After my piece in defence of Aaron Ramsey on Sunday, it seemed only fitting that whoscored.com
would publish this piece today, which looks at the Premier League's most creative players since
2007.
It divides the number of minutes played by the chances that a player created from open play,
producing a mixture of expected and surprising results.
Craig Bellamy once again starred for Liverpool as they booked their place in the League Cup
final with a 2-2 draw against Manchester City. This resulted in Liverpool winning the semi-final
3-2 on aggregate.
Liverpool were the dominant team in the second leg of the semi-final and if it wasn't for the
heroics of Joe Hart Liverpool could quiet easily run away with the game.

Ahead of Manchester City's League Cup semi-final against Liverpool, Sergio Aguero has revealed
that Michael Owen was his hero when he was younger.
"One of the players who was my idol when I was a boy was Michael Owen," he said.
"He was quite small and had an eye for goal, just like me.
Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has revealed that former Liverpool striker Michael Owen was
one of his great footballing inspirations when With 14 goals and 4 assists in 21 games this season,
Aguero is proving to be one of the best strikers in the league, and in a recent interview, the
Argentine spoke of his admiration for Owen: "I'm not so much a fan of Liverpool, but one of the

The real issue with Mario Balotelli isn't his 'swag', abrasive nature or
arrogance for that matter. The real issue with Mario these days is that he's
turning into the Lady Gaga of football. Of course, the issue of kicking
Scott Parker in the head yesterday (in City's 3-2 defeat of Spurs) isn't something
that should surprise you at all.

The German Bundesliga kicks back into full gear this weekend, and with it could come a direct
head-to-head duel between a pair of U.S. men's national team players.
Steve Cherundolo and Fabian Johnson could do battle when Hannover 96 and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim
resume their Bundesliga campaigns on Saturday.
Cutting through the exotic monikers of Premier League imports Manchester City fans are hoping that
this could be their season to win the Premier League. And they've already good at least one good
omen on their side thanks to the Premier League Name Translator. That's right, Sergio Aguero is
Serge Omen.
Brazil has announced a massive US Tour for this summer in which they will play the USA, Mexico
and Argentina between May 30 and June.
With no World Cup qualifying for Brazil, they are the host nation in 2014, these three games
will be important matches for Brazil as they get ready for the Confederations Cup in 2013.
Antonio Conte has been the driving force of the Juventus revolution with his aggressive 4-3-3
formation. Essential to the attack are the wingers as not only do they offer more of a threat in
the attack, they offer support for the striker as well as take attention away from the middle.
Conte inherited one of his wingers in the form of Simone Pepe, but the other wing was left vacant.

A week after falling 3-0 to Manchester City in the league, a Liverpool side without two of their
top players returned to face a City side missing three of their best for the first leg of the
League Cup semi-finals.
Manchester United legend Paul Scholes made a shock return to Manchester United's midfield eight
months after his retirement in yesterday's FA Cup clash with Manchester City. OTP decided to run
the rule over Scholes' second debut with the aid of the Performa Sports iPad sports analysis app.
So here's a statistical look at Scholes' influence [.

The FA Cup has lost some of its prestige with the rise of the Premier League but Sunday's clash
between Manchester United and Manchester City was a glimpse at the drama knockout competitions can
provide in a 3-2 win for United.
United were up by three goals before halftime thanks to two goals from Wayne Rooney and a
stunning strike from Danny Welbeck.

The FA Cup third round saw very few shocks this weekend but did see some interesting results and
a bit of controversy along the way.
In the tie of the round cup holders Manchester City lost in the derby match against record
holders Manchester United by three goals to two.
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish called on his team to be more clinical after they were defeated
3-0 by Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
The visitors enjoyed a large share of possession but again failed to make it count, which has been
their Achilles heel for most of the season.
It was Liverpool's first game without Luis Suarez after the club decided against appealing his
eight-game ban for racially abusing Patrice Evra.
This is the exact pose Sergio Aguero makes on the way to the Manchester Market
every Sunday for tea and biscuits! Can't blame the bloke, he's really enjoying life at the
club.
We know you Scousers aren't entirely happy about losing 3-0 to
Mancini's Men last night, but that's how football is.

Pepe Reina flubbed what should have been a fairly simple stop off a Sergio Aguero drive.
Liverpool dominated possession thereafter but it was City once again going up through Yaya Toure's
header at the half an hour mark.
Gerrard and Craig Bellamy were introduced by Kenny Dalglish after an hour and Liverpool looked
more mobile going forward although they failed to look threatening in the final third once
again.

Sunderland 1-0 Manchester City Premier League 1st January 2012
After seeing Manchester United and Chelsea both lose, and Tottenham drop two points at the
Liberty Stadium, the scene was set at the Stadium of Light for Manchester City's diamond-encrusted
side to move ahead in the race for the title.

