The USA celebrated a historical win over Mexico beating them for the first time in Mexico about
three weeks ago. Today, it was the Reggae Boyz recording their first win ever against the USA in
nineteen meetings as they took advantage of a midfield without Michael Bradley and his potential
link up with the men on top.
The Colorado Rush made a brave try at derailing the Pali Blues machine but came up short on
Sunday as the California side slipped past the visitors 2-0.
With the win, the Pali Blues improved to 12-0-1 on the season. Colorado Rush fell to 5-4-3 and
third place in the division with two games remaining.
SOMERVILLE, MA- The Boston Breakers extended their winning run to two games by beating the New
York Fury 2-0 at Dilboy Stadium on Saturday night in front of 2,117 fans. Match kick-off was
delayed 45 minutes thanks to thunder showers in the area. And while lightning didn't strike twice,
Kyah Simon did, scoring her eighth and ninth goals of the season in the win.
For days Italy have been simultaneously building up and playing down theories that Group C
leaders Spain and Croatia would conspire to produce a 2-2 draw (an act known as a "biscotto") in
order to keep the Italians from advancing. Paranoia levels -- already heightened by the fact that a
suspicious 2-2 draw between Sweden and Denmark kept Italy from advancing at Euro 2004 -- were not
helped by UEFA choice in scoreboard test information at the Stadion Miejski hours before the
match.
For the second straight game Colorado was shutout in a loss. This time it was only a 1-0 loss,
actually one of our better games in Seattle as you'll see below, but you only need to give up 1
goal if you can't score.
Honestly Seattle should have been up at least 1 within the first 15-20 minutes.
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. Edmundo Juarez scored twice to lead Fall River Sports to a 4-0 win over a
short-handed East Providence Sports in Sunday's regular season finale at Riverside Recreation
Park.
Juarez, who scored in the 15th and 30th minutes, led the way while Lester Ramirez and Chris
Arruda scored in the 26th and 28th minutes, respectively.
Reds' defender Ryan Stone leveled it at the half hour mark to help R.I. earn a point against the
New York Athletic Club on Saturday at Cranston Stadium.
Stone's 30th minute strike answered a Quentin Grigsby goal in the 25th minute, but the
scoreboard wouldn't budge for the final hour of play.

For 21 minutes, the New England Revolution played and looked like the team Jay Heaps
envisioned. New England pressed. It attacked. The ball moved quickly and players whipped in early
crosses.

It wasn't a win. But then again, it wasn't a loss, either.
On Saturday, the Revolution may have fallen short of three points. But, they proved that all
draws aren't created equal in hijacking a valuable point at LIVESTRONG Sporting Oven, er, Park
against the first-place-turned-second-place Sporting K.
Independence Day has come and gone in the United States (as well as Canada Day for our fans
north of the border) which usually signifies something in the MLS calendar: the time to make your
move is now. Most teams have played around 16-17 matches, and as we enter the second half of the
season, it's clear more now than ever that this year's playoff race is going to be hotly
contested.
Hackworth says tonight's game against the Crew is huge, believes Jack McInerney is the key to the
Union getting goals on the scoreboard. Previews and power rankings. More on Freddy. With Perlaza
gone, Nowak's Mwanga deal means Union got nothing. River Cup raised $30k. More news.
Though the Rapids found themselves swimming against the current, they prevailed and dealt the
Union their first ever home opener loss. For the Union faithful, the only thing more depressing
than two hard losses in an as many games is the fact that this one didn't look like a loss anywhere
but on the scoreboard.
The first thing that leaps out is that he's another left footed striker. Now we already have RVP
and Lukas Podolski, so the attack is heavily weighted on that foot and on that flank.
We've seen RVP lose precious seconds and opportunities instinctually switch the ball to his
stronger left foot.
Coming into the Manchester derby today, we were told that potentially 650 million people around
the world would be glued to their TV sets to watch, what many people argued, was "The Game of the
Century". It's been my experience over the years that matches which are hyped up the way this game
was usually fizzle out as both teams fail to live up to their reputations.
Should Arsenal banish away fans to the Gods at the Emirates next season? I only ask as it has
emegerd that Manchester United will kick visiting supporters upstairs in the top tier of the Sir
Alex Ferguson Stand at Old Trafford.
Previously, away fans have been housed in the Scoreboard End corner but not from the start of
the new Premier League campaign.
