Newcastle United defender Danny Simpson has lauded the club's traveling fans as they kept it
loud and proud at White Hart Lane throughout the Magpies' humiliating 5-0 defeat to the Spurs on
Saturday evening.
On a night when Simpson and his teammates could have broken into the league's top four with a
massive win, they came out stuttering in North London, conceding four first-half goals en route to
their disastrous loss.
Andre Villas-Boas admits that being leapfrogged for the fourth place by London rivals Arsenal on
Saturday left a bitter taste, particularly since his Chelsea side had played out what he refers to
as the club's worst match of the season.
Ahead of the Blues' 2-0 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park, under-pressure Villas-Boas had
acknowledged that his men are in the midst of a disappointing Premier League season and need
significant improvement.
While Harry continues to dominate the headlines there's the small matter of our Premiership
fixture against Newcastle United on Saturday evening as Spurs prepare to welcome their boss back
into the dugout.
Normally at this stage of proceedings we have an injury update and the club will be sweating on
the fitness of a number of players including Jermain Defoe, Rafael van der Vaart, Younes Kaboul and
Aaron Lennon.
On Saturday evening, Houston Dynamo goalkeeper Tyler Deric and midfielder Warren Creavalle were
arrested outside of the Roosevelt Bar on Washington Avenue in the Heights. The various reports
indicate that Deric and Creavalle as well as Will Bruin and Alex Dixon were denied entry and they
believed that the grounds for said denial were based on the bar's apparent racist policies.
While it wasn't exactly backs to the wall for 90 minutes as some media reports are suggesting,
Tottenham had to show a great deal of resilience to come away with a draw from yesterday's
encounter at Anfield.
After the game, Assistant Manager Kevin Bond hailed a ‘different type of performance' as Spurs
took a valuable point from the match.
A couple of years ago Absolute Radio e-mailed to ask if I would appear on the first edition of
their new Saturday afternoon football show. It was new, exciting and interactive. Ian Wright in the
chair, he wanted a sparky show with comment and bite. Spurs were playing and they wanted to hear
from the fans.

Even my wife wondered why on earth Spurs were playing football on a Friday. By the end of the
match I knew exactly what she meant. As it was ESPN, perhaps Spurs prepared for the Saturday
evening game, because they certainly weren't ready for this one.
This was dire, as disorganised as Harry's tax return.

(Twitter)Each week during the season I'll post an updated MISL Power Ranking which will be based off the
cumulative results and current strength of each team.
We are half way through the Serie A season; Juventus were crowned winter champions after a hard
fought 2-0 away win at Atalanta. Roma hit five on Saturday evening at home against Cesena where
Francesco Totti hit his 211th goal for the club. Inter Milan won their eighth straight game in all
competitions after defeating Lazio at the San Siro 2-1.
We are now half way through the Serie A season and the main performance of the week 19 weekend was
Roma's 5-1 win over Cesena on Saturday evening. The Luis Enrique project now seems to be taking
shape. Later that night Juventus won away at Atalanta and with that win were crowned winter
champions. Inter Milan now have won eight games in a row in all competitions after beating Lazio
2-1 in.
So that's the title challenge put to bed for another year- I must say it was terrific fun while
it lasted. Barely had I got the blue and white bunting down from the loft after our win against
Everton, was I then tossing it into the fire with all my tax returns again on Saturday evening.
Easy come, easy go.

Jordi Gomez claims Wigan will welcome Liverpool to the DW Stadium on Wednesday confident in their
ability to pull off another shock result.
The Latics impressed many observers on Saturday evening as they stunned Chelsea with a dramatic
late show on home soil.
Gomez's goal two minutes from the end of that contest saw Wigan take what could be a priceless
point from the title-chasing Blues.
Sunday night Roma won the Derby del Sole at the San Paolo beating Napoli 3-1. Inter Milan won away
at Cesena, Juventus' brilliant start to the season continues and AC Milan won at home to Siena
Saturday evening, looks like the traditional top four of Italian Serie A are back as the lead pack.
Saturday 17th December Three games on Saturday night; the first was Chievo with a home victory

How Mourinho was nothing special in El Clasico defeat
MirrorFootball has teamed up with some of the blogosphere's best new writers to bring you even

www.spanishfootball.info's David Cartlidge with his take on the week's big issues in Spain.
A ro-dent in Real's title hopes It might sounds like a dodgy Samuel L. Jackson sequel, but
Barcelona had to beat rats on a plane before they could triumph over Real Madrid on Saturday
evening. Pep Guardiola's team were held up when it emerged that an infestation of Madrid-based rats
had boarded their plane.

Saturday evening sees Real Madrid welcoming Barcelona to the Santiago Bernabeu for the first
league El Clasico derby of the season, and to whet your appetite we've put together a bumper
gallery of some of the finest still images the game has produced down through the years.

