After four NBA Championship rings, six teams, 19 seasons, 28,596 career points and countless
laughs, Shaquille O'Neal announced his retirement on Wednesday. The 39-year-old made the
announcement via video and posted it on his Twitter page.
"I really, really thought about coming back, but this Achilles' is very damaged, and if I had it
done the recovery would be so long we'd have the same outcome as this last year — everyone
sitting around and waiting for me," O'Neal said.
Shaquille O'Neal has been out injured since February 1st with multiple right foot ailments.
Whenever he's able to get healthy and return, expect him to start at center for the Boston Celtics.
The question is when will Shaquille O'Neal be ready to go. The good news for Shaq and the Celtics
is it sounds like the Big Bostonian should be back within a couple weeks.
