Well, we kind of had an idea that Arsenal were playing well but not getting the results. It was
a matter of details according to Arteta, Wenger, and others. It all came good in this one as
Blackburn were the hapless victims of a rampant Arsenal side.
Chance conversion was another issue which was put to bed, at least temporarily, with 7 out of 8
shot on target registering on the scoreboard.

They might have been held to single digits on the scoreboard for the first time during the
CONCACAF Olympic qualifying tournament, but the U.S. women's national team remains on a roll.

This afternoon is a must win game for Chelsea and it really is as simple as that. We cannot afford
to drop points over the next few weeks as we need to try and close the gap to the sides above us
now in the league.
AVB and his Chelsea players have a job on their hands this afternoon as a rejuvenated Sunderland
side under new man-manager Martin O'Neill travel to the Bridge with nothing to lose and everything
to gain.
It may sound odd to call a four goal win unspectacular, but that is exactly what it was. And
exactly what you want from Arsenal when facing the worst club in the Premier League. It may sound
negative, but it's possibly the best thing you can say about today's match.
Arsenal would line up exactly how Brenton described we would in the preview yesterday showing
you exactly why you should be reading the match previews.
Clarence Goodson and the Brondby back line did their part to keep AC Horsens off the scoreboard,
however a dubious non-call on a clear offside infraction doomed them to a home loss on Monday
night.

Sometimes you have those games that after 20 minutes you look at the scoreboard and think: is
this really the score of the game I am seeing?
FALL RIVER, Mass. The Revolution Youth Academy kept the Met Oval squads scoreless on Saturday
afternoon by claiming 2-0 (U-18s) and 3-0 (U-16s) wins at Durfee High School on a blustery
Saturday afternoon.
For the 18s, it was a game that saw them dominate on the possession scale in the first half, but
nothing to show for it, as scoreboard flashed a 0-0 scoreline at the half.
French substitute Loïc Rémy was the lone goal scorer in the 72nd minute when Marvin Martin
chipped the ball over the U.S. back four. Rémy latched on to the ball knocking Clarance Goodson
down in his wake and finished cleanly past goalkeeper Tim Howard. The Everton keeper had done well
to keep France off the scoreboard [.
Why the FA should be applauded for poppy efforts
Fifa, yet again, has proved itself incapable of valuing anything except financial gain in its
refusal to allow England to wear a poppy emblem against Spain on Saturday. At least the FA did what
they could. England will wear poppies on their training tops while the anthems are played, a wreath
will be laid and a poppy emblem will appear on the scoreboard.
I doubt it had anything to do with my criticism of the other scoreboard, but in the immediate
aftermath of the post, MLS rolled out a new, faster, prettier heading that has a freshness
expectancy of about a week:
Ooh, brushed metal background with a two-tone fake gradient. So tough. So hard.
After a scoreless first half, the Dynamo opened up the attack with Andre Hainault and Carlo
Costly goals as Houston earned 2-0 win over Sporting K.C. at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park and a return
to the MLS Cup Final for the first time since 2007.
Hainault opened the scoring in the 53rd minute when a corralled a loose ball inside the box and
fired it through to give the guests the lead.
What separates a good coach from a great coach?
A coach can be considered good if he does one of two things. One: He looks at his squad and
says, "Right then, these are my players. I will build a system to suit them." Then he creates a
system, plugs in players, and off they go on a fine run of form.
The most talked about Premiership player get talked about again! This time Nicholas Spiller sticks
his oar in... The young man knows how to set fires, as evidenced by his recent escapade involving
fireworks and his home bathroom. Mario Balotelli also knows how to light up the scoreboard on the
pitch.

Week 31 of MLS action was one to remember. Playoff positions were decided, old coaching friends
squared off and Seattle set a record in attendance that likely wont be broken for years to come.

A Big Result Against L.A. Put the Playoffs Well Within the Red Bulls' GraspWe've gotten down
to the part of the MLS calendar when fans can't help but scoreboard watch, however much they'd like
to simply focus on their team's results. For Red Bulls supporters, this means - for the most part -
hoping that their rivals in the Eastern Conference drop as many points as possible between now and
next weekend, when the 2011 season wraps up.
From the Evansville Courier Press, October 9, 2011
The players and teams that continue to get better as the season goes on often prescribe to focusing
on the process of getting better, opposed to focusing solely on the outcome and results of their
previous or upcoming games.
This applies not only to players or teams, but to coaches, too.
Here's a look back at the good, the bad, and the ugly from week seven of the Premier League. Cheers
Norwich: The scoreboard doesn't reflect how well this newly promoted side played at Old Trafford.

