Those who woke up early on Sunday morning were treated to one of the best Premier League games of the season.

Manchester City used a last-minute penalty from Mario Balotelli to beat Tottenham 3-2 and go six points clear at the top of the table.

Jurgen Klinsman, Jermaine Jones and Ricardo Clark. The first a German, and famous at that. The second a mix of American and German, currently playing his club ball with Schalke 04 in der fatherland. If the January U.S. Men's National Team camp was all about wins, adding Jermaine Jones might have been the correct decision. That has never been the case.

The January camps, instead, have always been about giving deserving, often overlooked, players in their offseason a chance to impress while their more established European colleagues are in the midst of their season.

Jermaine Jones might currently be serving a lengthy ban for Schalke 04, but that does not mean he will be without playing games until it is over.

In the midst of serving an eight-week suspension for stomping on an opponent's injured foot, Jones has been called into the U.S. men's national team camp by head coach Jurgen Klinsmann.

After first saying it intended to appeal, the club decided to accept the penalty instead.

So after weeks of uncertainty over Marco Reus's future, Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund were finally able to land the services of the highly rated attacking midfielder.

Germany's Federation has announced that Jermaine Jones will have to serve an eight week suspension for a yellow card offense during Schalke 04's 3-1 loss to Borussia Moenchengladbach on December 21st last year. Jones stepped on Marco Reus's foot, with the German Federation judging the foul intentional.

Jermaine Jones may have issued an apology for his stomp on Marco Reus' injured foot, but the German Football Federation (DFB) is having no remorse on the U.S. international.

The DFB has handed Jones an eight-week ban for his actions in Schalke 04's 3-1 loss to Borussia Moenchengladbach in the German Cup Round of 16.

DFB Pokal (German Cup) holders Schalke 04 were dumped out of this season's competition by Borussia Mönchengladbach following the latter's 3-1 home win in Wednesday's Round of 16 tie.

Borussia Mönchengladbach ensured that there would be no repeat triumph for Schalke 04 in this year's DFB Pokal.

Brad Friedel made waves with his comments about Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey this week, but its his team that has been making waves in the Premier League recently. Friedel and Tottenham Hotspur have not lost in the Premiership since the second week of the season, but they'll have to see off tricky Stoke City this weekend if they are to continue their run of good form.

Betting sites has tipped Tottenham to take home the silverware, but the odds are now against them even exiting the group stages.

With two weeks until the final matches of the Europa League group stages, 14 clubs have clinched spots in the knockout rounds of the cup with a game to spare. With the eight teams that finish third in their UEFA Champions League groups transferring over to Europe's second-tier competition, that leaves 10 spots.

Oguchi Onyewu got the start for Sporting, beating FC Zurich 2-0 at home to win Group D. Ricky van Wolfswinkel opened the scoring in the 15th minute, with Valeri Bojinov doubling the lead in the 58th. Boeck Marcelo needed one save for the shutout. Jermaine Jones went the distance for Schalke 04, beating Steaua Bucharest 2-1 to qualify for the next round.

2011 was a season to remember for HJK. Not only did ‘Klubi' won their third consecutive title and the Finnish Cup (overall their 24th league championship and 11th cup victory), but they did this in a swashbuckling fashion. The Helsinki team finished the season with a 24-point lead to second-place Inter and scored a whopping 86 goals in 33 matches while conceding only 23.

The U.S. men's national team returns to action on Friday with a match-up against France, a match that should tell us plenty about the current state of Jurgen Klinsmann's team.

Who the hell is Royal-Dominique Fennell? I have no idea and you probably don't either unless you are Brian Sciaretta, Philneezy or German. Apparently though he plays for Stuttgart Kickers, his dad is (surprise!) a U.S. serviceman and he's been called up to Caleb Porter's U-23's.
