Gold Coast 0 v North Qld 2: Tragedy as entertainment

A seat at the A-League 31 October @ 06:48 PM EST
The good news was Robbie Fowler combining with Dave Williams, and a pen, to get to 8 goals this year.
The transport charges issue for the Gold Coast is a furphy. This type of direct cost - ie it is charged per ticket - is simply included in the ticket pricing model. At the start of the season Gold Coast's accountants - who worked out how to get the best squad in the A-League under the cap - would have assumed that crowds were going to be above 5,000 for every match and popped the $3. Fool's Gold

The Footbal Tragic 28 October @ 12:19 AM EST
Given all the glowing publicity surrounding the new Gold Coast United franchise early in the season, including a cloying puff piece on Channel 9's 60 Minutes, this makes particularly depressing reading.
Yes, stadium deals are tricky things. Sydney FC, for one, suffered from an onerous deal with the SFS (Aussie Stadium, as it then was) in the first A-League season, one which was largely responsible for the loss the club made in 2005/06. Click to continue reading...

More bad luck for St Leo women

Against The Run Of Play 02 September @ 08:55 PM EST
As the saying goes, if the Lions didn't have bad luck, they wouldn't have any luck at all.
St Leo's women had their season opener against Webber called because of weather on Monday night. The match had not reached the seventieth minute, so the 1-0 lead the Lions had won't stand. The game will not be rescheduled either. Click to continue reading...