The Chicago Fire isn't out of the playoff picture just yet.
Chicago kept itself in the mix for a playoff spot on Saturday night, earning a 1-1 draw with the
Houston Dynamo at Robertson Stadium. The result has Chicago on 37 points this season, three shy of
the last wild card spot currently held by the New York Red Bulls.
Saturday night in Foxboro, the New England Revolution played a great match. They owned 55.2% of
the possession, completed more of their passes, had more shots and shots on target, committed fewer
fouls, had more corner kicks and won more 50-50 battles than their opponents, the Seattle Sounders.
In just about every possible statistical category, they were better, if not outright dominant.
Arsenal's Wojciech Szczesny revealed that a goalkeeper can never be satisfied with his performance
when at the end of the game the scoreboard reads eight conceded goals. Speaking to Arsenal Player
about last month's terrible defeat ...
So, yeah, about that whole post where I said the Rapids will be beat by Metapan and the roster
selection was not great. Well Colorado proved me an idiot with a 3-1 win last night. The reserve
squad, lead by Steve Guppy and augmented by Wells Thompson and Tyrone Marshall, pulled together in
a tough environment and dominated the scoreboard.
Jozy Altidore has done it again.
Altidore continued his fine start to the season by scoring the opener in AZ Alkmaar's Europa
League match against FC Metalist Kharkiv on Thursday. The U.S. international got on the scoreboard
after making a run and hitting a shot to the lower right corner in the 26th minute.
Make no mistake, a lot was riding on Tuesday's result. If the Seattle Sounders had failed to
pull out a point, that would have meant they needed a result against Monterrey. No matter how
weakened Monterrey may or may not be, there's just no way you want to go into a match with a
Mexican team absolutely needing a result.
University of Denver midfielder Brian Hoyt scored both Pioneers goals, but the College of
Charleston put three tallies on the scoreboard to defeat the Pioneers 3-2 at CIBER Field at the
University of Denver Soccer Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
"I didn't think we played particularly well in any portion of the game, but I guess we were good
enough to get two back," said head coach Bobby Muuss.
That starting line up...made a lot of sense
One of the major frustrations this season has been the instability in the starting line up.
Lately, a lot of the comments on the PSP addressing how it sometimes takes until the second half
for Nowak to put out a line up that many would like to see as the starting XI.
For the third straight game, the University of Wisconsin men's soccer team went toe-to-toe with
a quality opponent.
But for the third straight game, the Badgers ended up on the losing end of the scoreboard.
Sophomore Mark Sherrod picked up the ball at the top of the box and scored his
fourth goal of the season in the 80th minute as Memphis (4-0-1) slipped past UW 2-1 Sunday
afternoon in a non-conference match at the McClimon Complex.
The Adams State College Grizzlies and Colorado Mesa University Mavericks couldn't find
separation on Sunday in Grand Junction as the two tied 1-1 after two overtime periods.
The Mavericks put the first tally on the scoreboard in the 17th minute of action as Stevie Palma
put a rebound goal back in the net after a save by 'keeper Paul Pizza.
With the postseason chase picking up steam, the Philadelphia Union will be looking for a return
to their winning ways when they take on the New England Revolution at PPL Park (8 p.m.,
Galavision).
Zac MacMath is set to get the start in goal in place of the injured Faryd Mondragon, and the
rookie will have to do his part to keep Revs' DP striker Milton Caraglio off the scoreboard in a
crucial match for the Union's postseason hopes, which have dwindled a bit during the club's
six-game winless stretch.
We are exactly three-quarters through the MLS season. Forget adding, subtracting and dividing
the number of games your favorite side has played; it's good enough to know that Week 24 just
passed in a 32-week season.
So, let the gloriously mean season of meaningful table watching and scoreboard tracking
officially begin!
It's a bit confusing, but while ESPNSoccernet is leading with the 8-2 scoreboard, ESPN Soccer has
gone with the day's total score, and bigger picture. I still prefer London 0 Hull 4.
A week after falling to top-ranked and defending national champion Notre Dame, a more confident
University of Wisconsin women's soccer team took the field for its home opener Friday night.
Freshman Cara Walls (Wauwatosa East) and senior midfielder Leigh
Williams scored, Swedish freshman midfielder Julia Roddar assisted on
both goals and the Badgers kept No.
I'll admit that I'm a little bit nervous in writing this preview.
The first reason is that I haven't watched Man Utd thus far this season, and so I hope I don't miss
any of the nuances of their game at the moment. The second is that my reputation is the "doom and
gloom" blogger at this site, and it will be hard to avoid such talk in light of all of our
injuries, suspensions, and blatant holes in the roster.

The goal-scoring bug that's been going around plenty of Americans abroad caught up with another
U.S. national team player.
Eric Lichaj scored his first goal for Aston Villa in Carling Cup second-round play on Tuesday,
netting the eventual game-winner in the 80th minute of a 2-0 victory over Hereford.

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. -- The Toyota Park scoreboard was not a mirage.
The Chicago Fire finally found the win column for the first time in more than two months as they
defeated Toronto FC, 2-0, on Sunday in front of 12,020 at Toyota Park.

D.C. United's rookie crop has turned in quite the season.
This past weekend it was goalkeeper Joe Willis' turn to answer the call, as he stepped in for
the suspended Bill Hamid and delivered some top-notch saves against the Vancouver Whitecaps en
route to a clean sheet in his MLS debut and earned SBI MLS Rookie of the Week honors.
Today Sporting Kansas City announced the beginning of their season ticket renewal process for the
2012 season. The team has put out the pricing as well as the renewal process. Overall, pricing as a
whole isn't increasing by much at all as a whole, in fact for some it is going down. The Member's
Club price is going down from $280 to $260, the East Stand midfield and it's sun issues is going
down $40 from $700 to $660.
Anderlecht picked up their first points of the season last night by defeating visiting Mechelen in
Jupiler Pro League action. American Sacha Kljestan lit up the scoreboard in the first half before
Matias Suarez and Romelu Lukaku both struck after the intermission to assure the victory.
