Last week I wrote about the bottom half of my personal top 20 stadia (out of 31 total) in MLS
history. This week I share with you my top 10.  My b0ttom seven were all larger stadia with
capacities of 30,000+ and the next three were each smaller stadia. Today's list reveals eight
smaller soccercentric stadia and two of the jumbo variety.

D.C. United 1: 0 Columbus Crew
Six Word Novel Recap A decent team, with terrible supporters.
Let me just start by saying that Steve Cronin impressed the hell out of me last night. He played
confidently, and he did not hesitate to come off of his line or even out of the box. At one point
last night, he ran almost to the corner flag to shield a Crew player off the ball until it ran out
for a goal kick.

For some years now, DC United's Screaming Eagles and Barra Brava have set the standard for
pre-game tailgating in MLS.As a DC fan this season, I've learned to appreciate the "smaller things" in soccer my soccer
experience as opposed to actual goals, talent, or even effort out of my home town team.

It's tough to feel anything but disappointment in the result, but the one positive tonight was
the team's supporters - La Barra Brava, Screaming Eagles, La Norte and everyone else at the stadium
absolutely brought it. The last ten minutes of the game was one of the most electric atmospheres
I've seen at RFK.

The Netminder 01 September @ 12:48 PM EST
The Netminder hasn't taken a scientific survey, but here's a wild guess -- most U.S. Open Cup
finals haven't had drive-time radio DJs exhorting listeners to get out and stand up for their team
and city.
Most U.S. Open Cup finals haven't had rallies, pub tours and viral videos with a local baseball
player and the local NHL owner.

I finally get to see the Galaxy play live after years of having season tickets in LA. So I'll
get to take photos (they won't be great, but I'll share the best ones) and report on the game as a
fan in the stands.
The only "issue," I guess, is that I'm going to be smack dab in the middle of the Screaming
Eagles/Barra Brava.

This just in! For the US/Mexico match tomorrow afternoon, I will be attending the Screaming
Eagles viewing party at the official DC bar for US Soccer, the Pour House (319 Pennsylvania Ave
SE). I've got class at 6:30 that night though, so I'll be doing my best to keep it to a two-drink
maximum, regardless of the outcome of the match.

Well, the whole two half things has never been more apt. I don't know what Tommy said to the
team in the locker room, but it worked something special.
The first half was honestly the worst 45 minutes of soccer I've ever seen. I'm counting
Screaming Eagles pickup games in that assertion.

Ok, so the United States gave Brazil all it could handle in the 2009 Confederations Cup final,
falling to the 5-time World Cup champions, 3-2.
But what does it really mean?
According to the Boston Globe's Mark Stokes, this final could be the match that pushes soccer into
the forefront of American sports.

Tomorrow in Washington, D.C., supporters of DC United will gather in a park a few miles from RFK
Stadium. Armed with signs, songs, and a collective birthed from frustration and fear, they will
march. They will march because they feel they have no other choice; their beloved local club, as
much an institution as can exist in a fourteen year-old league, is in jeopardy.

There have already been two games played this week, but MLS Matchday Six gets into full swing on
Saturday with some very good intra-conference match-ups.
The marquee match-up this weekend pits the Chicago Fire against the Columbus Crew. Yes, I know,
the Crew hasn't won a game yet, but Columbus is coming off a bye week and was playing better before
the bye.

were playing. But after the game, the fourth person at our table and I were talking to them a
little bit more, and they said they were from Puerto Rico.
