After conceding early on in the first-half when Peter Lovenkrands had put the visitors ahead,
Barry Robson and Scott McDonald linked up well to level the scoring 20 minutes later. It was a
peach of goal from the 31-year-old who lashed the ball home with a 20-yard left-footed strike. Some
could say it was a goal made in Celtic as both McDonald and Robson showed the Boro fans what they
are capable of in big games.

The game against Newcastle on Saturday could be a platform for us to build on which will
hopefully start a mini revival in our so far dismal season in the Coca-Cola Championship.
The last time to the two sides met back in December 2009 Newcastle brushed past a lacklustre
Middlesbrough team at St James' Park signalling the massive distance in quality and determination
between the two sets of players at the time.

After the 2-0 win over Queens Park Rangers last Saturday Gordon Strachan will be looking to grab
another victory to take into the Newcastle United game next week. Cardiff City are having a good
season and currently sit in the last Play-Off position with 49 points ahead of the likes of
Blackpool, ourselves and Sheffield United.

Scott McDonald is back in training after seeing a specialist about his troublesome hernia. The
26-year-old has had problems with the injury since he had surgery in January and has not been match
fit for Boro since signing from Celtic for £3.5million in the transfer window.
A second operation was on the cards for the Australian international before a trip to see a
specialist recently confirmed he only needed injections to recover from the injury allowing the
former Celtic striker to return to light training this week.

Gordon Strachan is slowly piecing his own Middlesbrough jigsaw together with the help of a few
of his old pals from yesteryear in Scotland. The 53-year-old endured a few months of mixed
reactions from the Boro faithful but now, after grabbing a few experienced players from north of
the border, it looks like he has transformed our team of over-paid and inexperienced players into
to a workforce of honest lads and it's far from the finished article.

Middlesbrough entertain Queens Park Rangers at the Riverside tomorrow in a game that should
result in nothing less than three points. Since the 5-1 win at Loftus Road back at the beginning of
December, QPR have only managed two wins from 14 matches in the Championship leaving them only four
points from the relegation zone.

We won't get ahead of ourselves here because we are all used to being let down at Middlesbrough
once we get a tiny glimpse of fortune. Whilst Newcastle's lengthy unbeaten run came to an end this
week at Derby County, we continued our good efforts and are now experiencing a five game run
without loss but as I said let's not get too carried away.

What an interesting week we've had in the footballing world. Middlesbrough have officially
changed their name to Middlesbrough Celtic FC, John Terry got the sack from his duties as England
captain and Mido returned from his homeland to play for 50p-a-week with crisp bonus add-ons.
Scott McDonald was not ready for his Boro debut because of a reaction to a recent hernia
operation but McManus managed a decent performance in his first game for Boro but couldn't keep out
the Tractor Boys' first minute goal.

New manager.. check. New players.. check. Lower wage-bill.. check. So this is this the start of
a new era at the Riverside. In a recent interview Steve Gibson declared the need to change the
style of football we play at the club from a technical style of play to a more rugged and
hard-working style.

Stephen McManus and received a very good report about him from the excellent Celtic fans, which
will be published later this week.

So, that's it.
Another transfer window has come and gone, and the January transfer lists are full of names who
have switched clubs, either temporarily or permanently.
If you were looking for action and big names moving to and fro, that'll all be in the summer,
and given that it's a World Cup year and some big performances by names known and unknown stand to
have a great impact on the market, what a summer it projects to be.

Adam Johnson has completed his move to Manchester City today for an undisclosed fee as Boro were
one of the busier teams on transfer deadline day. Johnson picks up the number 11 shirt, vacated by
Robinho, and will once again attempt to cement himself in a Premier League first eleven.
Johnson has been in great goalscoring form for Boro this season, but criticism over his
performances at the Riverside stadium have led to doubts over whether he is ready to play at a
higher level.

the 22-year-old is on his way to Manchester for a medical ahead of completing a £7 million move

after a late bid yesterday evening, it looks like Middlesbrough officials have accepted that offer
for our left winger.

McDonald struck late on before Rangers kept themselves well ahead of their arch rivals with their

After strong showings in the first leg of the playoff round, both Lyon and Arsenal are in a
comfortable position to enter the group stage. Lyon can claim a tenth consecutive group-stage
appearance unless they completely fall apart. The French club overwhelmed RSC Anderlecht 5-1 last

Scott McDonald clearly plays for a better team than Tim Cahill.
Although Celtic lost to Arsenal 2-0 last night, Cahill's mob got hammered 6-1 on Saturday. With the
Celtic budget around a couple of Everton players, the cheaper ones, we probably did pretty
well.
For me, I didn't watch the game.

This morning, Tony Mowbray looked out of his window, saw the clouds and the threat of rain, and
though "a bit of rain will help our game tonight". He made his breakfast, ate it, enjoyed it, and

I was thinking do they know anything about the Irish team?
Yes the Irish did a job on Italy recently getting a famous 1-1 win. I know it's a draw but in
Ireland 1-1 has become a win.
But none of the Irish play outside of England, or Scotland play at a high or technical level other
than maybe Robbie Keane and Aidan McGeady.
