This year's Champions League will obviously go to Germany and it will be the seventh time a German club will be crowned the champions of Europe. Which makes one wonder, how many Champions League trophies have gone to the other top European football nations.

It was a sad Monday night for the British nations at the World Cup qualifiers. England were held to a 1-1 draw by Montenegro despite taking the lead while Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland all suffered defeats at the hands of Croatia, Israel and Serbia respectively.

Following on the lines of my earlier post about Spain‘s football federation chief denying that racism is a problem in Spanish football the Serbian FA have responded to the English complaints about racism in their U21 match in Krusevac last night.

Taking a page from the Spanish FA's manual, the Serbia FA today denied that England players were subjected to any monkey chants or racist taunts in Tuesday European Championship play-off match, claiming instead that the match was played in a 'sports atmosphere full of respecting fair-play spirit'

Instead Serbia blamed England's Danny Rose for all the problems, saying the England player behaved in an 'inappropriate, unsportsmanlike and vulgar manner' towards supporters after being sent off after the final whistle.

Racism rears it's ugly head again in Serbia tonight

England's Under21 football team clinched a spot in next years Under 21 European Championships with a 1-0 win tonight over Serbia but the match ended in ugly scenes sparked off by racist abuse of the black England players by Serbian fans. UEFA has now a serious decision to make regarding disciplinary action against the Serbian footballing community who are habitual offenders in race issues.

"I asked the players: ‘Where were you born? Have any of you ever played in Croatia?' The answer was no," he said. "The players are so young they don't know what we had and what we lost.

In a few hours, the joint leaders of Group A in UEFA World Cup Qualification will meet for what is sure to be a thrilling encounter in Belgrade.

Both Serbia and Belgium enter the match with one draw and one victory respectively, having both comfortably defeated Wales and drawn their other match of the group so far.

As match day three for World Cup Qualifiers gets underway this week, let's take a look at Europe's most difficult group to predict, Group A. After two matches played Serbia, Belgium and Croatia remain dead-locked at the top with four points.

In a perfect illustration of how dysfunctional Uefa is, Europe's regulatory body is appealing the the sanctions imposed on England and Serbia by its own disciplinary body following October's Under-21 game.

Uefa's Control and Disciplinary body had imposed an €80,000 fine on the Serbian FA and ordered their next Under-21 game to be played behind closed doors as a result of the home supporters' racist chanting during the U21 playoff match in Krusevac.

England U21s qualified for Euro 2013 with a slender 1-0 win over Serbia in Krusevac last night, though the match settled by Connor Wickham's injury-time winner ended amid nauseating scenes, with Danny Rose sent-off after the final whistle having been riled by a hail of monkey chants from the terraces.
