Derby Day: Manchester City v Manchester United - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
A week ago, I spoke of the significance of Manchester United's draw with Everton and how much
the title race had been affected. The impact has been huge; this has been made clear throughout the
footballing world for the last 7 days.
Three unexpected bottoms were planted on the Chelsea bench for last night's game vs. Napoli. We
smell conspiracy, although it very well could've been cake fumes. Images: SkySports.com.
It's a little early in the Champions League knockout stages to start changing up our posting
tactics, but then it's a little early for all the EPL clubs to be knocked out, and that seems to be
on the cards after last night's games.
By the standards used to judge recent red-carded tackles like Vincent Kompany's against
Manchester United and Jay Spearing's against Fulham, on Wednesday night Glen Johnson at the very
least put himself in a position where seeing red was a very real possibility. Maybe even the most
likely possibility.
It's only Monday, but already it's almost time for another match. And for a moment it's almost
as though Liverpool were back in Europe once again, the games coming thick and furious and with
hardly a moment to decompress in between them. Then you remember that Liverpool's last bit of
midweek football was a will-sapping friendly at Rangers, and that this week's sees a trip to Stoke
to face a side renowned for its ability to sap the will of opponents and their fans alike.
Rodgers: The Neverending StoryIn today's installment of the longest-running visa saga in the
16 year history of MLS, the New York Red Bulls reported this afternoon that, after a meeting with
the U.S. Consulate in London, striker Luke Rodgers may be inching closer to securing a work
permit that will allow him to return for a second season with the club.
It's more than three months to opening day, but Dave and Mark are back to share all the RBNY
Offseason news. The SR boys look back at the end of the 2011 campaign, outline MLS' competition
changes for 2012, and review roster comings and goings. Then Red Bulls defender Stephen Keel joins
us to share the state of the club at the end of the season, as well as his off-season training
regimen.
It's a super-sized Seeing Red for an amazing week for the Red Bulls. Dave and Mark talk about
the Seattle loss, the Chicago draw, and the US Open Cup win v FCNY. Then they tackle the imposing
July schedule and the DeRo for Dax trade. THEN they talk with San Jose's GK Jon Busch and have a
mid-season review with Dan of MetroFanatic.
Good Afternoon! It's a dreary one here in RBNY Land. No matter, as the Red Bulls are in the land
where the sun (almost) never shines (Seattle) for a massive, massive league tilt against the
Sounders (10:00pm ET, ESPN2). The Sounders are opening all of the seats, of their just-renamed
stadium, for this one so the atmosphere should be insane.
Another fantastic episode of this RBNY-themed podcast. This week, Mark & Dave discuss the insane
draw @Portland, horrible MLS refs, unsatisfactory goalkeeping/defending & preview the upcoming away
games against Seattle and Chicago. Their guest this week is former Red Bull, current Sounder,
defender Jeff Parke.
It may be Episode 53, but it's the CSRN debut for the Seeing Red: New York podcast! A stunning,
baffling giveaway of 2 points late leaves NY 0-1-5 in their last six matches, and Dave & Mark look
for answers in the draw with Columbus. Then the SR boys talk with RBNY MF Austin da Luz before
answering a super batch of listener mail.

it. Nevertheless, it's another great episode of this RBNY themed podcast. This week, Mark and Dave
discuss the two draws against Colorado and Vancouver and preview the home game against Columbus (a
disaster of a draw, played yesterday).
Arsenal will travel to Anfield on Sunday afternoon, to hopefully secure their first win of the
season in a fixture that has seen a lot of drama in the recent years.
If you look back at the clashes between Arsenal and Liverpool, the hype around them in general has
been deteriorating for the past 2-3 years, a time period coinciding with Liverpool's fall from
title chasers to Europa League drop-outs.
This episode we have Mark Fishkin, half of the dynamic cuo from Seeing Red Podcast, and Luke Lohr,
MLS Reserves lead writer and host of Off the Bench Podcast. We talk about the crazy week of Open
Cup action. Enjoy.

It may not have lived up to Sir Alex Ferguson's billing as the greatest match-up in English
football but Liverpool's draw at home to Manchester United was typically not without incident.
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard was denied a dream return to the starting line-up when his
free-kick midway through the second half was cancelled out by substitute Javier Hernandez's late
header.
It sounds bizarre but for the second season in a row, one of Arsenal's new signings was forced to
end his game prematurely after seeing red, Laurent Koscielny last season and Gervinho yesterday.
Speaking on the ...

In what proved to be one of the must see games of this year's Cup, Germany and France both came out
swinging. A 4-2 result with French keeper Berangere Sapowicz seeing red make this game a nailbiter
from beginning to end. In the final table though, Germany wins the game and the group while both
move on to the knockout round where England takes on France and Germany will face Japan.
