It seems like it's almost a given that Harry Redknapp is on his way out of Tottenham – whether
it be immediately or the end of the season – but what really is there for him in the England
job?
Looking at the history of the job it's notorious for tainting the careers of what were otherwise
top managers.
"Check that's not Jackie Chan, will you?" after one particularly high challenge in the African
Cup of Nations (ACN) semi-finals. Ah yes. Gary O'Reilly was back on Eurosport. And welcome back
too. However, the most telling comment of any international football tournament is "no goals
against." And that's a quote from Cote D'Ivoire.
Zambia is into the final of the Africa Cup of Nations 2012 after surprising pre-tournament
favorites Ghana 1-0 in the semi-finals of the competition on Wednesday. Featuring a squad of...
Mirandes, the giant killing third division Liga club bowed out beaten by Athletic Bilbao, 6-2,
in the second leg of the Copa Del Rey (8-3 aggregate). Fernando Llorente showed why he's on the
wishlist of some of the world's biggest clubs by scoring a brace. Athletic also got goals from Iker
Muniain, Markel Susaeta and defender Jon Aurtenetxe.
Co-hosts Gabon looked like it was going to be headed to their best showing in any ACN when Eric
Mouloungui shot them into the lead in the 55th minute. But Mali had other ideas as Cheick Diabate
equalized in the 84th minute. At the end of extra time, with the two teams deadlocked, the fate of
the match was decided on PK shootout.
Captain John Mensah puts Ghana ahead through his third international goal. Saber Khelifa
equalized after beating Samuel Inkoom to a lofted ball. The match headed to extra time and in the
110th minute, Abedi Pele's son, Andre Ayew scored the winner after Tunisia's goalie, Aymen
Mathlouthi coughed up Inkoom's cross right into his path.
Inter's wheels are coming off. After such a strong push to within sniffing distance of Milan and
Juve, they have lost to lowly Lecce, drew Palermo and yesterday, Roma took the lumber to them. Juan
gets the Giallorossi on the board, Fabio Borini's lovely brace follows, and the Bojan Krkic
finishes emphatically to give Roma a thumping 4-0 victory.
Zambia cruised past Sudan, 3-0 to the semi-finals of the ACN, the first time since 1996. Sudan
made things difficult for themselves after Ali Saif Eldin was sent off for his second violation
when he brought down Rainford Kalaba in the 63rd minute. By that time the Chipolopolos (The Copper
Miners) were already a goal up from Sunzu Stoppila.
Didier Drogba could not be denied as he made up for a missed penalty by pouring in a brace.
Ivory Coast added another through Yaya Toure as they send Equatorial Guinea, the co-hosts, out of
the ACN. The Taranga Lions are through to the semi-finals.
Drogba will be missing today's huge showdown with Man Utd, and in his absence, Chelsea is hoping
that misfiring Fernando Torres and Daniel Sturridge, take up the goalscoring slack.
Tottenham's youngsters continued a good week of results at the club with a 1-0 win over
Liverpool to take them into to the semi finals of the NextGen series. The winner came in the second
half, courtesy of Shaq Coulthirst but Spurs had to withstand heavy pressure from the visitors
throughout.
Valencia served a reminder of its proud heritage as a football team holding Barca and then
denied Leo Messi a PK goal in the Copa Del Rey semi-finals first leg.
Jonas gave the home side the lead at the Mestalla but Carles Puyol who seems to have made a
career scoring very important headers equalized for the Blaugrana.

