Imagine a time when Arsenal had a decent back four –

HA.

No, not ‘The Invincibles" – they were a pale shadow of the 1998/99 quartet that stood as a brick wall. In front of Seaman roamed Adams, Dixon, Keown and Winterburn – together they allowed a miserly 17 goals, thirteen less than the next best record that season.

Robin LOVED to skydive but was terrified of heights

No Cup glory for Leeds then. Arsenal were deserved winners in this easy-on-the-eye FA Cup replay at Elland Road. Samir Nasri opened the scoring with a composed finish past Kasper Schmeichel, then goals by Sagna (a fierce striker) and Van Persie put the game beyond Leeds.

A result to put a smile back on our faces, a Nasri inspired Arsenal waltzed past a doggedly determined Leeds side to halt the slide against Championship opposition.

The game kicked off with some tough challenges signalling a hard fought encounter but we soon got our passing game going, Arshavin and Chamakh combining nicely before the latter dummied the return of a one/two letting a besnooded Nasri slip through the centre of defence and bury the ball in the 5th minute.

Well that was much more like it. A convincing 3-0 win over a fairly disinterested West Ham made sure we kept pace with Man City and put a litle bit of pressure on United as they face their bi-annual win over Sp*rs later on.

The line-up was as expected and the performance from the lads a far cry from that against Ipswich.

Arsenal 1 Leeds 1
There's a very nasty tendency among Arsenal fans to pick on individual players when the game isn't going for us.
The thing about the Leeds match, was that things just weren't going for us. Leeds weren't creating anything, but frankly, neither were we. And we can have no complaints about the penalty we conceded.

Arsenal continued to find ways to get to goal only to be thwarted by poor finishing and Kasper's Schmeichel's goalkeeping. When the son of the Danish legend failed, Jonathan Howson was at hand to effect a goal line clearance.

Then came the moment which changed the match. Denilson stuck his leg out in unthinking fashion to trip Max Gradel after the Leeds winger got past him.

Not quite the game I wanted to see and certainly not the result.

Leeds United came with a plan and stuck to it. In some ways it was similar to what Newcastle did at the Emirates. The visitors went tight on each man and reduced the passing options. They pressed well and in coordination. The Arsenal players were able to move the ball at the back but weren't able to penetrate the lines with any sort of consistency.
