The fourth round of group stage matches took place this week and a number of teams booked their
places in the knockout stages. Although after this round of games there are no perfect sides left
in the competition.
Bordeaux dominated Bayern Munich for a second time in a fortnight. They beat the Germans 2-0
with goals from Gourcuff and Chamakh which puts them in the knockout stages.

team will play.

It was just one of those nights. Kind of like the home wins over Sevilla or Slavia Prague match
in 2007. Arsenal came off 3-nil win over Spurs at the weekend, in which they had never really hit
3rd gear, and rode that 3rd gear for much of the Champions League match with AZ Alkmaar on
Wednesday evening.

Valencia fans are nasty fans.

Our Che have lost 1 game all season. 1 Match. We are in 4th and within grasp of the top.
And yet even after a hard win against Malaga the fans complain.
Here are the highlights in case you missed the match.

It was a rare week in La Liga becasue Barca did not win. Don't get too excited because they
did not lose either. But you have to hand it to Osasuna. They have played as well as anyone
recently and they gave the treble winners a battle 1-1 leaving the door open for clubs to move up
the board a few points.

Just several random things going on today, none of which really deserve their own post, so I
figured I would just dump them in here together.
First, Lukasz Fabianski, who many were predicting would become Arsenal's # 1 goalkeeper when he
returned to health, hurt his thigh in last night's Carling Cup fixture and will be out until after
the international break in November.

If the Copa del Rey is played, but hardly anyone cares about it, did it really happen? To say
that some of the La Liga teams think of the cup as a nuisance would be quite an understatement.
With the overloaded fixture list consisting of European and domestic matches, the Copa del Rey is
near the bottom of the top teams' priorities.

I've lost track of the number of times Americans ask me where I'm from, and I mention Wales only
to hear the next follow-up question, which is "Where is Wales? Is that part of England?"
While most US residents get an F in geography (not just from me, but from many scholars), I've
found that soccer fans living in the United States are far smarter than average Americans for the
following reasons:
- Time difference wizards.

Brazilian manager Dunga gave the striker a call-up for next month's friendlies against England and
Oman.
Hulk will be lining up against some of Brazil's brightest stars when he makes his international
debut, as his fellow strikers will be Manchester City's Robinho, Villareal's Nilmar, and
Confederations Cup sensation Luis Fabiano of Sevilla.

Atletico Madrid has struggled for positive results all this season. Well they will be kicking
themselves once again as they had a match in perfect position against Mallorca in extra time. The
squad achieved the draw though with a goal in the remaining minutes from Mallorca 1-1. Sevilla
proved once again to be an outstanding defensive minded squad against Espanyol.

En primer lugar, pido disculpas por la tardanza. El mercado laboral es un sucio candado a mis

muy difícil librarse.
Entrando en materia, hay pocas cosas que decir. Mala, muy mala de hecho, jornada de Champions para

Pep Guardiola cannot believe it either.
After a workmanlike 1-0 victory against Almería and a mediocre showing in their 0-0 draw at the

Champions League against a supposed weaker team in FK Rubin Kazan.

octavos.

Rangers vs Unirea Urziceni
The two bottom feeders of group G are set to face off on Tuesday although I think it is unlikely
either of them will go through to the next round. So, in essence, it is a fight for the Europa Cup
spot.
Rangers have been in absolutely horrendous form of late and need a win to boost their
confidence.

The Yank is off to a fairly mediocre start this La Liga season in weekly picks and currently
sits at 24-14 on the year. Of course Real Madrid losing a few weeks back likely gave many
critics at least one loss and the Yank only missed two games completely and got five correct. So
things are beginning to look up this La Liga season.

So, Cristiano Ronaldo is out up to 4 weeks (which will include 6 matches with Real Madrid) with

just mean it hurts...who knows. I have some thoughts...if you're Portuguese, a Real fan, or
sensitive I might really tick you off:
1) I'm really leaning towards the idea that "an ankle" means "it hurts".

It never fails. Every interlull brings the inevitable 'Cesc-to-Spain' stories. Cesc to
Barcelona, Cesc to Madrid, Cesc to Malaga, etc... Now, apparently, following their loss to Sevilla,
Madrid once again are making noise. Arsenal have reportedly received bids of up to £60m for
Fabregas over the last two seasons and each time the player and the club rejected them.
