Rob Sinclair: Is he off to Aldershot for good?

Rob Sinclair joined Aldershot on a one month loan deal earlier in the week. Sinclair has struggled with injury this season and has not made one appearance for Stevenage since the end of last season.

Sinclair was one of the success stories of Boro's inaugural season in the Football League.

Boro confirm Winn & Sinclair deals

As we told you last week, Stevenage have signed midfielders Peter Winn and Robbie Sinclair ahead of their first season in the football league. Winn signs for the club after his release from Scunthorpe United, while Sinclair arrives from Salisbury City. News of the Winn deal initially came from the Gateshead site when they confirmed that he had turned down them to sign for Boro.

That is the rumour doing the rounds at the moment and it looks pretty certain that the former Luton midfielder will be signing for Stevenage from Salisbury City. Sinclair is a midfielder who can play on either flank as well as down the middle. He was one of the more recognisable players on Salisbury's books this season with his long hair and if I recall correctly was labelled "a gypo" by the East Terrace.

Stevenage carried on their unbeaten run in the Blue Square Premier as they recorded a 1-0 win away at Salisbury City thanks to a Charlie Griffin strike just before half-time. Boro are now just 2 points away from Oxford United, who were held at home against Barrow today in the FA Cup 2nd round.

Graham Westley has already completed his first piece of business of the summer, securing the signature of Salisbury City striker Charlie Griffin. The Bath born forward was out of contract at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium and moves to Hertfordshire on a free transfer. Griffin had a prolific season in front of goal for the Whites and wasn't far away from beating Steve Morison in the Blue Square Premier goalscoring charts.

Our first match comes from Haig Avenue and is between a Southport team which a little surprisingly is still in the play-off places at the top of the table and a Newport County team which has seen a recent run of improved form lift their club out of the relegation places at the foot of the table.

This weekend, the FA Cup reached its final qualifying round and the introduction of the clubs of the Blue Square Premier adds a little extra spice to the competition as well. Midweek Non-League Videos: The Blue Square South Title Race

There was a full round of matches in all three divisions the Football Conference this week, and it looks like being a very tight season in the Conference South. Today, there are just ten points between the team at the top of the table and the team in fourteenth place, and there seems little between the top three sides, with others lower down the table looking more than capable of joining them.

The Twohundredpercent Pre-Season Predictions: Conference South

There is a lot of money flying about in the Blue Square South this season as the teams jostle to fill the void at the top left by Braintree Town and Ebbsfleet United. The gap between those with a decent budget and those without seems to be growing a bit more in the southern half of Step 2 than in the northern half.

On Saturday, Weymouth beat Salisbury City by two goals to nil in the Zamaretto League Premier Division. It was a significant moment for the Terras. Having started the season under a ten point deduction for entering into administration towards the end of last season, they had spent the whole of this season rooted to the bottom of the table but this win their third in the last four matches lifted them out of the relegation places for the first time this season.

It's time again for our weekly round-up of non-league videos, which this week focusses on the last sixteen of this year's FA Trophy. Although some of the gloss from this competition may have been lost as the Blue Square Premier has come to be the behemoth of the non-league game, there is still a lot to play for with a place at Wembley at stake these are days out that players, supporters and staff don't forget in a hurry and the winners of this weekend's matches will find themselves just three matches from a trip there.

Compare & Contrast In Sussex

Perhaps the most important thing about a financial crisis at a football club is how the club itself reacts to the situation that has pushed said club to the edge. Two non-league clubs in the south of England, Crawley Town and Lewes, have given every impression of being in a perpetual state of flux over the last few years but their behaviour this summer couldn't have been more different, with one choosing a new ownership structure which should go some way towards ensuring that its recent near-death experience is never repeated, while the other has decided to go down the opposite route and spend, spend, spend.

Match Of The Week: Leeds United 5-1 Kettering Town

After the two sides finished level at Rockingham Road a week and a half ago, it was the only draw that could have been made. Manchester United. For Leeds United, this match is an opportunity to make acquaintances again with their rivals from the other side of the Pennines. Their fall from grace has been bumpier than most, and possibly the most hurtful aspect of the whole sorry saga is that Manchester United supporters have been going whole days, perhaps even weeks, without thinking about how much they despise Leeds United.

A football club died at 4.30 yesterday afternoon. Farsley Celtic, formerly of the Blue Square Premier and more recently of the Blue Square North, had the plug pulled on them by their administrators, Mazars, after a consortium bid to take the stricken Yorkshire club over fell through and no new investors could be found.

Great performance by the Whites on Saturday, holding Torquay United to a 0-0 draw at The Ray Mac. Manager Nick Holmes was slightly disappointed with the result saying that Torquay were 'there for the taking' and that the players should believe in themselves more. This shows just how far the club has come in such a short space of time.

The FA Cup has lost some of its prestige with the rise of the Premier League but Sunday's clash between Manchester United and Manchester City was a glimpse at the drama knockout competitions can provide in a 3-2 win for United.

United were up by three goals before halftime thanks to two goals from Wayne Rooney and a stunning strike from Danny Welbeck.

Thedraw for the third round of the FA Cup was made on Sunday afternoon, with the occasion throwing out a few tasty looking ties, none more so than the meeting of City and United.

Sir Alex Ferguson will no doubt have wanted a rather easier draw, although the chance to get some revenge for the 6-1 mauling at Old Trafford might well give United an extra incentive in this game.
