This week we focus on teams that are on a run, who have several wins on the trot, or having a
hard time breaking a winless streak. As always we cross the globe to choose our matches England,
Germany, Italy, Holland, Brazil, and Japan. This week's guest predictor is Mike who is a fan of
Manchester City.

With 32 names in the bag (irrespective of how they got there) thoughts can now turn to the subject
of the draw for the 2010 World Cup Finals in South Africa.
The first thing to be decided is which countries to seed. This is calculated just before the draw
and is based on past performances in recent World Cups and the FIFA World Ranking.

Okay okay, I guess I have to write something about this Thierry Henry hand ball or something.
Here is the obligatory (and slightly sarcastic) background info already reported: The World Cup
playoffs are seeded, seemingly hurting the minnows like Republic of Ireland. Then, Ireland are
given an away game in Paris for the second leg, presumably giving them yet another
disadvantage.

On a chilly night in Donetsk, the Greek National Team warmed the hearts of its supporters as
Dimitrios Salpingidis netted a quality strike to post a 1-0 win over Ukraine at the Donbass Arena
on Wednesday. After a score-less draw in Athens on Saturday, Greece secured their spot in next
summer's

As you know, we complain about injuries, even though a lot of other clubs (Liverpool, Chelsea)
have plenty of injury problems of their own. But we now have fully eleven players injured, and
crying doesn't help, so why not have a little fun with it?
Our 11 players could be configured into a lineup:
Fabianski
Traore-Djourou-Clichy
Denilson
Walcott-Wilshere-Diaby-Vela
Bendtner-van Persie
An unconventional formation, sure.

A brief statement on Arsenal's website updates RVP's status. He will be traveling back to London
this week and resuming his care with the Arsenal medical staff at London Colney.
They also confirm the 6 week convalescence period.
Elsewhere in the Arsenal blog world:
Arseblog mentions, the silver lining is the pretty straightforward series of fixtures till Xmas
other than Chelsea and Liverpool (both clubs have their injury woes too).

So very late last night Australian time, unfortunately the Aussie girls had their first loss of the
AFC under-16 tournament when DPR Korea came back to clinch a 4-3 win in the 85th minute. Australia
had scored first, in just the 8th minute through Brittany Whitfield and but then Korea equalised in
the 18th minute.

Well I'm sure you've seen the score by now. I don't really have the heart to repeat it. You may
have noted that this is incredibly late. As I said previously I had to visit England to visit my
dying grandmother (she passed late Monday night), I got home yesterday at midnight Texas time, 6 AM
my body clock time, after no less than 24 hours of traveling.

So, a nice, relatively comfortable win on Monday brought us up from ninth to joint fifth.
We got the three points we so desperately needed, as well as a little bit of reassurance for the
players and fans. Beating a team like Larissa with a score of 3-1 is always a nice thing. Sure,
Larissa might not be at their best, but they are rarely an easy team to win against (I feel like
I've said that many times already this season).

We start off this week's predictions with the Asian Champions League final as football increases
in popularity in Asia this competition is going to get a bigger and bigger profile. Staying in
Asia, we have a crunch game for the leaders of J-league, then some big games involving some the
front runners in England, France and Spain, before we go south to a basement battle in
Argentina.

The Chicago Fire routed the New England Revolution 3-0 in the return leg of the Eastern
Conference semifinals to advance 3-0 on aggregate (ASN, Nov. 7, 2008).
The 3-0 score was one goal higher than ASN's chief Fire pundit had predicted on the eve of the
match. With the victory, Chicago finally reversed a multi-year streak of exiting the playoffs at
the hands of the Revs.

At least Barca drew with Rubin Kazan this time, but in no way did they impress. Something
about Champion's League play has the boys from the shore playing snake-bitten...and I think I know
what it is.
Â
Take a look at the crew from Barcelona and answer me one question. Even though they are the
reigning European Champions (and have a huge bullseye on their backs)Â do you think they kind of
expect to be in the Final 16?

Real's humiliation brings back the faith in the game. These days I have been thinking whether
Florentino Perez is just an amateur who thought he knows football or is it mere
profit he is into.
Simply, no man would make the same mistake twice. Los Galacticos one were
tragic but this other version looks like a group of clowns.

Robbie Findley, MLS's Player of the Week during the last week of the regular season

The score came late in the game, and it became apparent early on that Columbus would have been
happy to get out of Rio Tinto with a nil-nil draw, but RSL was just as determined to get a win at
home.

I'll keep this very brief.
I don't care what they've achieved recently or in the past. I don't care how much better they are
than us. I don't care how big their stadium is or how illustrious their manager is. I don't care
what players they've got or whether their better than ours or not.
The truth is they're a bunch of cheating, arrogant, whining Frenchmen and no matter the score today
or any other day, we will always,
always be the pride of North London.

During the summer of 2006 the press predicted the downfall of Manchester United after our two
best players had seemingly fallen out during the World Cup.
Apparently there was no way they could both continue at the club and we were doomed.
When on the opening day of the season we beat Fulham 5-1 with Rooney and Ronaldo both scoring
and helping each other score, there were lots of disappointed people!

This may seem like an odd departure during the Playoffs, but if the team does it why shouldn't
we. Coach Schmid found a way to get his Reserves and Subs more playing time by getting together
with the Seattle Wolves. He did this even while his senior side is smarting from the nil-nil
draw.
Coach on why they played a Reserve match today
"It was important for the guys who haven't been playing as much to get a solid 60 [minutes]
