Getting autographed scarves from Kasey Keller in random places turns into a crappy promotion for a
crappy beer. Gag me.
Keller's web page reads: "Where in Belltown can you grab a Bud Light, a burger with sweet potato
french fries and watch a ton of sports?"

A striking new memorial could be erected in Liverpool at the 21st anniversary of the Hillsborough
tragedy.
The metal artwork, to be funded by the public, is set to be unveiled in the city next April by the
council's Lord Mayor office.
It is expected to be initially stationed in the Town Hall ballroom before being moved to different
locations within the city centre.

If only those scarves were bandagesFresh news out of Anfield is reporting that Albert Riera and the Israeli Landon Donovan (Yossi
Benayoun) are going to be out for a month with muscle injuries.
It's been a rough season for the Merseyside Reds, with most of their stars having sat out for at
least a few games.

It's been a long, strange trip for young Lucas Leiva since he first stepped foot on the Anfield
pitch for the first time in the summer of 2007. The midfielder was a highly publicised signing,
after he made his way from Brazilian side Gremio for around £6 million to Merseyside quickly
becoming a star-in-waiting.

It happened right in front of me, and by the lack of reaction on Keller's face it took me a sec to
even realize what had happened!
If you check the highlights page on the Dynamo site, you get the Telefutura call ("QUE GOLAZO!!")
and then the Dynamo radio call, with James Clarkson yelling so loud I think it knocked them off the
air for a second or two.

Readers and friends: I have never expected to make a living from this blog, but it has become a
joy to write and edit over the past three years, taking up about 20 hours of my time per week. I'd
like to be able to keep committing that much time, but it is getting increasingly hard to justify
as I'm in grad school and I don't have any other income to speak of.

There's something about the new Premier League intro that plays before each game that bothers
me. If you haven't seen it, take a minute to watch it first (click the video above). It's
definitely a feel good video that illustrates the global appeal of the Premier League from Africa
to Asia and other continents.

I gotta say the English are a funny bunch. When they're not getting shitfaced and vomitting in
people's front gardens they have a wierd and wonderful collection of interests. They travel miles
round the country to stand on wet and windy railway platforms to make note of railway engine
numbers. They dress up in period costumes and re enact historic battles.

(Can a simple name change effect results?)
Last Friday, August 21st, 2009 was in my opinion a small step back for football in this country.
The controversial day marked the end of World Soccer Daily, the only daily football talk show in
America. The sense of community that I & so many other American European football fans found at WSD
will truly be missed.

There is always something special about the first game of the season: making your way along a

the forthcoming season, shaking hands with acquaintances, all of which you only ever see at

defence to put Arsenal back on top of the table.

On Saturday, July 11th, the RailHawks travel to Charleston to defend the Southern Derby Cup (a
trophy we have never lost). After the 2-1 loss at WakeMed Soccer Park earlier this season, Carolina
will need at least a two goal victory at Blackbaud Stadium to secure the Cup. According to the
Derby rules, any scoreline of a 1 goal victory from Carolina would lead to the two teams sharing
the spoils and of course, a draw or a loss by the RailHawks would turn the prize over to the
Battery.
