San MartÃn de Tucumán
The eighth round of the 2012 Torneo Clausura came to an end on Sunday night with Estudiantes de La
Plata's unbeaten record left in tatters by defending champions Boca Juniors. Santiago Silva finally
opened his account for Boca before the ... Continue reading →
At last, after much coming and going, it's confirmed: the 2009 Torneo Apertura will begin this
coming Friday (and in time for the new season, we've got a bit of a surprise for you, of which more
later in the week...). A discussion on Saturday at the AFA saw a planned schedule for the weekend
[...]
The goals from the final round of the 2009 Torneo Clausura are online now, and you can watch them
on the TN Sport blog by clicking here. As usual, if you want to know which teams are wearing which
shirts to tell the games apart, just read on and I'll give you the running order [...]
After the finalÃsima comes the rather more mundane business of recording the scores from the final
round of the 2009 Torneo Clausura. Vélez took the title and Gimnasia de Jujuy and San MartÃn de
Tucumán both go down, as we already know, but elsewhere there were wins for Boca and San Lorenzo,
one last humiliation [.
The big finale of the 2009 Torneo Clausura has seen its first act played out with a late winner for
visitors Lanús in Tucumán and a victory for the hosts in La Plata which see Gimnasia La Plata
secure a relegation playoff spot ahead of San MartÃn de Tucumán, who go straight down to B [...]
The final weekend of the 2009 Torneo Clausura is upon us at last, and it's going to be a dramatic
one. Racing and Newell's celebrate having nothing to play for to kick things off on Friday night,
whilst Saturday sees Central take on Godoy Cruz in a match that could be vital to next season's
[...]
If you were wondering why I've not written much here on HEGS about the upcoming final weekend of
the 2009 Torneo Clausura season, including the 'finalÃsimo' between Vélez Sársfield and Huracán
and the relegation battles on Sunday, it's because I've been talking about them. Frequent HEGS
comment-botherer, journalist, and fellow webmaster over at Mundo Albiceleste [.
For those who aren't already aware, the 2011 Copa América will be played in Argentina, and on
Tuesday AFA President Julio Grondona met with Argentine President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner
to start thrashing out the details. It's been agreed that the main venue for the tournament will be
La Plata's Estadio Municipal (currently home to [.
The goals from the eighteenth round of the 2009 Torneo Clausura are online now, from San Lorenzo's
win over Independiente to San MartÃn's victory in Rosario and the results for Vélez and Huracán
which take the title race to the last day. Click here to watch them and read on for the running
order. Running order [.
The title race is going down to the last weekend in two weeks' time and will be decided when the
top two, Huracán and Vélez, play each other in Liniers, after the latter drew with Lanús to
leave the Granate out of the race. San MartÃn kept their slim chances alive, as did [...]
With their backs to the wall, San MartÃn de Tucumán won on Friday night. Any other result would
have relegated them, but as they worked their way to a 1-0 victory away to Newell's Old Boys, El
Coloso Del Parque reverberated to fireworks. This result, you see, makes things a little more
difficult for Newell's [.
The penultimate round of Torneo Clausura matches is played this weekend, after which we've got a
fortnight's gap due to next week's Argentine elections. Vélez Sársfield would win the league on
Sunday if they beat Lanús and Huracán lose against Arsenal (two matches which will be played
simultaneously).
The goals from the seventeenth round of the 2009 Torneo Clausura are online now, and you can watch
them on the TN Sportblog simply by clicking here (and then clicking play). If you don't know which
teams wear which shirts, or are confused over the identities of the teams playing in La Bombonera
(due to [.
Sunday's two clásicos saw two unheralded winners, although given recent form they weren't,
perhaps, huge surprises. Huracán won away to San Lorenzo (in La Bombonera) for the first time in
seven years to maintain the pressure at the top thanks to absolutely useless marking at a corner
from Diego Simeone's supposedly solid defence.
Back to the league after the thrills and spills of the international break. Three matches remain,
and this weekend the endgame gets going with two clásicos on Sunday one in La Bombonera, where San
Lorenzo will be the 'home' side, and one in Avellaneda between Racing and Boca. The clash between
River and Tigre [.
The goals from the sixteenth round of the Torneo Clausura 2009 are online now, and you can watch
all of them on the TN Sportblog by clicking here. If you need to watch along with a running order
of the teams as they appear on the video, just read on. Running order for TN Show de [...]
Vélez Sársfield got a win to keep the pressure on leaders Lanús which also relegated Gimnasia de
Jujuy after three seasons in the Primera A. Elsewhere on Sunday MartÃn Palermo turned in a vintage
performance as Boca Juniors beat San MartÃn de Tucumán, Tigre saw off Copa-distracted
Estudiantes and there were dull draws in La Plata [.
Leaders Lanús host Diego Simeone's San Lorenzo in a clash of ideologies on Saturday.
Independiente's slimmed-down squad take on Rosario Central in a match that could be key to the
relegation fight, especially if El Rojo decide to lie down in order to make things tighter for
rivals Racing (mind you, how will we tell [.
The goals from the fifteenth round of the Torneo Clausura 2009 are online now you can watch them on
the TN Sportblog by clicking here. If you want to know what order the games are coming up in on
this vid, but can't understand Spanish / don't know the teams' kits, just read on... Running [...]
