Karl Robinson and his Milton Keynes Dons side make the short journey down to the Lamex tomorrow
night in what could be a pivotal match as both sides look to cement their position in the League 1
play-off positions. MK Dons sit one place above Stevenage going into the game, although the Dons
are 5 points clear with the bonus of a game in hand.
Everton Boss David Moyes has praised the maturity of Ireland U21 International Shane Duffy after
his home Premier League debut at Goodison Park yesterday against Blackburn.
Speaking after the 1-1 draw Moyes said "Shane Duffy had a terrific game. He was arguably our best
player today and he's a young boy; we just needed a lot more in every department.
In what was a disappointing game somewhat dictated by the poor weather conditions, Stevenage
came away with a well-earned point thanks to a late goal from substitute Darius Charles. Scunthorpe
had taken the lead early in the second half when Garry Thompson latched onto a through ball from
Mark Duffy and shot past Chris Day.
Stevenage are on the road again this weekend as they make a trip up to Glanford Park to face
Alan Knill's Scunthorpe United. Boro are still managerless after Graham Westley's departure last
Friday, but they will be confident going into the game after a run of 10 away games in all
competitions without defeat.
Sammy Ameobi, the 19 year-old younger brother of Shola, is one of the young guns who came through
big time under Alan Pardew last year. Sammy Ameobi what a goal this lad scored at Scunthorpe!
Along with other youngsters like Haris Vuckic, Shane Ferguson, Mehdi Abeid and James Tavernier
we expect these youngsters to come through at Newcastle this coming year.

As Swisslet correctly pointed out here, blanket and hysterical coverage of the Premier League
pretty much dominates the media these days, and so the achievements of lesser known clubs often go
unheralded.
Last night, Huddersfield Town drew 2-2 with Scunthorpe. It's a result that would have barely
registered with anyone outside Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, but it marked Huddersfield's 40th
unbeaten league match.

Scunthorpe United have extended the loan stay of Ireland U21 international Shane Duffy.
The Derry born centre-half has impressed during his month at Glanford Park and the Iron were keen
to extend the deal.
Saturday's 2-1 victory over Yeovil Town was the 19-year-old's fourth appearance for United and
Scunthorpe boss alan Knill has persuaded Premier League side Everton to allow him to remain on a
month by month basis.
In last week's profile of Joe Bennett, I ruminated on the nature of the attacking full back and
although we have no intention of focusing the Monday Profile on archetypes alone, this third study
of September again concentrates on a boilerplate figure. For Andy (like Mr. Cole, seemingly now
known as Andrew) Hughes is surely the epitome, the quintessence, the very embodiment of that well
known

Ireland U21 international Shane Duffy has secured a loan move to League one side Scunthorpe from
Everton.
The 19-year-old Derry born defender is presently on international duty alongside fellow Scunthorpe
centre-back Niall Canavan for the Ireland's U21 side who host Hungary tomorrow night in their
opening 2013 UEFA qualifier, just three weeks after they produced a stunning comeback to defeat
Austria 2-1 in a friendly at the same Sligo venue.

"A few Premier League clubs have been asking about De Gea. Especially Wigan, who made an offer
which Atletico turned down. Roberto Martinez thinks De Gea is ready for the Premier League but
Atletico have insisted they want De Gea to stay at Calderon.
The phrase `yo-yo club' is well established in the football lexicon, but is there also such a thing
as a yo-yo player? While Michael Chopra himself might not reply in the affirmative, fans of
Sunderland probably would. It was, though, the subject of another recent transfer further down the
Football League, Paul Hayes, that brought the notion to mind.
The media made a big fuss when Liverpool secured the signing of Jordan Henderson for a fee in
the region of £20M from Sunderland. Some people even questioned whether Arsenal had been left
behind in this deal. Arsenal fans remained silent, not out of shock at missing out on a good
player, but because we all knew we had at least three British players on our books better than
Henderson.
By a nose, Scunthorpe United take this year's Best Fans Award. Last season, the gong went to Pride
Park for Derby's 29,207 average gate, "a freak of nature" according to my co-editor Lanterne Rouge.

Given the financial woes besetting most clubs in the second decade of this still young century, the
short term contract is one aspect of the modern game that is surely here to stay. It may be worth
ensnaring Wayne Rooney or Cristiano Ronaldo to a multi-year deal, but the majority of players will
find themselves forced to be content with a year at most and sometimes less than that.

A great way for the Reds to bounce back from the mid-week disappointment at Scunthorpe with a
rip-roaring win against fellow promotion-chasers Cardiff City. A really open game in which both
sides carve out opportunities was eventually decided by Robbie Earnshaw's second half strike after
Cardiff had levelled Wes Morgan's opener with a penalty that should never have been given [.
Straight back into the saddle for the Reds after a disappointing midweek setback against

Just as we dared get a bit hopeful with Cardiff dropping points against Burnley we've gone one
worse and managed to come away from Scunthorpe with a big fat zero points. Only one other team has
managed to do that this season, so it's a considerable achievement, and not one the boys will
relish. A very frustrating evening where a first half goal for the home side was enough to clinch
the tie [.

It says a lot for Everton's finances that David Moyes has to loan a striker to a Championship club
- who will cover all his wages - in order to fund a loan signing.
But as the Scot desperately searches for a striker he is forced to release one of his current crop
– admittedly one who has only scored once in 15 games – in order to have enough cash to do so.
