DT in London: Day 1

Dirty Tackle 20 November @ 03:11 AM EST

There's a door next to Lampard's crotch. ... Sounds about right.

Today's lesson: Always tip your taxi driver well. Upon experiencing your awesome generosity and overall wonderfulness as a human being, he just might reveal that he's a season ticket holder and member of the club's gym, where injured players apparently congregate on matchday.

Memories Of Giants Stadium

WVHooligan 06 November @ 06:07 PM EST

I realize that the last official football match to take place at Giants Stadium was almost two weeks ago between the Red Bulls and Toronto FC, but I still figured I'd throw my two cents in on what was once a football mecca in this country. The first thing that comes to mind when thinking about the Meadowlands is very mixed feelings.

What I saw in the first legs of MLS playoffs

DailySoccerFix 02 November @ 09:10 AM EST

I love that mistakes are being punished like so much naughtiness at a Catholic boys school.

I'll have more thorough reviews up later today at ESPN Soccernet and at MLSnet.com. For now, here's a quick review, including a recap of a few killer mistakes:

Columbus vet Frankie Hejduk was snoozing momentarily and allowed too much room for RealSaltLake's Yura Movsisyan, who fed Robbie Findley for a big goal in the RSL-Columbus series.

Hitchcock Out In Dallas

WVHooligan 27 October @ 04:15 PM EST

I just got word from the FC Dallas front office that Michael Hitchcock is out as General Manager. A letter was sent to season ticket holders with the news. In the letter Clark lays out the plan to replace Hitchcock, which includes President John Wagner officially taking over full control operations.

The Football Managers: Poetry In Motion

EPL Talk 23 October @ 03:44 AM EST

Come Sunday, expect the television cameras to be zooming in on the faces of Rafa Benitez and Sir Alex Ferguson as they try to detect whether the pressure is getting to either manager. Attention will be paid to body language and how each manager interacts with one another, what the handshake is like and to make sure they exchange pleasantries after the final whistle is blown.

An Ode to Goals Scored by Beach Balls

A More Splendid Life 20 October @ 06:21 AM EST
As a Toronto FC season ticket holder, I have seen my fair share of junk chucked onto the field. I will even claim responsibility for contributing to it at least once, when Danny Dichio scored that goal and I thought I'd rather be a part of history than some guy with a novelty seat warmer.
But I've never chucked a streamer at a corner-taker, nor have I thrown my half-empty ten dollar beer cup at an opposing forward running along the touch-line to celebrate a goal with no one in particular. Click to continue reading...

Harry's not to blame

THBN - Tottenham Hotspur Blog News 14 October @ 09:18 AM EST
I recently had a chat with Hank, a mate of mine that's a Portsmouth season-ticket holder. He's come along to The Lane a few times and you could say that he know's his football pretty well. The only downer is that he and a lot more Pompey fans blame Harry for their current plight. Now, call me stupid, but how is Harry to blame? Click to continue reading...

Impressive Season Ticket Holder Gift

BREAKING NEWS: Toronto City Hall legalizes grass

the yorkies 30 September @ 06:22 PM EST
Toronto FC and BMO Field took a giant step forward in their progression towards complete football legitimacy today as Toronto City Council, led by season ticket holder Mayor Miller, approved the installation of delicious, real, green grass in time for the 2010 season. The plan still has to pass provincial and federal watchdogs due to their original contributions to the stadium construction but that is not considered to be a major concern. Berks v Herts

thetwounfortunates 29 September @ 07:47 AM EST
With Reading season-ticket holder Lanterne Rouge out of the country, I was handed a Royals freebie for the second time this season on Saturday. Stopping off for a few hours en route to Clapham where I was staying with a Forest fan ahead of the televised Sunday game at Plymouth, I arrived at Reading Station to realise that I had forgotten my toothbrush. Crouch Haters

THBN - Tottenham Hotspur Blog News 24 September @ 07:45 AM EST
Walked in the office today, said hello to Patrick (Spurs Season Ticket Holder) and started discussing last nights game.
Paddy is a great lad, but it does annoy me how he (and others) can be so bleak. He's Spurs through and through, yet hates Crouch. Now, I can understand some Spurs fans not getting behind our players, but this guy dislikes Crouchie with such a passion. Click to continue reading...

The Offside - Kansas City Wizards 22 September @ 01:48 PM EST

I caught this story from one of the Big Soccer forums and thought it was worth looking into. I've always been a big supporter of a team's loyalty to its fans, regardless of the sport and I hate it when they get screwed.

In this era where the MLS struggles to grow its fan base; where we can stay home and watch superb soccer on 4 different channels; and where the only way that soccer as a sports league will survive in this country is with the passion of its fans, teams need to be very careful on how they treat those who visit their stadiums.

LA GALAXY VS. TORONTO FC

Toronto FC makes its annual trip to Hollywood, unless you count Chivas USA - which is Mexican Hollywood, to play the Nu-Cosmos, aka LA Galaxy, aka David & The Beckhams. This may be the last time us Torontos get to see The Beckham Show, barring a post-season miracle, as the tattoo/ coiffure enthusiast looks likely to drift out of MLS this off-season. Leeds United v Liverpool; Two English Giants Reunite in Carling Cup

EPL Talk 17 September @ 05:29 PM EST

Â

Much has been made of the demise of Leeds United AFC. We are all familiar with the tale of gross overspending, Ridsdale's goldfish, and a descent into the third tier of English football. Football supporters have little sympathy for a club that reached the quarterfinals of the Champions League in 2001 and are now playing in League One due to its own negligence.

What Will Spurs Fans Do Now They Have Nothing To Moan About?

Caught Offside 29 August @ 04:00 AM EST

Good times at White Hart Lane

A friend posed an interesting question to me recently, the question was posed in a north London pub late last night, and it was addressed in all sincerity and it was spoken as a lifelong Spurs fan. The question, or more accurately the observation was, "I am a Spurs fan with nothing to moan about, what do I do?

The Sweeper: Despair in Dallas

Pitch Invasion 25 August @ 09:07 AM EST

Big Story

When your club's biggest fan since day one sends an open letter of despair to ownership in lieu of a season ticket renewal, you have serious problems. Dustin Christmann is known to FC Dallas supporters as the "First Fan": a season ticket holder since day one (even though he lives 1,000 miles away from Dallas now) and a founder of supporters group The Inferno, he was given membership number 0001 in Hoops Nation.

I'm giddy as a school girl! I leave for the match in about 3 hours. Since I live in podunk Virginia, it will be a bit of a drive to get to DC. I've even made a sign that may or may not be like the title of this post. If they let me bring it in, it will be across the field from the camera on the left-ish side, near the corner flag.
