In the demise of WPS, the WPSL (2nd tier, alongside the W-League in which the Sounders Women
play) is forming an Elite Soccer League in 2012 for some former WPS teams to continue playing.
This story reports of Seattle committing to a team for 2013 alongside San Diego, Los Angeles,
Sacramento and the Bay Area.
In honor of the fact that the U.S. is playing Venezuela the University of Phoenix Stadium, and that
the stadium staged Super Bowl XLII, and that it's playoff time in the NFL, we decided to look at
the USA's record in venues that have hosted the Super Bowl.
The U.S. has played in 13 stadiums that have hosted the domestic American Football championship,
one as many as 15 times (Rose Bowl).
The U.S. WNT had some special guests at training today -- the U.S. Under-18 WNT. The U.S. U-18s
are currently in camp in San Diego and drove up the coast to take in the USA's evening training.
Not only did they witness an intense practice, getting an up-close look at training at the highest
levels of women's soccer, but they also got brief talks from Abby Wambach and Christie Rampone.

You knew this was coming. In fact, I'm surprised it took this long. The locos at PETA have sued
Seaworld on behalf of five killer whales. According to PETA's lawsuit, Seaworld is "enslaving" the
sea creatures.
Amazingly, PETA is even pointing to the 13th Amendment as reason why the killer whales should be
set free.

There are times when covering soccer is not all that fun. Ridiculously tight deadlines, dealing
with uncooperative people, dull matches... been there, done that.
But there are also times when soccer is superb. Now is one of those times.
I'm writing this post from a hotel in Morelia, Mexico, where I've traveled to for the Galaxy's
Champions League match against Morelia.

Real Madrid played the World Football Challenge match against Club Deportivo Guadalajara in San

proceedings.
Real Madrid won 3 - 0 incidentally.

This has been a hot-topic really since day one for Chivas USA, playing in the Home Depot Center.
Most fans would love to see them get their own place which in a way would make the SuperClasico
rivalry with the LA Galaxy even better in my eyes.
Chivas USA co-owner Antonio Cue confirmed Thursday to MLSSoccer.

team that eliminated them from the NASL playoffs in 1979 and 1980. The Sting scored only one goal
but it was enough to beat the Sockers this time. Arno Steffenhagen scored midway through the first

It's time for us to have an adult conversation about Major League Soccer and where the winds of
expansion will blow next.
This one is going to be difficult for some people; the truth will sting a little. But it's a
conversation that needs to happen, so let's sit down and get this over with.
Y'all know about Joe Corona? No? Neither do I. Apparently he's some San Diego kid who plays for the
club with the most unwieldy name in Mexican futbol, Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles De Caliente. Never
heard of them either? I could see that but since they have a hairless dog as a mascot and what
appear to be out-of-work roller derby chicks as cheerleaders you might want to get down.

We found out today that Rachel Buehler did ballet when she was little. Rachel told us that one day
her teacher looked at her and asked, "how come your quads are so big?" The 10-year-old Buehler, who
at that young age was obviously already showing signs of the physical attributes that would one day
make her the "Bueldozer," answered excitedly that she also played soccer, tennis, did horseback
riding and surfed.