If, like me, you consider car (and perfume) adverts to be little more than pretentious
audio/visual litter then this may not be your cup of tea.
That said, Audi's pre-El Clasico (I think I'm right in saying they sponsor both Barcelona and
Real Madrid in some capacity) viral has a really nice pay-off after a few minutes of obligatory
slow motion a huge piece of football artwork that you'd think they'd have made a bit more of,
rather than just flashing it up on the screen for a split-second at the end.

The Baltimore Blast completed a perfect 5-0 road trip with a 10-4 victory over the Rochester
Lancers on Saturday evening at the Blue Cross Arena. The victory moved the Blast to 5-1 on the
season and 2 1/2 games ahead of the second place Lancers who are now 3-4.
1. Mario Balotelli responded to his latest bout of controversy with a typical shrug of the
shoulders, but he put it to great effect on this occasion. 2. Feed the Yak some Venky's chicken and
he will score. 3. The 'Kean Out' protests are always likely to sound a tad more hollow after a 4-2

If you're reading this, you'll be familiar with the story that broke yesterday morning.
This is one of those posts I'd have preferred not have written: it's an unfathomable tragedy
that any 42 year old family man should apparently chose to end his life in such a devastating
manner. I didn't know Gary Speed, but I knew about him: he was one of the best Welsh players of his
generation and looked as if he was about to oversee a long overdue revival of the fortunes of the
Welsh national team.
Sunday afternoon we have a very entertaining clash in Sicily where Lazio manager Delio Rossi
returns to his old stomping ground bringing his new Fiorentina squads to the stadio Barbara. Delio
Rossi recently took over at the helm at the Viola after Sinisa Miahjlovic was sacked during the
international week.
While Abou Diaby and Tomas Rosicky look to have been confirmed as available for the Gunners, Fulham
Arsenal's opponents on Saturday evening have far more significant injury concerns. Republic of
Ireland international Damien Duff is out of the clash at the Emirates with a calf problem and
countryman Stephen Kelly's groin injury keeps [.

Blast improve to 2-1, sit 1/2 game back of first in the MISL Eastern DivisionAfter a grueling overtime win in Missouri the night before, the Baltimore Blast seemed to not show
much fatigue in their 12-6 victory Saturday evening against the Wichita Wings in front of 4,211 at
the Hartman Area.

You could've had staked your life savings on Brian Clough being absolutely fuming with the Notts
County defence come 5 o'clock last Saturday evening, were Old Big 'Ead still with us of
course.
The Magpies travelled up to Yorkshire that morning knowing they had the opportunity to well and
truly piss on Huddersfield's bonfire a club on the brink of breaking a very prestigious
English Football League record.
Jose goes riding Real Madrid has a topsy-turvy encounter with Valencia on Saturday evening. Despite
taking the lead three times in the 3-2 victory, it took a late goal from Cristiano Ronaldo to
secure the three points. When CR7 did find the net his manager, Jose Mourinho, could not contain
his relief.

Disappointment is really the only word that seems to come to mind when you think back on the 18-7
season opening loss the Baltimore Blast suffered at the hands of the Syracuse Silver Knights. The
game was eerily similar to last season's 16-7 championship game loss to the Milwaukee Wave.

This golden retriever puppy was settling in to enjoy a bit of Saturday evening telly, but that
pesky Cesc Fabregas chap decided to kick a football behind his TV. Even the dog couldn't understand
how the Barcelona midfielder failed to find the net.
Former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has mocked England by suggesting that the only way the
Three Lions could score against his Spain side was from a set piece and that the visitors dominated
throughout the 90 minutes at Wembley on Saturday evening.
World champions Spain lost 1-0 after Frank Lampard got at the end of a free-kick sequence to nod
home the only goal of the match.
Jordan Henderson expects to have England career
Jordan Henderson could be forgiven if he is slightly wistful when he takes his seat in the
stands at Wembley on Saturday evening and casts a glance towards the pitch.

Fernando Torres believes that the reason behind his disappointing goal return since moving to
Chelsea in January is playing in a city as busy as London.
As the Spaniard prepares for his nation's exhibition match in the English capital Saturday
evening, he has expressed a belief that London's reputation as one of the most happening cities in
the world comes with a price: a lower comfort level.
Manchester United defender Phil Jones and Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart are astonished to
find two of their club teammates nowhere within the sight of England's squad ahead of Spain's
highly anticipated visit to Wembley on Saturday evening.
Jones, who has been tipped as the future leader of United's defense, is still coming to terms
with the exclusion of current leader Rio Ferdinand while Hart fully expected to see in-form
right-back Micah Richards picked for the exhibition against the reigning World and European
Champions.
Wembley 'special' for Premier League's Anglo-Spaniards

'special' for the Premier League's Spanish contingent.

Why City have all the credentials to be champions
Joe Hart was insistent. In the wake of the FA Cup Final win over Stoke in May, he was asked if
the victory sent a message to Manchester United. "Today," he said," is nothing to do with
Manchester United. It is about us.
Reina: Facing duo will be special
Pepe Reina is relishing the prospect of going head-to-head with some of his Liverpool teammates
when Spain visit Wembley on Saturday evening.
