FFTW: Fro for the win. As I tried to stress last week, this is going to be a new era in the blog.
Didn't bother to write a Friday, EPL(*) "preview" post, but we'll do some rapid-fire, knee jerk
Saturday morning reactions. (*) Look, I realize EPL isn't the proper nomenclature as the league is
technically the "Barclay's Premier League" but everybody in America uses it.
Thanks to the random thought I just had when writing the title, I now find myself listening to
the Clash! What a great way to spend a Saturday morning. Sadly though, I don't think I will be
getting too much enjoyment out of writing this piece.
So Arsene has given one of his first interviews as Arsenal manager since the end of last season,
and the news couldn't be much better!
Saturday is going to be a full day for Fire and Aston Villa supporters. From the Supporters
Friendly Saturday morning to the actual friendly match Saturday night, it will be a chance for Fire
fans to mingle with the fans of a Premier League club rich in history. Let's just say that it's not
everyday that you have the chance to see and English Premier League club playing in our very own
Toyota Park.
He was so excited about being Poland's out-and-out Number One as they set out to try and win the
Euros on home ground.
Instead he woke up on Saturday morning knowing that his main contribution to the national cause
may turn out to be helping to ensure that Poland fail to qualify from the group stages.

The summer of unrest has descended upon us, bringing in the usual speculations subdued by delays
in transfer activities, caused by the Euros and worsened by terribly bad weather. There are not
many things worse than getting up on a Saturday morning and realizing that there is no footy and it
is raining outside.

The EPL's bad boy Mario Balotelli was again doing what he knows best (creating controversy) when
he was pictured leaving a strip club early Saturday morning just hours before their home game
against Bolton Wanderers.
Though he did score, his actions ended up costing him a two week fine worth £250,000.
Man City striker Mario Balotelli once again answered his critics by scoring in their 2-0 home
win over Bolton yesterday. Of course, yesterday's victory was very important not only for City
and their title hopes but for Balotelli who reportedly was out early Saturday morning partying at a
strip club despite coach Mancini's strict 48 hour curfew on game day.
Why can't I get a Gillette endorsement? Just picks this weekend, no meandering essay. Try to
contain your disappointment. Nothing worse, too, than the fact the Premier League weekend -- again
-- is bracketed by the two best matches, meanwhile we get both Manchester City and Chelsea against
lower half of the table opposition Saturday morning.
Barry Robson has to learn that MLS refs are different than European refs. (Getty Images)
I wish I had more time over the weekend to really go into this. Saturday morning an email went
out to the media regarding the suspension of Vancouver Whitecaps midfielder Barry Robson for his
actions on last Wednesday night against FC Dallas.
In theory, it's way too early on a Saturday morning to be typing, but a coughing son is wide
awake and there's little convincing him that bed is a better option than dragging me downstairs.Â
Perhaps he's just too excited about the Merseyside Derby cup match this morning to sleep? Not
likely, as he's sitting on the main computer playing pbskids.
The already short-handed Vancouver Whitecaps will be a little more so after learning that
Designated Player Barry Robson was suspended for Saturday's game against the Seattle Sounders. The
MLS Disciplinary Committee announced the punishment for "aggravated dissent against an assistant
referee" on Saturday morning, just hours before the scheduled kickoff time.
This is a fantabulous female footy weekend. It starts Saturday morning with the USWNT facing
Canada in a friendly at Rio Tinto in Sandy, Utah at 11:00am. This is the final game prior to the US
team heading to the London Olympics. Rapinoe, Morgan, Solo and Leroux will be facing a team that
they beat 4-0 in Vancouver this past winter.
The squad for Arsenal's tour of Asia was supposed to be announced yesterday at around lunchtime.
As of this moment, early on a Saturday morning, that announcement has yet to be made.
There were reports that aside from everything else Robin van Persie would not be going on the
tour. The line being peddled is that it's a fitness thing but under the circumstances I don't know
that anyone will really believe that, especially when further reports of bids from Man City, Man
United and Juventus emerged.
Remember when you were small (or in Chary's case, smaller)? Â Morning break out came the
football, lunch break, out came the football, after school out came the football. At weekends, a
game Saturday morning and another in the afternoon, often playing until dark in summer.

