October 3, 1976 - Tampa Bay Rowdies midfielder Dennis Wit made his USA debut in a scoreless draw against Mexico. The match was part of the failed USA campaign to qualify for the 1978 World Cup. Wit had joined the Rowdies earlier in the 1976 season in a trade from the San Diego Jaws.

No sé si de plano ya hemos caído bien bajo, pero no me parece que un partido amistoso sea para probar jugadores y darle un espectáculo pauperrimo a una afición que bajita la mano pagó por el boleto mas barato 40 USA dls.

Si Javier Aguirre quiere probar jugadores, quiere ver con quien va a contar, pues que haga partidos con los equipos de la Primera División mexicana que están haciendo pretemporada urgidos por conseguir algo para quedar listos para el Apertura 2009; pero no se vale que promuevan un partido donde ni siquiera era la selección B mexicana y cobren como si fuera a jugar Brasil vs.

Y miedo porque USA se fue dolido de la confederaciones, tuvieron el triunfo en sus manos y se lo arrebataron, miedo porque esta misma selección (que no jugara la copa oro) llegara al estadio azteca no buscando quien se las hizo, sino quien se las va a pagar, y es que no jugaron mal, ni se equivocaron en algún momento del partido, simplemente es que enfrente estaba Brasil.

With slightly fewer big names and vastly reduced budgets, the new league appears to be staying within its projections. Chicago red Stars W-League affiliate clinched the W-league Midwest Division title Sunday with a 2-0 win over Kalamazoo.
Chicago Gaels reduced their magic number for second place in the W-League Midwest Division and a playoff spot with a 1-0 win over Minnesota yesterday.
