Finally, a glimmer of hope for Philadelphia Union.

Two goals (in the same game!), a win over a German power Schalke 04, and now a visit by a New York Red Bulls team fully infected by the Ewing Theory.

Bet you're looking forward to seeing Rafa Marquez trot out on that field, aren't you?

English Premier League

Don’t tell me that you think it’s green …

I suppose it's axiomatic to say that Arsenal's is a much more green and pleasant land in the aftermath of a good victory. The scorched earth of transfer deadline day has (temporarily at least) given way to the first flower of spring. I still have my misgivings about the squad, but there seems little point in recycling them now.

Today, Arsenal won 3-0 against Aston Villa at the Emirates. It was our seventh Premier League win in a row and that gives us a three-point advantage over the Spuds, who could only draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge earlier in the day. It was also the first time since 1997 that the Gunners had two English goal scorers in the same game.

Don't look now, but it's not even September and these games have all the fire and excitement of the playoffs. Montreal and Columbus didn't get the memo about being rollovers and Seattle hasn't taken kindly to being labeled inconsistent at the beginning of the season. Real Salt Lake is losing hold on the second place position in the West and Kei Kamara scores for two teams in the same game.

You're Typical Sporting KC vs Toronto FC Game

Yesterday was the 7th game between Sporting Kansas City and Toronto FC at BMO Field and yesterday's game was extremely similar to the previous 6 match ups. Games that were for the most part dull and lacking good finishing chances. For only the 4th time in the 7 games one of the two teams scored. Not once have both teams scored in the same game, and there have been only 5 goals in the 7 games.

After nearly seven seasons of soccer played by the Houston Dynamo, we've started to accumulate enough data to begin looking at statistical trends. I've never been a big statistics guy myself, unless we're discussing baseball, simply because applying statistics to a game like soccer is difficult. Sure it can provide some interesting information, fancy graphs and some data trends, but it's very difficult to make broader term assumptions about the game or teams because the sport is in such an ever changing state.

The Houston Dynamo are coming off consecutive bye weeks, but that does not mean the well-rested club is not facing some serious issues ahead of its match against the Chicago Fire this Sunday.

With Adam Moffat and Colin Clark already suspended for the game, the Dynamo could be down a third midfield starter with 2011 MLS MVP runner-up and assist king Brad Davis nursing a calf injury that he suffered in training over the weekend.
