After the FA decided to strip John Terry of the England captaincy for the second time in two
years over a charge for which he has not yet been tried, Fabio Capello has decided that he's had
enough of being disrespected and undermined and resigned from his position. With Euro 2012 mere
months away, FA chairman David Bernstein must find a suitable replacement to lead England out of
the current cycles of scandals and disappointment.

Some of the back-room workings between Jack Warner and FIFA are starting to come to the
surface.
Warner reportedly claimed that in exchange for drumming up support to get Sepp Blatter elected
in the 1998 FIFA presidential election, he secured the television rights to the World Cup for his
native Trinidad & Tobago for a single dollar.
In this week's review of the footballing action, we congratulate Barcelona on becoming champions
of the world and feature two financial scandals: one from Spain and one from Italy.
Catching up on all the tidbits you might have missed during the week that was. More, after the

Back in action
First, Jack wrote a brilliant piece on the return of one Sam Hutchinson this morning which
deserves recognition. So, before going any further, read here.
Watch out AVB Roman's itchy finger is already on the trigger...
The owner — having been served a writ while shopping in a West End boutique — is now
spending his days wrangling over Russian billions in a London high court. The captain — having
endured scandals which included an alleged affair with a team-mate's ex-partner — is at the
centre of a racism investigation by police and the Football Association.
The curtains were finally drawn on the Calciopoli trial yesterday when chief suspect Luciano
Moggi was found guilty of sporting fraud and sentenced to 5 years and 4 months in prison.
The 74 year old was director of Juventus during the infamous 2005/2006 season when the club was
demoted to Serie B for its involvement in match fixing scandals that saw them win the league that
season.
Fans at the Root of Racism Rows
Let me kick off by saying that racism has absolutely no place in football, nor any other walk of
life for that matter. Anyone found guilty of it should be punished with an iron fist to ensure that
their irrational intolerance of other races is not allowed to spread like the repugnant plague
that it is.
Dodgy parents! Team-mate affairs! Public urination! The Top 10 John Terry
scandals
Poor old John Terry is in hot water again following allegations that he racially abused QPR
defender Anton Ferdinand. As the investigation into that particular scandal gets underway, here's
10 other moments that the Chelsea and England star might want to forget.
It is never easy being an England fan. The side seems to be either woefully underperforming, in the

Arsenal to sign Porno Midget? Plus Mike Parry's latest football innovations
As an undersized midfielder who few in Britain have heard of, Udinese's Gabriel Torje is
naturally a top transfer target for Arsenal's Arsene Wenger. Yet there's a hint that the Romanian
might not be the kind of clean-cut youngster Wenger loves to sign.
Juventus: Old Lady, new lease of life is a post from: Just Football
by Gianfilippo Scarpati
The 8th of September 2011 marks an historic date for the old lady of Italian football. The
opening of a new state of the art stadium is every bit reflective of the new lease of life she has
had breathed into her.
The news that Wayne Rooney's father and uncle Richie were arrested today over allegations of a
football betting scam has to have set off alarm bells at Old Trafford as well as the English
FA.
The arrests were in relation to a game between Motherwell and Hearts in December last year in
which Motherwell midfielder Steve Jennings was arrested after allegedly getting himself sent off
deliberately during the match.

Match fixing, betting scams and financial irregularities: six other scandals from
football's murky past
Wayne Rooney's father was arrested today in connection with an alleged football betting scam.
Sadly the beautiful game's murkier past is littered with scandals. Here's six of the most
notable.
If Seinfeld was famously the show about nothing, then Spurs are the Seinfeld of football, at
least for now.
In the past I've been relieved and grateful when things have gone quiet. I cherish rare moments
of peace and quiet to punctuate the bedlam of the season. No scandals or internecine arguments, the
media looking elsewhere, not to mention winning football matches.
Firstly, I'd like to apologize for not having posted anything recently, my internet connection
was limited the past two weeks while I was away and so I couldn't really get a post up.
Enough has happened since then though, and Im not sure where to begin. There has been talk on
and off about the match fixing scandals, though (and Im not surprised at all) it seems Marinakis
won't be touched any time soon.

Watching the France-Canada game of the Women's World Cup yesterday, I was exhilarated by the
playing of the French side. Their dominance in the game was a surprise to many, and to me, and also
a little ghostly: suddenly, I was watching the sort of flowing, graceful, entertaining French
football which for the past years had existed mainly in my imagination.
*They're bracing for a huge crowd for a much anticipated U.S.-Mexico Gold Cup final in Pasadena
where temperatures are expected to top out at in the 80s.
Kickoff is at 6:10 p.m. incidentally, live on Fox Soccer Channel and Univision. I'll blog live
from the game.
Notable: It's the first time in 11 years Mexico and the U.
The fix is in Wham! Several match-fixing crises right on top of each other tell us that there are
still serious problems with the bona fides of the professional game. Even more disturbing is the
fact that the scandals have been spread across different regions and continents. Finland Top-flight
club Tampere is under investigation for [.
Just a week ago, the football world was up in arms over the various scandals and accusations
surrounding FIFA and CONCACAF. Sepp Blatter's re-election went through despite attempts by the
English FA to delay the vote, sponsors were being threatened with boycotts if they continued to be
complicit in FIFA's corruption.
Just Desserts #7 is a post from: Just Football
We're back with another of our irregular doses of excellent football reading material to be
found elsewhere around the interwebs. The following come highly recommended:
1) YOU MUST READ THIS PIECE by the magnificent Tim Vickery, who picks up a bat,
finds a ball, takes that ball and smashes it out of the park with this brilliant piece on FIFA and
certain quarters' hypocritical reaction to the ongoing scandals at FIFA.
This blog is at heart about my love affair with soccer, an affair that is unwavering after five or
six years. From very early on I became aware of the corruption that has been in our game and that
is in our game at a high level. I was more properly informed about it after reading Andrew
Jennings' book, Foul!
Brazilian journalists who flew to London for the Champions League final were struck by the
importance given in the English press to the recent scandals surrounding FIFA. The story is not
playing anything like as big back home.
European cynics might argue that this has something to do with a certain South American
tolerance of corruption.
I've sort of kept my peace about FIFA and their madness as of late. Same goes for the drama with
CONCACAF yesterday. Honestly I've been busy with work and other soccer ventures that I just didn't
have the time or energy to comment.
Well this photo just about sums up all the energy I have to talk about it.

FIFA Flea Circus!FIFA is nearing fully chaotic meltdown with new scandals being thrown around almost everyday. Its
like the greatest circus of all time.
In the months leading up to and during the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa, the French
National Team found itself and its players involved in numerous scandals. One of the most infamous
of those scandals involved allegations that Franck Ribery, Karim Benzema, and Sidney Govou had sex
with an underage prostitute.
As everybody is doubtless already aware, Manchester City and Manchester United face each
other at Wembley for the first time this weekend, in the first of two FA Cup semi-finals. To mark
this, we are running a week's worth of articles about football in the city of Manchester, kicking
off with an overview of a city rivalry that has intensified in recent years.
