Mmm ....... Roland Martin seems quite comfortable in his ascot. Too comfortable.
Roland Martin, CNN's most vocal homophobic bigot gets all frothy and excited over the David
Beckham undie ad that aired on Super Bowl. With friends like these, does Obama need any
enemies?
He probably thought seeing the ad would turn half of America's menfolk gay.
For today's introduction we are going back into the mists of time, when men were men and not
floppy overcooked strings of spaghetti like Busquets, Nani and Pepe.
England were World Champions and Man Utd had recently won the European Cup. For
the younger reader who has grown up in the Sky era, there can be no understanding of the excitement
and national pride that both events stirred.
Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany foolishly got himself sent off early on in yesterday's
FA Cup derby after a dangerous tackle on Nani. The defender went in with both feet off the ground
and with a scissor kick took the ball away from Nani who, unsurprisingly, got out of the way of the
challenge.

I'm willing to venture, with reasonable confidence, that this - Gerardo Masini's angled
scissor kick against Atessa Val di Sangro in Italy's Serie D is the best goal you're going to see
today...
Not bad, not bad at all. In fact, I'd be willing to go to 'impressive'.
Harry Redknapp enjoyed a successful return to the Tottenham Hotspur dugout tonight as he saw his
side stroll past Aston Villa 2-0 at White Hart Lane. With the win, Spurs are up to third place in
the Premier League table, four points behind Manchester United with a game in hand.
The spotlight this season has been on the two Manchester sides, and problems and both Arsenal
and Chelsea and nobody has paid any real attention to a Spurs side that is much better than the one
that finished fifth last season.
It was a beautiful night in New England and I took my daughter and her friend to see the New
England Revolution play the San Jose Earthquakes. As usual we sat in The Fort, which was a lot
smaller and quieter than earlier in the season. Whether that was due to the Revs overzealous
policing of The Fort, or because of the Revs poor play this year, I don't know.
Quick Recap:
The Portland Timbers comes out flat again on the road and goes down a goal early. Salt gets
rubbed in the wound when a penalty is called a red card awarded in the second half. Portland goes
down 2-0.
First Half:
For the first 10 minutes of the game Portland looked like the team that came out against New
England.
Cristian Ronaldo provided a great assist to Benzema vs. Getafe. It was a great pass that reminded
us of such great passes of the quality by Pele, Maradona, Platini, Zidane and Messi.
The Japanese Yoshida scored a wonderful scissor kick vs.
Here are some collection of very old goals from the archive, mostly are non-famous goals or at
least not over-consumed by media such like the WC goals. Okay, to say it is historical, i selected
them to be at least 20 years old, so they are up to 1991, I will arrange them historically
1961, I start with this goal from the 1961 European Cup final, scored by, Czibor , a Hungarian
player who used to play in Barcelona.
Everything was going so well. Sure, a few harsh and untimely challenges from both clubs, but it
will always be an element of this bitter rivalry. For ninety minutes (plus the ninety from the
first leg on Sunday), Real Madrid and Barcelona wowed the masses with a display of football that
puts both clubs light years ahead of the rest of the competition.

Thanks Moses, Jesus and Chewbacca the Premier League is back though, we can't lie, the opening
day was a little bit on the pap side here's our pick of the photos...
Newcastle 0-0 Arsenal: Joey Barton hoists Gervinho to his feet after the Ivorian had
collapsed in the Newcastle penalty area looking for a spot-kick.
After losing 2 -1 to Manchester United last week Barcelona lost 4 - 1 to the Mexican Club Chivas
in a World Football Challenge game.Marco Fabian scored a brilliant scissor kick that will easily
rival Rooney's famous goal.Barcelona were without Lionel Messi,Daniel Alves, Javier Mascherano and
Alexis Sanchez but even so 4 -1 is a bit of an upset.
It seems like every week there is a new BEST GOAL EVER in MLS, and this Saturday a new choice
has been added to an impressive list. In Sporting Kansas City's 4-2 romp over Toronto, Kei Kamara
scored the first goal of the match off a Jéferson corner kick. The kick deflected off a Toronto
defender right to Kamara who did his best Wayne Rooney impersonation and unleashed an awesome
scissor kick, which you can see here:
So what do you think?
Sporting Kansas City got their 9 game home stand started the right way last night against Toronto
FC, scoring 3 first half goals and added a fourth in the second to defeat the reds 4-2 at
LIVESTRONG Sporting Park. The way the game started though, it looked like the result could have
gone the other direction.
I will start with a volley from Nehterlands with a superb scissor kick for Pa Modou Kah (Roda v VVV
Venlo)
Next, amazing kick by a keeper, I could not know from which country. All I can know that it seems
that they speak Spanish
Next, is from Saudi Arabian Cup Final, when Al-Hilal defeated Al-Wihda 5-0, a very nice volley
Another volley from Sweden
Van Persie's first goal against Wolverhampton yesterday did not make the news.Nowhere near as
spectacular as Rooney's strike but a scissor kick nevertheless.

Alex Ferguson said he'd never seen a goal like Rooney's scissor kick yesterday.
But Berbatov has been scoring off scissor kicks for Man Utd with monotonous regularity.
Here's one against Liverpool..
Here's another one - this one against Sunderland..
And the first goal in this next video - against West Ham
Berbatov may be feeling a little bit put out by the fact that his own scissor kick efforts are
not getting the same amount of attention as Rooney's.
I picked four interesting videos for this week, the first is a very interesting goal from Russian
league when Lokomotiw beat Plowdiw 4-0
My second pick is from Napoli when Cavani scored a hattrick. He scored 17 goals so far for Napoli
this season, in the best season so far for this club since Maradona left.

football for Barcelona in 2001.
Vitor Borba Ferreira. Rivaldo. He is regarded as one of the greatest players of our
generation.