The NextGen Series was always more important for the experience it would provide to Liverpool's
talented youngsters than for the chance to win a trophy, and so in the end one can only consider a
run to the quarter-finals after a testing group stage to have been a success.
As we enter February, the shortest month of the year (let me be the first to remind you that
this year February has 29 days), Valencia's coaching staff must think this is some kind of sick
joke. 8 games in 29 days. It's been done before, of course. But not quite like this. To start the
month, Valencia host Barcelona at the Mestalla in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey.
The buzz surrounding the Spanish Burgos province these days has been remarkable. They are of
course, home to Mirandes, the Spanish third-division team that have made it to the
semi-finals of the Copa del Ray! Mirandes will meet Athletic Bilbao tonight at
their modest 6,000-seater stadium, which was expanded yesterday to accommodate another 1,700
visiting fans.
Here we are on the verge of our 4th round FA Cup tie with Aston Villa, and yet I find
myself still thinking about the substitution of Oxlade-Chamberlin in last weeks 2-1 loss to
Manchester United.
With the way Wenger was talking it makes me wonder if he is getting his apologies, or should I
say his press conference story ready should we lose today against Alex Mc Leish's Aston Villa.
The US WNT overcame early match nerves and a very game Costa Rican team through goals scored by
Tobin Heath, Carli Lloyd, and Alex Morgan. This win qualifies them for the London Olympics. In the
other semi-finals, Canada held off Mexico, 3-1, to also book their spot. The final will be played
tomorrow and pits two of the most potent goalscorers in the game.
Arsenal head into Sunday's FA Cup fourth round clash with Aston Villa on the back of three
consecutive league defeats, but they have still been deemed the favourites by many European
bookmakers to emerge victorious.
Arsenal and Villa last played an FA Cup match nearly 29 years ago at the good old Highbury,
where the Gunners progressed courtesy of a 2-0 win.
Barcelona's Copa del Rey semi-finals win against Real Madrid has been tempered by a growing
injury list that will make their clash against Villarreal on Saturday harder.
Andres Iniesta and Alexis Sanchez both limped off in last night's 2-2 draw, which secured a 4-3
aggregate win.
That means Barca will head to El Madrigal missing six players in total, as David Villa, Ibrahim
Afellay and Andreu Fontas are already injured, while Seydou Keita is at the African Nations
Cup.

"Shhh!!! Don't look at him. If we're quiet, he may go away"
Despite leading 2-1 from the first-leg and going a further two goals ahead by half-time in the
second through Pedro and Dani Alves, Barcelona still found themselves fretting at the Camp Nou as
Real Madrid staged a late-ish comeback attempt that saw Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema draw
Los Merengues level on the night though it was to be in vain, as Barca eventually held out for the
aggregate win that sealed them a berth in the Copa del Rey semi-finals.

The Reds booked their place in the final against Cardiff by playing out a 2-2 draw with City at

Barcelona advanced to the semi-finals of the Copa Del Rey after a 4-3 aggregate win (2-2 draw on
the night) over Real Madrid with goals by Pedro and Dani Alves proving decisive. In an absolute
humdinger of a match, it was Madrid, down 2-1 from the first leg, who got off to the better start

There were amazing scenes in Spain last night, where third tier part-timers CD Mirandés beat La
Liga side Espanyol 2-1 in injury time at the tiny, 6,000-capacity Anduva Stadium to secure
themselves a 4-4 aggregate (away goals) win and a berth in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey in
the process.
The rematch of last week's el clasico between Barcelona and Real

There's nothing a little mid-match Tango won't do for you just ask Valencia's

Copa del Ray win over city rival Levante last night setting up the goals and

In the summer of 2006 Manchester United were written off. Chelsea had just won the league with
ease and added one of the best players in the world for each position to their squad. Ashley Cole,
Michael Ballack and Andriy Shevchenko joined them, whilst in contrast we sold our top scorer, Ruud
van Nistelrooy, and didn't replace him, and brought in Michael Carrick, who was hardly the midfield
general the fans had been hoping for.
Cristiano Ronaldo put Real up in the 11th minute as he took advantage of the gaping hole between
Jose Pinto's legs to swing the ball through after Karim Benzema sprang him free from midfield. That
was it for Real's endeavours. Barca momentarily stunned took over the match keeping Iker Casillas
busy.

their respective title and qualify for a place in next year's edition of the national cup, Copa
