I also hate stuff like this

The Fake Sigi Schmid Blog 19 November @ 08:17 PM EST
Getting autographed scarves from Kasey Keller in random places turns into a crappy promotion for a crappy beer. Gag me.
Keller's web page reads: "Where in Belltown can you grab a Bud Light, a burger with sweet potato french fries and watch a ton of sports?" Click to continue reading...

Lucas Leiva Interview: I’m willing to sweat blood for Liverpool

SoccerLens 11 November @ 05:01 AM EST

It's been a long, strange trip for young Lucas Leiva since he first stepped foot on the Anfield pitch for the first time in the summer of 2007. The midfielder was a highly publicised signing, after he made his way from Brazilian side Gremio for around £6 million to Merseyside quickly becoming a star-in-waiting.

Because it has to be seen and said again

Nutmegged 09 November @ 07:08 PM EST
It happened right in front of me, and by the lack of reaction on Keller's face it took me a sec to even realize what had happened!
If you check the highlights page on the Dynamo site, you get the Telefutura call ("QUE GOLAZO!!") and then the Dynamo radio call, with James Clarkson yelling so loud I think it knocked them off the air for a second or two. Click to continue reading...

Support Pitch Invasion, Get an Exclusive Scarf

Pitch Invasion 09 November @ 04:52 PM EST

Readers and friends: I have never expected to make a living from this blog, but it has become a joy to write and edit over the past three years, taking up about 20 hours of my time per week. I'd like to be able to keep committing that much time, but it is getting increasingly hard to justify as I'm in grad school and I don't have any other income to speak of.

What is MLS? The Best Thing to Happen to Canadian Soccer Since 1986

A More Splendid Life 01 October @ 12:21 PM EST
Running around a bit today, so here's a feel-good story. I hadn't read this comment in full when I posted my story about De Ro scoring the golden goal; amazing how resonant it was north of the border. Here's Duane Rollins in his own words:

Premier League Misses The Mark With Intro Video

EPL Talk 14 September @ 05:45 AM EST

There's something about the new Premier League intro that plays before each game that bothers me. If you haven't seen it, take a minute to watch it first (click the video above). It's definitely a feel good video that illustrates the global appeal of the Premier League from Africa to Asia and other continents.

English nutters and websites

Jakarta Casual 05 September @ 08:06 PM EST
I gotta say the English are a funny bunch. When they're not getting shitfaced and vomitting in people's front gardens they have a wierd and wonderful collection of interests. They travel miles round the country to stand on wet and windy railway platforms to make note of railway engine numbers. They dress up in period costumes and re enact historic battles. World Soccer Daily Reborn As World Football Daily: Will It Survive This Time?

EPL Talk 30 August @ 01:10 PM EST

(Can a simple name change effect results?)

Last Friday, August 21st, 2009 was in my opinion a small step back for football in this country. The controversial day marked the end of World Soccer Daily, the only daily football talk show in America. The sense of community that I & so many other American European football fans found at WSD will truly be missed.

Friday MLS Forecast

March may not be the right word to describe how Sounders FC fans journey from Pioneer Square to Qwest Field on game day. March or no march, it's still a pretty darn impressive sight to behold.

Real Madrid v Toronto Match Thoughts

Soccer Tickets Online 08 August @ 05:29 PM EST

Last night I went to the Real Madrid v Toronto game at BMO Field in Toronto. The tickets were my Fathers Day gift to my dad. Female Sounders Fans: Why must you take off your clothes?

Charleston Southern Derby Roadtrip Logistics

TriSoccerFan 08 July @ 06:20 AM EST
On Saturday, July 11th, the RailHawks travel to Charleston to defend the Southern Derby Cup (a trophy we have never lost). After the 2-1 loss at WakeMed Soccer Park earlier this season, Carolina will need at least a two goal victory at Blackbaud Stadium to secure the Cup. According to the Derby rules, any scoreline of a 1 goal victory from Carolina would lead to the two teams sharing the spoils and of course, a draw or a loss by the RailHawks would turn the prize over to the Battery.
