The Seattle Sounders have added a PDL team to their youth development program, partnering with
the Tacoma Tide and rebranding the team as Sounders FC U-23. The team will be coached by current
Sounders academy director Darren Sawatzky and play somewhere in Pierce County, although a permanent
home has not yet been determined.

It's been over 24 hours since the U.S. Open Cup Final ended but after so much wind-up, there
needs to be some wind-down. Somel thoughts on the final separated by pressing topics and

It was almost the perfect redemption to an unaccomplished season for the Chicago Fire. Winning
the U.S. Open Cup for the fifth time in club history would have overshadowed all of the losses,
unnecessary draws, and most importantly, potentially missing out on the playoffs.
Hey, hey, hey. Another Major League Soccer club is close to putting shovels in the ground and
building a brand new facility to call their own. CenterLineSoccer is reporting that the San Jose
Earthquakes' proposed new stadium has gone through the neighborhood scrutiny and could be on their
way to getting this facility built.

On a lighter note, here's a post offering some behind-the-scenes insight.
The following is our original email sent to the University of North Caroloina, the nations most
prestigious women's program. I'm sharing this now that our girls team (our first and likely last)
has aged out.
Hello Chris and UNC Staff,
I am writing you with regards to what in my opinion is the best Center Back in this age
group.
Greg Garza made his second appearance for Estoril in a loss Santa Clara while Tony Taylor was an
unused substitute.
It was a busy first day of training camp for the U.S. WNT with almost all of the players arriving
this morning and a meeting and training in the afternoon. Surprisingly, weather didn't cause anyone
to miss practice. The U.S. team finished the session with a 9v9 on big goals over half a field.
U.S. head coach Pia Sundhage didn't shout before the scrimmage, "Hey, who wants to be on the World
Cup Team!
Been meaning to do this piece for awhile. In fact, killing two birds with one stone here as our
SF club team, the Black Sox, got a refresher on the same info heading into the January's playoffs
this evening. (Update: Thankfully after a red card induced MMA-meets-soccer affair in the 1st game,
we cruised to our first 2011 championship in the 2nd.
