On the pitch and among the fans, Celtic and Rangers may be the fiercest of football rivals.
When it comes to the business end of things, namely the mission to maximize their financial
potential by fleeing the Scottish Premier League, the Old Firm pair are partners in crime. Like
any good rivalry, Celtic and Rangers need each other.

On the 30th May 2004 (before Benitez was appointed), I wrote a post on ThisIsAnfield.com arguing
that Martin O Neill should get the Manager's job ahead of Benitez and Jose Mourinho. Five years
later and O'Neill is apparently one of the favourites to become the next Liverpool manager. Well,
my opinion has not changed: For me, O'neill is the only man for the job.

So Toronto FC fired their interim manager Chris Cummins today, on the heels of a 5-0 meltdown in a
must-win match against woeful New York. That's a reasonable move, and one that I suspect most TFC
fans welcome. But whichever English or Scottish league washout that Mo recruits (and you can bet
your bottom dollar that it'll be a Brit), will face the same problem that Cummins and his
predecessor John Carver faced.

As a footballing metropolis, Glasgow and its environs more or less have it all. There is
Celtic, Rangers, Partick Thistle, Hampden Park and Hamilton Crescent, where the first ever
international match was played. Not far away are clubs like Motherwell, St.Mirren and Hamilton
Academical. Glasgow has had its European champions, its fan tragedies, glories and financial
disasters and, as we'll look at today, clubs who have come, gone and returned again such as
Clydebank FC.

The Hull City Tigers have all the odds against them. This off-season they discovered that most
players with the talent to play for the club would prefer to be role players for more historically
successful clubs. Take Michael Owen for example. He spurned the Tigers for a sub spot on
Manchester United.

Glasgow Rangers manager Walter Smith was full of praise for Arsene Wenger and his team after the
Gunners beat Rangers 3-0 in the final day of the 2009 Emirates Cup.
Smith said:
It is not very often we come up against a team who play in a manner in which Arsene Wenger has
them playing.

Newly promoted Birmingham City are apparently in the transfer market for experienced former
Scotland midfielder Barry Ferguson. The 31 year old Rangers star has been the talk and indeed
target of a large number of clubs south of the border including relegated West Bromwich Albion -
especially following the controversial moments that occurred for the player earlier in the season.

According to the London Times, Tony Mowbray will be installed as the new manager of Glasgow Celtic.
He leaves behind a relegated West Bromwich Albion, but this is a good move for both Celtic and
Mowbray. Tony did a great job getting WBA promoted in the first place. He also didn't receive a lot
of financial support to buy new players once the team were promoted.

Did you here what those cheeky Rangers fans did? Not the militant ones that attack and kill
people.
Well not only did their team win the Scottish league title, but on the last day of the season the
clever Rangers fans texted misinformation about a goal that wasn't to their Celtic-supporting
friends -- which then mistakingly believed they had a chance at the championship.

We find it hard to concentrate on Cristiano Ronaldo's love life when he shows us thighs like
this. But for those who can focus, he's now dating Luana Belletti, sister to Chelsea's Juliano
Belletti.
Burnley's going to the Premier League. Certainly this is an occasion for novelty pants and short

Haven't seen many teams as outclassed as the Central Coast Mariners for many years. Haven't seen a

And can the Central Coast Mariners hierarchy or fans except that?
Celtic, my team, have had many pastings at the hands of Barcelona and Man United in recent years
but funnily enough we rarely lost.