West Bromwich Albion 0-0 Manchester City Premier League 26th December 2011
Good old Roy Hodgson and his merry band of Baggies became the first team in the league this
season to stop the Citizens from scoring, after putting on a superb hard-working performance.
Happy Boxing Day! To start off this marvelous day, here's Mario Balotelli's
specially designed Christmas cake complete with an evil looking Santa Claus (is that a
knife on good ol' Noel Noel?!) You see, Manchester City came up with a
pretty brilliant idea where they got players to compete for the title of 'Best Christmas
Cake Decorator'.

While the retaining of David Beckham's services remains up in the air for the Los Angeles
Galaxy, five other players saw their contract situations get a lot clearer on Friday.
Sean Franklin and Bryan Jordan re-signed with Los Angeles, while Adam Cristman's option was
picked up, allowing Bruce Arena to keep key parts of the deep squad that won the 2011 MLS Cup and
Supporters' Shield.
It's Christmas week... la semana de Navidad! In the Premiership,
however, life goes on for Kun Aguero and co', who scored in City's 3-0 victory
over Aston Villa last night. Kun scored a brace, and the goal celebrations had
everything except Dani Alves' brilliant Santa hat.
Manchester City scored three and stayed top of the table. Manchester United score five and
remained in second position. Tottenham and Chelsea, in third and fourth position respectively, play
each other on Thursday night. On the face of it, everything stayed the same. Manchester City first,
Manchester United second, Tottenham third and Chelsea fourth.

Pundits had been queuing up to say that Manchester City were at the top of a downward spiral.
The suggestion was that after going out of the UEFA Champions League, courtesy of Napoli and Bayern
Munich, and then losing to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, the wheels were starting to come off the
great Manchester City roller coaster of 2011.

Manchester City 1-0 Arsenal Premier League 18th December 2011
Shorn of all four full-backs in their squad, it was always going to be a difficult task facing
Arsenal as they headed to the Etihad Stadium.
In a pulsating affair at The Etihad Stadium today, Man City overpowered Arsenal and registered a
1-0 win to go back to the top of the English Premier League. A resurgent Arsenal side that had
forced their way back to the top 10 of the division following a horrific start to the season, were
simply not good enough to slow down a City side that was coming off a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea last
Monday night.
Will Koscielny pocket another multi million pound striker?
When I say horror city, I don't mean Manchester City the team (although I won't be far off with
that). It is of course a return to the City of Manchester where our last visit there for a match
was one to be forgotten. Had this match be immediately after that one, I would be very worried.

The first two of our Christmas gift ideas were, admittedly, a little bit on the shonky side. Who
in their right mind would want a Hannover 96 toaster for Christ's sake? Okay, I would but that's by
the by.
This Yuletide pointer carries with it a smidge more prestige than our previous efforts, in so
far as they're actually presents that the football fan in your life would most likely be
cock-a-hoop at receiving on Jesus' big day.
This should be pretty damn good. As you can see, Mario is dressed for the occasion.

As a player, you have respect for Barcelona but you never have fear. You have to plan for a good
game against them and to try to cause them problems. So no, we do not have any fear of Manchester
City, especially because we're playing at home in this match but we do have the ultimate respect
for them because they're the league leaders.
An analysis by Footy-boots.com have revealed that coloured boots have topped the EPL scoring
charts so far this season, no surprise there then given the outrageous colours on offer to the top
brass these days.
White boot wearers like Robin Van Persie (Adidas Predators), Edin Dzeko (Adidas F50 ), Mario
Balotelli (Nike CTR360 Maestri II ), Yakubu (Nike CTR360 Maestri ) and Daniel Sturridge (Adidas F50
) have racked up 43 goals between them already this season up to today wearing white boots, however
white boots haven't helped Wayne Rooney's scoring touch with the Manchester United striker grabbing
just 1 goal before today out of his nine scored this season so far, with the other eight scored in
blue (Nike T90 Laser ).

In which several of the Manchester City squad gear up for training with a hearty spot of
Christmas cake decorating. Nigel de Jong and Owen Hargreaves in particular excel and Mario
Balotelli is easily defeated by a slab of marzipan icing and a little plastic Santa, all while a
black-eyed Sergio Aguero dicks about in a silly hat (skip to 2:20 mark).
Game week is here and I'm a happy man, I met an old lady who predicted stuff with her fancy
crystal ball and the inquisitive man in me asked her to predict this game week. So here is what she
had to say:
Newcastle V Chelsea:
Alan Pardew's men are on a roll and AVB's men are down in a hole.
