Developing chemistry

It's been clear from the opening two games that Arsenal, like most top teams, are going to have to feel their way into this season. Past post World Cup campaigns have been instructive in this respect. In 1998-99 for instance, Arsenal drew 4 of their opening 5 games after key players such as Bergkamp, Overmars, Petit, Vieira, Adams and, err, Nelson Vivas took part in international football's biggest summer festival.

Monday morning and we pick up the pieces from Saturday's draw with Sp*rs. The main issue, of course, is the injury situation ahead of a busy week in Europe and the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey are both out for Galatasaray and Chelsea, while Jack Wilshere is a doubt after what looked to me, at least, a nasty ankle turn.

Corporal Punishment: Jenks sent to West Ham

Hurrah, it's Friday, and it's a bank holiday weekend here. Just what I need to ease back into the pace, and wetness, of Irish life.

It seems pretty quiet this morning although the big story is the not unexpected news that Carl Jenkinson has been shipped off on loan to West Ham. After adding Mathieu Debuchy and Calum Chambers in the last few weeks, his chances of first team football would have been pretty slim, so it's a move that makes sense on a number of levels.
