBI's MLS
Player of the Week award.
The road to the U.S. Open Cup title may very well go through Seattle again.
Should the Seattle Sounders defeat the San Jose Earthquakes in Tuesday's Open Cup quarterfinal,
the three-time defending tournament champions would host the semifinal match against either Chivas
USA or USL Pro's Charlotte Eagles at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, Wash.
One of the powers of the midseason knockout tourneys is the appeal of the underdog advancing. We
can pontificate over what quality of lineup should be used in the matches framing the late knockout
rounds as well. Today the US Soccer Federation announced the potential hosts for the Semifinal
round of the US Open Cup.
Last week Ryan and I shared our competing analyses projecting what the MLS table is likely to
look at by the end of the season. While there were some minute differences between our approaches,
one trend seemed to be present in both models. Two groups are emerging in the Western Conference
this year: a group of five teams that look set to take the playoff spots, and a group of four teams
that might be out of the running long before the season ends.
Whichever history making side advances from Tuesday's match at Starfire (on FSC) they will then
go on a road trip. Both the Seattle Sounders and Cal FC would face the winner of the Minnesota
Stars at San Jose Earthquakes game. That quarterfinal match would be on June 26th. There is an
oddity in the announcement as the Earthquakes would not be hosting at Buck Shaw, but instead at
Kezar Stadium.
Manchester United are being linked with a £10m move for Southampton left-back Luke Shaw if Everton refuse to sell Leighton Baines to them. The champions' "derisory" £12m bid for Baines has not endeared them to Everton. The Toffees could now make a point of refusing to sell the England full-back to former manager David Moyes.
Southampton starlet Matt Targett is being tracked by Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool, Goal.com understands. The 17-year-old left-back is regarded as one of the jewels of the Saints academy and the long-term successor to Luke Shaw, whose own future is the subject of intense speculation. Shaw has been consistently impressive in the Premier League this season, and boss Nigel Adkins felt compelled to warn off potential suitors before he again caught the eye in Tuesday's goalless draw with the Gunners.
With the whirlwind that was yesterday and the close of the transfer window behind us, it's time
to look forward to tonight's game. Unfortunately I didn't hear back from the Quakes blog editor for
a 3 questions exchange. Instead, I am here this morning to bring you a preview with a few things I
will be looking for in tonight's match up.
I don't know if it's the hot weather or the long slog of the season finally catching up to the
league's defenders. Or maybe it was the fact that Chivas didn't play this weekend. But for whatever
reason, this past week was all about goals.
Eight of them at Jeld-Wen Field, five at Buck Shaw, another five in Toronto, and four in New
York.
The Parkview Alumni will be holding their Annual Game on Saturday July 21st this year. A
Facebook event has been set up for the game which will be held at JFK Stadium. It's open to all
former Parkview soccer players and will be from 7:00 9:00 pm.
