With the upcoming Cascadia Cup match against the Portland Timbers arch rivals the Seattle
Sounders just over a week away, there are undoubtedly a lot of fans who are placing their remaining
hopes of the season on winning the regional trophy. After all, with the chances of making the play
offs all but mathematically ruled out, there's little else for Timbers fans to get excited for.
Hamilton this time, again capturing the anger that SFL feel about the position they've been put
in. And still no response from the SPL "no to newco" majority that could help allay these
fears.
Coupled with the earlier statement from Raith might we be moving to a position where the SFL
clubs refuse to take any vote on admitting the Rangers newco?
Time is running short on Clint Dempsey's hopes at moving clubs before Friday's summer transfer
deadline, but Fulham manager Martin Jol revealed that potential for a move is there as the club has
ongoing talks with others about a transfer for the U.S. national team star.
Jol used Sunderland by name in his latest comments, marking the second club he has specifically
identified as a potential landing spot along with Liverpool.
Stoke visit Anfield for the second time this season, with the two clubs facing each other for
the fourth time overall, this time for a chance to progress to a Wembley semi-final. While
Liverpool's form in domestic cup competition has been sparkling the League Cup's already been
secured and they've scored 13 goals in their three FA Cup wins Stoke hasn't hasn't been much worse,
and given the narrow finishes in their three previous fixtures this season, there's no reason to
think that tomorrow will be any different.
It's almost not worth writing articles during the transfer window these days since you don't know
who to believe unless you actually talk to the players themselves. And even some of them don't have
clue what's going on. Looking over the headlines regarding Theo Walcott and his contract
negotiations with Arsenal you'll see there are about two dozen different scenarios offered by
various writers and newspapers.
Imagine it's the first home game of the season and, as the Arsenal players emerge from the
tunnel wearing the world's best football kit, all the camera lenses are trained on one man.
That man is Robin van Persie – our "want-away Dutchman" who stayed after all. He may even be
wearing the captain's armband.

I don't know where to begin. I was so positive about this summer and the coming season. I wrote
a post on here "Van Persie, Van Mystery"- in which I admitted the fears, but espoused the hopes of
the fateful meeting between Arsène, Gazidis, and van Persie..I now notice how I naturally refer
to each.

Having just read that our talismanic striker and captain isn't renewing his contract, a summer
that has been positive to date now looks like like a mixed bag.
There's a few different scenarios where we might end up with this now. The most unlikely is an
about-turn from Robin and him renewing [.
It doesn't happen all that often, but Mario Balotelli caught a break.
Balotelli will not be disciplined any further for his studs-up stomp on Arsenal midfielder Alex
Song's knee in their match over the weekend, The FA announced on Tuesday. It appears that Balotelli
has escaped further punishment -- which reports said could have been up to nine games -- because of
a technicality.
Nothing is certain but death and taxes... and not losing to Spurs. They may score from the half
way line in the last minute, plain for all to see, but it won't be given. They may be 3-0 up at
half-time, but we'll score five in the second half. They may believe they have a freekick after one
of our players blatantly handballs it, but the ref will play advantage and we will score a goal
regardless.

Mistakes. They happen to all of us.
Whether it's asking for mustard instead of mayo (yuck!), dialing a wrong number (oops!
Just as the transfer window has opened up DC United has made two speculative player moves. Given
his small salary, Long Tan, acquired in a trade from Vancouver, is low risk as an addition to a
fairly large cadre of forwards. Branko Boskovic is the high risk/reward signing and he needs to see
more playing time to justify his new contract.
Day five commenced much the same as the previous day with Barca B training. Rondos for 10
minutes then some warm up exercises and straight to 11 v 11 action to prepare this weekends game
against Nastic. Coach would pause and rehearse certain scenarios of what to expect on defense and
offense.
The Men's Olympic Tournament concludes the Group Stage (Preliminary Round) on August 1, 2012
with several of the quarterfinal spots up for grabs. The hosts, Great Britain, have not yet
qualified for the next round and likely need at least a draw against Uruguay. Group B could be the
most interesting all four teams have a chance to advance.

Day 4 began with Barca Atletic (Barca B) training at 10:45am at Cuitat Esportiva. They started
with the typical rondos (circle keepaway) and dynamic stretches. Second activity was tactical
training preparing for this weekend's opponent who will likely press them off their goalkicks,
marking all 4 of there options closely so they cannot play out of the back comfortably.
Welcome to tonight's In-Game Blog for the match between the U-23 Men's National Team and El
Salvador. We'll have all the information on this massive game for the USA, including lineups,
pre-game facts and in-game notes form Nashville. First though, the game between Cuba and Canada.
This game has big implications for the USA's advancement scenarios.
With the U.S. playing in the critical third game of Group A tonight against El Salvador, here are
the scenarios for which the United States can advance to the semifinal and in which position.
The U.S. will finish in first place in Group A if:
Our friends at Dirty Tackle inform us that Argentinian side River Plate have been disparagingly referred to as 'chickens' since letting a two-goal lead slip in the second leg of the 1966 Copa Libertadores final against Penarol. Opponents Quilmes spotted a great opportunity for a visual gag and released some chickens on the pitch ahead [.
In a greatly improved Eastern Conference just a few slip-ups can make a world of difference in
the playoff hunt. The New England Revolution learned that the hard way recently as their playoff
chances fell dramatically from a possible and promising 38.1% to a highly improbable and
pitiful 4.
Don't look now but MLS just registered a new domain name... CityFC.com
No telling what it could mean but one of four possible scenarios could play out from it:
1. MLS and an unknown group have signed a contract for the 20th franchise in new York City to be
named simply "City FC" since New York is often just referred to as "The City.
The greater the tournament's stature, the lower the threshold for death-threat inducing
refereeing decisions. Plus it's just fun to cause problems from time to time.
The opener between Greece and Poland had a couple such scenarios, with an early red card (two
yellows) for the men in blue that was pretty suspect, but more importantly: that damn handball in
the box.
By J Hutcherson - WASHINGTON, DC (Apr 11, 2012) US Soccer Players -- In a follow-up to yesterday's
column on the scenarios facing several National Teamers Abroad clubs, it's easy enough to pick
one-day winners, losers, and open questions without it having a whole lot of meaning. In the
Bundesliga, Hannover 96 took advantage while Schalke 04 didn't.
BRIDGEVIEW, Il -- The plan for the Chicago Fire this season was to kick off right where they
left off in 2011 and it seems that they're doing just that.
A piece of brilliance from Marco Pappa and Dominic Oduro was all it took as the Chicago Fire
handled a struggling Philadelphia Union side with a 1-0 victory Saturday night at Toyota Park.
