Boro through to face Vale in Cup

FC Boro 27 October @ 03:10 PM EST

Boro made hard work of it, but made it through safely to the 1st round proper of the FA Cup after beating Chelmsford City at Melbourne Park. Graham Westley named a strong side, knowing that the Blue Square South side would be no pushovers. Eddie Odhiambo came back into the side on the left wing while Yemi Odubade once again partnered the in form Charlie Griffin upfront.

Boro frustrated as they are held to Wrexham

FC Boro 21 October @ 08:08 AM EST

It was a frustrating night at the Lamex Stadium last night as Boro were held to a 0-0 draw by Wrexham. It wasn't the best game you will ever see and with the rain just before the game the pitch was very slick which made it difficult to control for both sides. Boro made one change to Saturday with Chris Beardsley starting in place of Andy Drury who again seems to be struggling to keep fit this season.

Boro Roll On & Wrexham Preview

FC Boro 20 October @ 05:42 AM EST

Boro's good form continued on Saturday with a hard working win against Salisbury. Boro lined up with Bostwick one again at centre half and Yemi Odubade continuing up front alongside former Salisbury man Charlie Griffin. Once again Lee Boylan and Mitchell Cole missed out through injury and they were joined by Eddie Odhiambo who picked up a knock last week against Hayes & Yeading.

Salisbury Preview

FC Boro 16 October @ 09:43 AM EST

On the back of Boro's biggest win of the season so far last Saturday, we entertain in-form Salisbury at The Lamex Stadium tomorrow. It may prove to be a tough game however history is on our with 4 wins and one draw in our last 6 meetings. Our last defeat was back in March 2008 when Matt Tubbs scored a last gasp winner to deny Peter Taylor's team from going second in the league at the time.

PSIS thinking about a quick return

Jakarta Casual 01 October @ 04:37 AM EST
They got relegated last season. But it was only 2006 when PSIS were puching Persik Kediri all the way for the Indonesian title. But the days of I Koman Putra, Harry Salisbury, Gustavo Hernan Ortiz and Emmanuel de Porras are nowt but a distant memory for the fans of the PSIS who next season will line up in the Premier League, Indonesia's second tier. Girls with Game 30 September @ 05:29 PM EST
The second season of the Westfield W-League will be different, no questions about that. But how and why? And what will Westfield Matildas coach Tom Sermanni be looking out for?

More stylish women revealed

Girls with Game 23 September @ 04:41 AM EST
So last week here I introduced you to Grace Gill, the face of Canberra United for Westfield W-League season two. Now Football Federation Australia have introduced two more, Adelaide United's Angela Fimmano and Brisbane Roar's Jenna Tristram.
And it seems the FFA are onto this reporting women's football for women thing, the Q&A's with both Tristram and Fimmano include questions about their favourite Westfield store and in the 'fast five', if they prefer heels or havaianas. Click to continue reading...

Admission prices | No money | Youth win

FC Boro 04 September @ 04:40 PM EST

Crawley are the latest club to introduce 'variable' admission prices after Kettering and Stevenage's new price initiatives' in the last 12 months. Crawley have 'banded' their games so that games against teams like Histon and Salisbury will be a lower price than 'premium' games against the likes of Cambridge and ourselves.

The rumour mill...

Girls with Game 29 August @ 06:40 AM EST
With so very little official news around, except for Canberra United, what's a girl to do to find out what's happening in the W-League? Welcome to an unofficial, but credibly sourced gossip sesh. So the rumour I heard today? That Matildas striker Katie Gill will play for Perth this season.
Perth already have Lisa de Vanna, the source also said she's staying, so that could be the Matildas current starting strike pair in one team. Click to continue reading...

Lopo’s View

FC Boro 24 August @ 12:31 PM EST

It's been an interesting several months, a mixture of high, low and unbelievable moments which seem to be a regular occurrence as a Boro fan!Â

We finished last season well with a long unbeaten run and another Trophy win. However the 4th May 2009 will not be a day to remember as we surrendered a 3-1 lead at The Abbey.

Still unbeaten?

FC Boro 11 August @ 06:16 PM EST

But that's about it after another disappointing performance saw Stevenage leave Church Road, with just a point. Hayes & Yeading were the better side throughout and if they had taken their chances in the second half it could of been the home side celebrating their first 3 points in the Blue Square Premier.

Pre-Season 2009: Reviewed

FC Boro 03 August @ 02:34 PM EST

A 0-0 draw away at Woking on Saturday afternoon signalled the end of Boro's pre-season campaign for 2009. Graham Westley's side played 7 games, winning 3, drawing 2 and losing 2. This year's campaign has been a lot different to previous pre-season's at Broadhall Way with the team being much more settled and no trialists featuring at all.

PSIS ditch first team squad

Jakarta Casual 05 May @ 12:51 PM EST
PSIS Semarang have announced they are dropping their first team squad and will see out their fixtures using Undr 21 players. The side who are currently bottom of the table have said the money pot is empty and they can't afford to keep paying the high salaries to the first team squad.
Understandable really as the current first teamers have managed to lead the once proud club to bottom of the table where they have just four wins and 14 goals to their credit all season. Click to continue reading...

Boro up to third as they record their 4th straight win

FC Boro 27 January @ 07:04 PM EST
It wasn't the greatest of performances at Broadhall Way, but Graham Westley's Stevenage side dug deep tonight to beat Kettering Town by 2 goals to 1. It shows how much the team has improved in recent months as I'm sure back in November, Boro would of lost this type of game tonight. Kettering were as [. Click to continue reading...

After an unbeaten run which extended to 10 games thanks to the 3-0 win over Barrow and progression into the semi-final of the Herts Senior Cup, Boro make a trip to Wiltshire to face Salisbury City. Boro are one of the form teams of the league, while City are struggling at the other end of the [...] Click to continue reading...

Boro see off Salisbury

FC Boro 18 October @ 01:06 PM EST
Stevenage saw off Salisbury as they bounced back from that defeat at Eastbourne with 3 points. The 2-0 win puts Boro into the top ten for the first time this season, but it was far from convincing against a Salisbury side lacking confidence. Graham Westley picked his strangest team of the season so far electing to drop [. Click to continue reading...

Conference Analysis -- August 25th

Football Objective 25 August @ 06:02 PM EST
McEvilly...thankful for the slimming effect of stripes
Salisbury head the nascent Conference table on goal difference over Cambridge. Only two sides are unbeaten through five games and every team has at least one point.
Salisbury's success, as can be seen from the tables below, has been based on making the most of their attempts and the good goalkeeping of James Bittner. Click to continue reading...