The Portland Timbers came out with guns blazing but did not get the early goal and had to cool
their heels for a short weather delay at half time. Portland continued their first half momentum
and finally broke through, but the Vancouver Whitecaps got a late goal to equalize.
First Half:
John Spencer made some surprising changes to the line-up for this game.
The Portland Timbers and Columbus Crew were trying to regain some confidence as both sides deal
with injuries and offensive struggles. With both sides playing a defensive, conservative game plan,
it was a battle of goalkeepers on this night and the respective netminders kept both teams off the
scoreboard as the teams played to a scoreless draw.
We believe Bayern Munich is on the brink of something big and bulgy, Kickettes. In terms of
history and our predictions go, the face/body talent ratio has never steered us wrong, so we
probably shouldn't lose faith in our own system now, right?
Well, according to this llama who we'll call Larry from here on out at Ashdown Llama Park in
East Sussex, we may be wrong in due time.
We are just a day away from the Champions League final and once again I have decided to take a look
at the opposition to try and discover their weakness. I have done this previously on two occasions,
The FA Cup Semi Final against Spurs and against Barcelona and I am proud to say the weaknesses I
identified were spot on!
My title may come across as harsh, but I will say from the start that the majority of English
football writers/pundits do a good job. I enjoy reading match reports from a lot of the major
papers to get different views as to how a specific game was played. And I also enjoy listening to
podcasts such as the Sunday Supplement (cannot watch it live in Canada).
Sometimes it's not all about possession, or shots, or beautiful soccer. In the end, it's about the
scoreboard. Let this be a lesson to you coaching aspirants: Sometimes you have to know you are the
weaker team and park the bus. The lone shot on goal for Chelsea wins it. 1-0.Video: Fox Soccer
Portland uses a lot of energy in the first half to get the early goal but can't come up with it.
The second half was a war of attrition as the humidity seemed to play havoc on the Timbers but they
eke out the draw because of a monster night from Troy Perkins. Another 0-0 draw.
First Half:
Portland came out with the almost the same line-up as the Columbus game except for Steven Smith
got the start over Mike Chabala.
Chris Baldwin wrote a wonderful piece on CultureMap (link here) about how BBVA Compass Stadium
has turned a Dynamo ticket into THE hot ticket in Houston-town these days, mentioning a list of
celebrities both local and national who were there on Saturday. And with the team potentially
starting the season with five sell-outs or near-sellouts, I see nothing to argue against what
Baldwin wrote, recognizing as he does what we have known all along, the Houston Dynamo are painting
the town Orange.
While Italy warmed up ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Denmark at the San Siro, the scoreboard operates ran a test that also offered a cartoonish prediction of how the match would play out.
According to the prognosticators at the scoreboard controls, Paperino (what the Italians call Donald Duck) would open the scoring for Italy in the 24th minute, but Pippo (Goofy.
Looks like the future of US women's soccer is in very capable hands. The U20 World Cup got going
in Japan and the USA celebrated a 4-0 thrashing of Ghana in their opening match. Maya Hayes scored
a hat trick after Ghana's Linda Addai scored an own goal to get the scoreboard rolling.
The USA face China on Friday, 23rd August, at 5:50 EST.
East Providence's Kyle Teixeira (#17) breaks into the box against the Clube Recordações
defense in Sunday's 10-1 rout.
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. Kyle Teixeira scored a season-high five goals to lead East Providence
Sports to a walloping 10-1 win over Clube Recordações in LUSA League action on Sunday.
Due to a wonderful weekend travelling to Massachusetts, I was spared the bother of watching TFC
stumble against Philly 3-0. So I may have had a more optimistic mindset than many at BMO Field
tonight. It seemed subdued before the game, the crowd had a lack of energy and little anticipation.
It seems that shifting TFC from the team that always loses to the team that most of the time ties
has yet to set the city ablaze.
Fans United is a supporters consortium consisting of Manchester United fans groups, fanzines and
supporters. We have been in talks with Manchester United officials about introducing a singing
section to improve the atmosphere at Old Trafford.
The club have offered us the current away section at Old Trafford to use as a singing section
next season and the aim is to bring back the atmosphere and colour of the old Scoreboard Paddock,
making this section a fans area and raising the volume at Old Trafford.
Bugger. I suppose we didn't really deserve much, but nevertheless, it's always a shame to lose
in injury time, and especially from a mistake. In this case Mark Schwarzer parried a drive from
the edge of the area straight back towards the penalty spot, and Andreas Wiemann bundled home after
two attempts (the first miraculously saved by Schwarzer).