New York Red Bulls Red Bulls centerback Wilman Conde was arrested early Saturday morning and
charged with aggravated assault on a police officer.
According to the Bergen Record, Fort Lee police responded to an early-morning noise
complaint.and found Conde and a friend "intoxicated and belligerent to the responding officer.
The Revolution 18s claimed a 2-2 draw against Player Development Academy at Durfee High School
in Fall River, Mass. on Saturday.
It was a weekend to forget for the Revolution Youth Academy, as the 16s and 18s went a combined
0-3-1 on Apr. 21 and Apr. 22 against a pair of New Jersey-based clubs.
Soccer For Cartoons: How The Beautiful Game Was Made For Saturday Morning - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
When you grow up in America, the phrase "Saturday morning" evokes one indelible memory burned into sugar-addled minds by hours of blissful TV consumption: cartoons.
For a brief window of time in our school age years, Saturday morning cartoons were like 52 little Christmas mornings a year, each one an orgiastic explosion of teeth-rotting cereal goodness and classic animated high jinks.
In a move that comes as a surprise to no one, US Soccer announced on Saturday morning that
women's head coach Pia Sundhage is resigning to pursue opportunities in her home country of Sweden.
Sundhage had hinted that she would be moving on after this past summers Olympic Games in London.
Sundhage, who just finished [.
Saturday morning. All lamp-posts and signs on Tooting High Street have yellow, green and white
balloons attached, which is odd and perhaps, I think, a bad omen. We're car-less at present so I
put two big bags of Fulham Reviews on my back and cycle to the ground. I get there not long after
12, covered in sweat and thirsty as a desert.
After the U.S. WNT's win over New Zealand on Friday in the Olympic quarterfinal, Saturday was of
course another travel day.
After breakfast on Saturday morning, the players who didn't start or played limited minutes against
New Zealand did a on-field workout in Newcastle, while the rest ran through their usual
day-after-game regeneration and yoga.
Portuguese starlet Joao Carlos Teixeira made his first appearance in a red shirt when he appeared
during the U18s' friendly 8-1 win over Exeter on Saturday morning.
The midfield playmaker, who arrived at the Academy from Sporting Lisbon, enjoyed a 25 minute
run-out in the second half.
The Portuguese youth international didn't feature for the Academy last term because of a niggling
back problem, but now fully fit, he is set to be a regular in Kirkby this season.
The Central FC Select Strikers Under-16 girls team earned a 1-1 with the Houston Express on
Friday morning at the U.S. Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup in Sacramento, Calif.
The Strikers lost to New York's Capital United Fusion 5-1 in their opener Thursday and close out
round-robin play Saturday morning against California's Platinum FC Cleary.
It's a question I have always wanted to ask you all now that I have a "following" on here and on
TWITTER. Chelsea have always been a part of my life for as long as I can remember and I just
wondered what you story is, I am talking to you the fan reading this post.
So often people go to websites or blogs and just have a read at what is being written or being
discussed and never post their own views or opinions.
The goals keep coming for Anthony Santaga (Green Bay Notre Dame), Carlos McCrary
and the Madison 56ers.
Santaga had five goals and McCrary added three goals and an assist on the day as the 56ers
cruised past Croatia Cleveland 6-0 and Minnesota side Cardinals 5-0 on the first day of the U.

Euro 2012: an early apology. Perhaps, just perhaps, it's all going to be OK.
Waking up in Poland on Saturday morning, there was a sense of expectation at eastern Europe's
first major football tournament having been not just surpassed by a free-scoring, snag-free and
above all largely peaceful opening day, but giddily so.
Eintracht (red/black shirts) plays FC Bayern in an U-19 game
Hi everybody, I'm back! Yes, it has been a while since I've written anything new for the blog
and I won't bore you with the reasons for my prolonged absence. It's also been a while since I went
on an Away Day to Frankfurt am Main and wanted to share with you the joys of celebrating promotion
with my favourite German club Eintracht Frankfurt.
The story goes that, back in early February, four-year old Sam Livingstone made Newcastle newbie
Papiss Cisse a 'Welcome to Newcastle' card at school (while he should have been making his Mum a
Valentine's Day card) and sent it to the Senegalese striker.
Speaking candidly to the Evening Standard, Andy Gray has admitted that he considered killing
himself in the months after both he and Richard Keys were sacked by Sky Sports when a slew of the
pair's sexist remarks were made public back in January of 2011.
