Why does everyone in Utah have a big smile this morning? I will tell you why,
because (imagine the Urkel happy dance) Real Salt Lake put the hurtin' on the Colorado Rapids with
a 3-0 win and the stars aligned when the Red Bulls decided to see just how slackidaisical
they could make Toronto FC look.

I'm not read to give up the dream of post-season play for Real Salt Lake yet, but things
look pretty bleak. As Coach Jason Kreis lamented after the 1-0 loss in Toronto on
Saturday, this has been a frustrating season for RSL where one can look back at missed
opportunities at every turn.

Yes We Can!!! Real Salt Lake was at the base of Mount Timpanogos last night and things
looked bleak, but now RSL is half way up the mountain. When the game game began last night
in Rio Tinto, RSL was four points out of a potential playoff spot with three games left. After
Andy's winning goal, and then the cracking insurance goal by Fabian Espindola, RSL is now one point
out of the playoffs with two games left.

Now I may be going out on a limb, but after the past couple games, I'm a bit testy. I mean, if
you think back to the way RSL started the season (except playing away of course), I was pretty darn
optimistic.

Now why would you think I am worried about RSL making the playoffs?
But sometimes, you have to face reality. Real looked awful out of the blocks in Houston. It was
as if RSL was still working at fifty percent effort at the start of the game while the Houston
Dynamo was playing at high tempo.

Real Salt Lake's Fabian Espindola is ecstatic about two things this week: 1) scoring a nice goal
in Wednesday's match against Chivas-USA at home in Rio Tinto; and 2) probably getting the start in
Kansas City today when RSL faces off against the Wizards. Even without Javier Morales or Yura
Movsisyan in the lineup, RSL saw great play from Espindola, Robbie Findley , Kyle Beckerman, and of
course Nick Rimando.

Dread the Dreads if you come to play in Rio Tinto. Tonight, Kyle Beckerman and
his "Dreads" will be called on once more to work some of the "special magic" in Rio Tinto when the
conference leading Houston Dynamo come to town. Beckerman, Nick Rimando and the rest of RSL are
looking to string the wins together that will help them rise up the table and make post-season for
the second year running.

Yura Movsisyan left tonight's Chicago game with a rotator cuff injury, and although Real played
tough defense against the Fire for 75 minutes, one defensive lapse and a Chicago goal was all it
took for the Fire to earn full point and Real to go home with nothing. Chicago has played well
defensively of late, and a good defense means you don't have to put a lot of points on the board to
win.

Saturday night at home, Real played a match that looked like it could have been a win, but late
in the game Colorado scored the equalizer and happily departed Rio Tinto Stadium with a tie and
overall lead in The Rocky Mountain Cup. So close to a win and yet so far, but RSL coach Jason Kries
was optimistic after the match and felt his players showed commitment and dedication in their
play.

I have been unable to post since watching Real tie the Galaxy in Rio Tinto last week in
a game they should have won, and then fall to Chivas in LA on Saturday night. I would have
been brave and written something, but the nice doctors at the "facility" I am staying at thought it
might upset me, and then there is this silly rule about not allowing patien.

I'd like to say something good about the way that RSL played in the game against the Red Bulls,
so... RSL's uniforms looked FAN-TAS-TIC! As for RSL's play, not so much. I was expecting a
game where RSL would come out with some of the fire they've shown in the past few weeks, but
instead I was as shocked by the goal the Red Bulls slipped past Nick Rimando barely two minutes
into the game as RSL seemed to be.

Alan Shearer, who had his first game today as the new manager for Newcastle, failed to impress as
Chelsea stole the show in a 2-0 victory. With just seven matches remaining, Newcastle are in the
bottom three right now and haven't celebrated an at home victory in nearly four months. Truly
awful. Chelsea player, Frank Lampard, [.

Robbie Findley rocked Rio Tinto Stadium in the first half of the game, scoring two unassisted
goals, the second one basically walked into an open net, where the biggest defensive threat would
have been tripping over his own shoe laces. In the second half he got his "hat trick" with an
impressive header.

Real Salt Lake started the pre-season Carolina Challenge Cup strong, with a 3-0 win over DC United.
Luis Escalada, Yura Movsisyan and Andy Williams all scored in the second half of play, while RSL's
defense continued to shine as it has done throughout pre-season. The Carolina Challenge Cup is in
its 6th year and has [.

to switch during all 3 goals.
