South America's flagship competition, the Copa Libertadores, is up and running
for another season with the group stages kicking off this week. 32 of Latin America's finest will
compete to succeed Santos as champions, and thanks to the increasing strength of
the Brazilian economy and the country's increasing ability to keep hold of and attract their finest
countrymen, Brazil is once considered the trophy's most likely destination come the final in
July.
Coach Tozer thanks the fans after his 700th victory. By: Brandon Arendt
On a day that saw literally everything go Milwaukee's way, history was made. Wave Coach, Keith
Tozer, became the first coach in American Soccer to reach a historic 700 victories. All on the legs
of a dominating 25-10 performance by the Wave over Syracuse.
Sorry I'm just reposting the press release today, not feeling the greatest this morning.
From the Comets.
(Syracuse, NY) The holiday season didn't start off the way the Comets hoped it would as they lose
to the Syracuse Silver Knights tonight 18-8. Cory Elenio and Savisa Ubiparapovic each had a hat
trick for the Knights while Lucas Rodriguez led the Comets with 4points on two goals.

Game after game the Lancers have proven that their learning curve is short. Each
game a new lesson learned. Still the onlookers were apprehensive as the Lancers took the field
against their league rivals the Silver Knights whom had just bested the
Blast.
by Ed BishopA tight, see-saw contest through the first two quarters turned into a blowout victory for the
Missouri Comets as they downed the Syracuse Silver Knights 23-10 on Sunday afternoon at the
Independence Events Center. The lead changed hands four times during the first half of a very
physical and often chippy contest and the Knights actually took a one point lead early in the third
quarter before the Comets unleashed seven unanswered goals on the expansion Syracuse squad to send
them on the long drive home with their fifth straight loss.

There is a clear favorite in CONCACAF Champions League Group D. And while it is true that the
Mexican side in every group is favored, the Seattle Sounders face last season's CCL Champions - CF
Monterrey Rayados. Last season saw the Sounders hold a 2-nil lead with a mainly reserve lineup, but
then Humberto Suazo entered the game and in 6 short minutes Seattle went from history makers to
just another footnote.

The recent World Cup draw didn't receive nearly as much attention in Brazil as one might expect
thanks in large part to a spectacular game that same week between Flamengo and Santos, which
dominated the headlines. Flamengo came from three goals down to claim a 5-4 victory, and the two
star attractions didn't disappoint, as Ronaldinho and Neymar carried their respective teams.

Needing just a victory or a 0-0 or 1-1 tie to beat Mexican champion Monterrey and become the
first MLS team to reach the FIFA Club World Cup, Real Salt Lake lost 1-0 at home last night. The
loss ended RSL's 34-game home unbeaten streak in all competitions.
What should have been the most important win by an American club in the MLS's 16-year history,
instead turned into a heartbreaking loss.
According to Pete O'Rourke at Sky Sports News, Fulham are lining up an offer
for Fiorentina midfielder Mario Santana, who
will be a free agent this summer.
Santana has been linked with a move to Tottenham in the past.
Monterrey will be without the services of two of their players -- Aldo De Nigris and Jesús Zavala
-- in the second leg of the Champions League final due to yellow card accumulation, but last night
it looked like they would be without three additional players due to injury. Luís Pérez went off
due to a hamstring injury, and Sergio Santana and Osvaldo Martínez picked up similar injuries.
This is a summary of the disciplinary and refereeing situation in the CONCACAF Champions League
going into the first leg of the final. Monterrey vs. Real Salt Lake Referee: TBA The following
players are suspended for the first leg of the final: None The following players will be suspended
for the second leg of the final if they receive a yellow card: Javier Morales (RSL) Kyle Beckerman

But what's really happening is they're holding hands, the big brother leading his (tiny) little
brother in the same direction.
Fiorentina and Sampdoria played out a 0-0 stalemate at the Stadio Franchi. Sampdoria were coming
into the game on a low after an embarrassing performance on Wednesday night, losing 1-0 to rivals
Genoa. The home side were also coming into the game on a bit of a downer after losing 2-1 at home
to title contenders Inter also on Wednesday.