Sunday's matches saw Racing edge a little further clear of Rosario Central in the promedio thanks
to a draw against title-chasing Colón, a few hours after River Plate and Independiente had served
up a veritable feast of complete and total bloody incompetence with a second half that saw three
three!
Two clásicos this weekend, with Banfield hosting Lanús and River Plate at home to Independiente
in a meeting of two sides who both badly need a win at the moment. Vélez second in the title
running - are at home to Boca, who'll be desperate to get back to winning ways after Thursday
night's Copa Libertadores [.
A bumper goal video this week takes in 37 goals spread across all ten matches from the weekend just
gone (River Plate and Gimnasia de Jujuy were the only sides not to find the net). Click here to
watch it it's the second video down. The first just shows you some 'amusing' images from [...]
Sunday's last matches ensured River Plate weren't the only utterly embarrassed team this weekend
and both the humiliations occured at Huracán's ground. Independiente got given a thorough
going-over as the 'home' side against Estudiantes. 2-0 up at half time, Alejandro Sabella's boys
ran out 5-1 winners.
Vélez Sársfield visit Gimnasia La Plata on Saturday hoping to extend their lead at the top of the
Primera División table, with second-placed Lanús set to host Rosario Central the night before, in
Friday's second match. Even when they're seventh in the table, every Racing match is a relegation
decider, but if they beat San [.
For the second week running I've been obliged to keep you all waiting until Monday evening for the
scores, for which I apologise. Read on for those, and click this link to watch the goals from the
weekend courtesy of the TN Sportblog. You'll find the usual running order for that video after the
rundown [.
In Ricardo Caruso Lombardi's world, Vélez Sársfield vs Racing this weekend is a title-deciding
match. Since he took over at the Avellaneda club they have, incredibly, picked up the same number
of points as the current league leaders. Something's got to give on Saturday. Elsewhere there are
clásicos in the Nuevo Gasómetro (whose predecessor, the [.
Sunday's matches saw both River and Boca lose - the former in circumstances rather more pathetic
than the latter, with another truly chaotic performance - whilst Huracán edged out Godoy Cruz and
Racing got a 4-1 win over Arsenal to match the score of local rivals Independiente the previous
day. All the scores and scorers [.
There are no Friday night games this weekend, sadly, but since the fixtures go up on HEGS at the
same time every week, here they are per usual for you to plan your weekend around. There's a
half-derby in El Cilindro and a match in Tucumán which will prove important at both ends of the
[...]
All 22 of the goals from the eleventh round of the 2009 Torneo Clausura are online now, and you can
watch them on the TN Sportblog in glorious technicolour, simply by clicking this link. If video on
its own isn't enough for you, and you'd also like some text telling you which teams wear which

River Plate didn't have an easy welcome home from their fans following the midweek elimination from
the Copa Libertadores, but just about got past Gimnasia de Jujuy anyway, thanks to Marcelo
Gallardo's assist - with his first touch after being brought on at half time - for Radamel Falcao
GarcÃa. Elsewhere on Sunday Central saw [.
The weekend's clásico in the Nuevo Gasómetro was one, like last week's super, in which a certain
amount was lacking. Both sides seemed as preoccupied with guarding their own goal as each other,
and less so with trying to score for themselves. An incredible finale, though, saw Racing snatch an
equaliser from the jaws of [.
The eleventh round of the 2009 Torneo Clausura pitches two of the title contenders against each
other in Santa Fe - the winner of Colón vs Vélez will finish the weekend on top of the table
(unless it's Colón and Lanús do something unspeakable to Godoy Cruz in Mendoza). Argentinos boss
Claudio Vivas is playing [.
The goals from the tenth round of the Torneo Clausura 2009 are online now - watch them here on the
TN Sportblog. Read on, as usual, for the running order of this video, as well as a link to TN's
highlights of yesterday afternoon's superclásico in La Bombonera. Running order for TN Show de
Goles: Vélez (white shirts [.
Away from La Bombonera, there was action that was more meaningful, if anything, to the league
standings. The lead went from Colón to Vélez, but is now shared between the Liniers club and
Lanús, who beat Tigre on Sunday evening. Racing actually took the chance they were presented with
to climb a little further away [.
The tenth round of the 2009 Torneo Clausura gets underway tonight, and a match between two sides
who are off the pace in the race for the title has been taking up all the attention in the
Argentine media for days now, and will on Sunday give Argentina the chance to show its league off
[...]
The top three have had a game of musical chairs this weekend, and thanks to Lanús losing, Colón
drawing and Vélez winning, it's the boys from Liniers who reach the halfway point of the campaign
on top. Neither River Plate nor Boca Juniors prepared in an ideal manner for next week's
superclásico - it's normally [.
No clásicos this weekend - San Lorenzo hosting Vélez will be the closest we get, with the home
side having just been knocked out of the Copa and lost their manager as a result - but there are a
couple of crucial ties, not least in Rosario, where Central host Racing in a game that [...]
Our Argentine readers will no doubt want to put the midweek international to the backs of their
minds as quickly as possible, and the AFA are obliging them by getting league action back underway
post haste. Friday night sees second-placed Colón visit fifth-placed Huracán, whilst Vélez vs
Banfield on Saturday should be a good one.
