Que dulce! Valencia kept to their promise to the fans last night and
held Barca to a 1-1 draw with a 27th minute screamer from Jonas. Part of the promise was to play
their best and not lose in front of the home fans, so this result is significantly better than a
loss.
Benvenuto amici! Here's a perfect photo demonstrating the unglamorous
side of football when you're on the pitch and it starts to rain. Believe us, it's absolutely
horrible. Poor Claudio Ranieri had to stay on and watch as his Inter boys fought
and sunk 0-1 to lowly Lecce at the Via del Mare stadium last night.
More than any other matchup, the coming together of Barcelona and Madrid forces apart the
usually shared preferences of the cultfootball brain trust. So today's match was one where both
sides could come away feeling they'd won some important battles, if not the war.
The game was not 90 minutes of pure flowing football.

legs and studmarks in some unusual places for those on the receiving end. But the reformed
Manchester City midfielder is now using his powers for good. He managed to slide tackle in a
25-yard screamer in tonight's Carling Cup semi-final against Liverpool.
Clint Dempsey hit a second-half hat-trick to lead his Fulham side to an unlikely 5-2 victory over
Newcastle United at Craven Cottage in one of the most eye-catching football scores of the day.
It was a typical case of a game of two halves as Fulham wrestled the initiative from Newcastle
after a one-sided first half.

Manchester City's U18s whupped their Swindon Town counterparts 4-1 in the FA Youth Cup last

Darron Gibson has agreed a four and a half year deal with Everton today. His contract was due to

After August's rioting in London, Tottenham full-back Benoit Assou Ekotto was one of the most vocal
and active footballing voices suggesting that the game could be doing more to deal with social
problems in their local area. The Cameroon international took to the streets to see some of the
worst affected areas for himself after [.

A 42nd minute thunderbolt from Andres Iniesta proved enough to see Barcelona past modest third
division rivals CE L'Hospitalet in the blaugrana's first Copa del Rey match of the season.
The game was moved up several weeks due to Barcelona's participation in the Club World Cup next

Just read this article from the Thackley website, Looks like they are looking forward to our visit
on Saturday.Expect fireworks (of the legal and enjoyable kind) as the Seadogs hope to rocket
up the league and the Dennyboys look to avoid a damp squib.Whilst there is still the League Cup
to play for, the mantra of "concentrating on the league" is perhaps uppermost in Thackley minds as
they look forward to entertaining Scarborough Athletic on Saturday.
It was so nearly a vital three points for Alex McLeish away from home thanks to goals from
Stiliyan Petrov and what should have been a late winner from Richard Dunne to cancel out Conor
Wickham's first half leveller.
Unfortunately, the familiar sight of a late goal coming from a set piece returned when 5'7″
Stéphane Sessègnon helped himself to a free header with one minute of normal time left on the
clock.

rare start. He won't quite look like his old self (see: Oguchi Onyewu, Confederations Cup

he'll show some ability to recover, which he's been lacking for a while.

With a few tweaks to his game Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain can star for England at Euro
2012
Of all the players built up after just a few games, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is one to get
excited about. Even at 18, he has a genuine chance of earning a place in the England squad before
the season finishes.
Welcome to our new series! I'll be doing this for each and every game this season from now on
because, well, it's kind of fun. Essentially what it is is a simulation put on by FIFA 12. I
controlled none of the players instead allowing the computer to play as both the Portland Timbers
and Vancouver Whitecaps to get the fairest results.
Dare I suggest that we can concentrate on the league now? No? Didn't think so. Nevertheless, we
are out of the Carling Cup thanks to a 2-0 loss at home to Bolton in what, by all
accounts, was an utterly dismal performance.

At the close it looked easy enough. There were goals. Celebrations, too. The kind of win we
should be recording against newly promoted sides at home if we are indeed harboring aspirations of
another Premier League title. In truth, however, this was far from a convincing display. Much work
is left to be done.

By Clemente Lisi – NEW YORK, NY (Aug 23, 2011) US Soccer Players -- Goals are not all created
equal. Spanish-language TV announcers use the word golazo or bombazo to describe a great goal taken
from outside the penalty area. The Brits like to refer to one as a screamer or a cracker. Either
way, goals scored from outside the 18-yard box always get a rise in blood pressure from announcers.
