Under-20's US National Team coach Claudio Reyna has called in 36 players for seven days of training
starting Monday, January 2nd in Fort Lauderdale. Ramos's squad features 14 professional players,
drawing from Major League Soccer and the Scandinavian leagues currently on break. Roster GK: Jesus
Guzman (Santos Laguna; Dallas, Texas), Daniel Medina Meza (UANL Tigres; El Paso, Texas), Tyler

Vancouver Whitecaps striker Omar Salgado and Real Salt Lake midfielder Luis Gil are among the 36
players called in by head coach Tab Ramos to the U.S. Under-20 national team camp in Fort
Lauderdale this week.
Molde fullback Sean Cunningham, Liverpool signee Villyan Bijev, Nuremberg midfielder Tyrone
McCargo and SC Freiburg midfielder Caleb Stanko were also among the pros called into the week-long
camp in Florida.
A coaching change at FC Ingolstadt led to an early winter break for Edson Buddle, who was sent
home until the new year. The U.S. national team striker isn't going to lay around doing nothing
during the German winter break though. He has headed to London, where he will spend a week training
with West Ham United.
Legendary coach Manny Schellscheidt has been a pioneer in American soccer for decades, and on
Monday he retired from his long-time profession, stepping down as Seton Hall head coach after 24
years.
Schellscheidt spent nearly a quarter century in charge of the Pirates, but he had already
established an impressive coaching resume even before that.

For the second straight week, the top teams in the nation suffered through some shocking upset
defeats.
In its penultimate game of the regular season, top-ranked Maryland lost to Clemson, 2-1. The
Terps had a man advantage for much of the match, but Clemson was able to exploit the makeshift back
line Maryland used, scoring twice in the second half to win the game.
Richie Williams, who won three MLS titles as a player and coached the New York Red Bulls as an
interim coach on two separate occasions, has been named the head coach of the U.S. under-18
national team, replacing Mike Matkovich.
Williams is the third coaching appointment to the U.S. youth national team program since Jurgen
Klinsmann began his tenure as men's national team, but he has close ties to Klinsmann's two
predecessors, Bruce Arena and Bob Bradley.

Another week, another new No. 1 team atop the Fox Soccer/SBI NCAA Top 25.
The University of Connecticut is the latest to claim the top spot after beating Boston College
Tuesday night to improve to 7-0 on the season. That result, combined with previous No.
The University of Maryland's perfect start is a thing of the past.
Using a defense-first mentality, Seton Hall held the nation's No. 1 team (Fox Soccer/SBI) to a
0-0 draw in New Jersey Tuesday night.
Maryland outshot Seton Hall 23-6 and had a 13-0 edge in corner kicks, but the Terrapins (7-0-1)
couldn't break through and were held to less than two goals for the first time all season.

A loaded slate of quality soccer action is headlined this week by a battle that should go a long
way in determining just who has the best team on the West Coast.
UCSB, currently ranked No. 5 in the Fox Soccer/SBI Top 25 with a 4-0-1 record, takes on an
11th-ranked UCLA team that is beginning to bounce back from a dismal start to the year.

High-scoring Maryland is the new No. 1 team in the Fox Soccer/SBI NCAA Top 25 rankings after
improving to 6-0 while former No. 1 North Carolina slipped up last weekend against Virginia
Tech.
Former Georgetown University men's soccer coach Keith Tabatznik was inducted into the Virginia-DC
Soccer Hall of Fame this past weekend. He is one of the first people associated with the Georgetown
program to earn a spot in the Hall of Fame. Tabatznik was one of three people inducted for
Meritorious Sevice and one of eight 2011 inductees.
