Part of the reason I've been MIA these past few months is I returned to an active role in our
league's administration after taking a year off AND was coaching 4 teams, most without any of my
children on them. I really should learn to say no. When a U12 coach had to step aside right as the
season got underway, we couldn't find anyone to step in for him.

These are the young gentleman who saw time against Chelsea and Barcelona, and sparse minutes
during the Open Cup, but did not see time in league play. Impressions of these players are
strongest for those that have the opportunity to see practice, or have talked to those that have.
As Developmental Players their small contracts don't count against the cap, but they also tend to
have second jobs as well.

It is with great sadness that I relay the news today of the passing of Freddy Garcia Jr. Freddie
spent a few years as essentially a full time FC Dallas practice player back in the 2004-2005
seasons. He played in quite a few scrimmages over the years and always represented himself well in
the red and white.

It was a bit wet today at practice. They quit early when the lightning got too close. A few shots
of players looking a little soaked. Jack, Matt and Zoltan...Aaron...And Michael...After the team
went inside Coach Vermes stopped for a couple minutes...Just a short video of one of the scrimmages
in the rain before they went inside.

We're less than a week away from the first kickoff of the 2009 USL-1 season. Teams continued to
play scrimmages in preparation for the openers and continued adding players to bolster their
rosters. This week's big USL news was the announcement of a new team in New York for the 2010
season, bringing the league to 13 teams.
