Mike Cockerill got his FFA Award this week, and fair play to him. You do the time, 30 years - you
get an award.
I'm no fan of Mike's football analysis, he knows that - his tactical and player movements on and
around the park leave a lot to be desired for this football fan. I grew up in the UK!
Every Sydney resident who loves football should get down to the SFS to watch Terry Antonis this
year.
He's 17 and when he has the ball at his feet he's wonderful to watch.
Won't be long before he's heading overseas at this rate, but if you love football, Australians,
players with skill, a great attitude and wonderful craft - do yourself a favour.
Sydney were value in the first half, pushing hard mainly via Emerton on the left. The ground was
wet and at times it seemed to be raining, leading to spectacles like 2 Roar foul throws in a row.
However, in the second half Brisbane kept the ball clear of Emerton, and Sydney ran out of steam.
The last 30 minutes of the game were not even close as Roar's possession pushed up to 80%.
Takes a special coach to turn people away from watching Sydney FC.
John Kosmina tried, Terry Butcher was very successful and now Championship winner Vitaslev Lavicka
has topped the lot.
Crowds last year were way down - and no football follower I know was surprised.
How could a Championship winning side so dramatically reduce their crowds.
I was sad when Mr Flores left for China, he has so much skill - and then Bernie said Harry wasn't
coming. Harry has a fair bit of skill too - although he may yet turn up.
I'm a Celtic fan and although Liam Miller (not so much skill) signed for former Rangers player
Fergusons' Perth Glory I wasn't that happy about the stars of the new A-League season - albeit a
long long way off.
You may not know that I am currently enjoying some time in the North of Spain. Finding an Internet
connection at this time is a small miracle, but with SPANISH CUP results in & SFS Blog readers in
mind, here is a quick summary of tonights results. Please excuse me if the post is not as detailed
as it is normally.
