Seattle Sounders

When you play American football in a ‘soccer-specific stadium’ you tweet like it

Seahawks made sure no one forgot the Chargers are guests in their own home.

One of the fun things about following Seattle sports is how our various sports teams all seem to get along with each other. More to the point, it's great to see that the Seattle Sounders are considered just as much part of this club as any other team, something that has become remarkably easy to take for granted over the years.

Seahawks schedule means no football lines, at least until the Playoffs

Sounder at Heart at related • 0 views

Sharing CenturyLink Field is good (lots of space for fans, branding, downtown location), but sometimes it leads to NFL lines. In 2017 that shouldn't be too much of a problem until the postseason.

Since 2009, the Seattle Sounders have only played with NFL lines on three occasions. In 2017 they will only add to that total of the Sounders make the MLS Cup Playoffs.

CenturyLink Field To Have Seahawks Logos, Not Football Lines

In a decision that was admittedly a compromise between the NFL and MLS portions of the combined organization the Seattle Sounders will have Seahawks logos at midfield and in the space where an endzone would be. There will be no hashmarks or yard markings. Depending on weather there may or may not be the NFL wide sideline markings.

Major Link Soccer: Rain On Plains Of Spain Is Money

It was a packed weekend in Major League Soccer with implications on the playoff race and hints at players being traded or transferred out of MLS. Monday's journey starts over in Spain where possible Seattle Sounders transfer target Joan Verdu is getting public support from his club's forward to stay, as Verdu is an important element to the Espanyol squad.

Time To Face Facts, CenturyLink May Never Have Permanent Grass

Sounder at Heart at related • 1 view

There seems to be little debate: A perfect grass pitch is almost always preferable to an artificial one. There are plenty of studies that suggest that's ridiculous and some of the newer surfaces may actually be superior to grass, but the perception is there. Here's the thing, though: As long as the Seattle Sounders play at CenturyLink Field, we should expect them to play on some sort of artificial turf.

The Turning Point in MLS History

Is it possible there wouldn't be an MLS if the Seattle Sounders hadn't joined? Prior to Seattle's first season in 2009, the league was still struggling and there were some doubts as to whether it would survive.

"The Seattle Sounders have seemingly great fans, but it's not really genuine,'' he said. "It's fans pretending to be European soccer fans. It's almost like a costume party, with folks wearing scarves and whatnot. Who wears scarves? For crossover fans -- guys who are fans of both the Sounders and the Seahawks -- would you ever in a million years see one of those scarf-wearing Sounders fans wear a scarf to a football game?

CARSON, Calif. – Kasey Keller announced at the beginning of the season he was going to retire at the end of the 2011 campaign, and as his farewell tour rolls on, the 41-year-old goalkeeper could not be more relaxed about his situation as he continues to play at a high level while experiencing new things.

This weekend marked the grand opening of Seattle Sounders' first team store in downtown Seattle. Simply known as "The Pro Shop," the store will feature products from both the Sounders and the Seahawks of the National Football League. In what appears to be a rare partnership among teams of different sports, the two appear have found the perfect formula for a successful retail store.

24 Hours to Go - Why This Means So Much

Like many Seattle sports fans, I've never seen any of my teams win anything. I've seen plenty of them get close; the 2001 Mariners were the best baseball team ever assembled, but they faded in the playoffs. Then there were 2005 Seahawks, and the less said about that the better. The 2008 University of Memphis men's basketball team were seconds away before Mario Chalmers happened.

The treasure is not always what it seems. Didn't Jack T. Colton teach us anything? It's not a shiny, Tiffany-made cup. It's not a three-day party of networking and one-night stands. It's a moment where truth and disbelief bleed into the surreal. It's a band on parade with a madcap leader out front.

Soccer clubs prefer soft turf due to its predictability and that it slows the ball down more akin to traditional grass but NFL sides like hard turf that is easier to run and get speed on.
