We could probably spend a day listing all the difference between our traditional North American
sports leagues (MLB, NFL and NBA) with the way European soccer clubs are run, or in fact almost all
leagues around the world are run, aside from MLS. For me, one of the key differences is roster
construction.
With the Don's latest state of the league comments about the importance of the Concacaf
Champions League (CCL) and the extra load that it puts on teams that do well in the MLS standings,
I've been thinking about what the league could do. Let's start out with the commissioner's problem
description:
We need to prove that we can be among the best teams in the region, and that means beating
Mexico.
It would be foolish to have too strong an opinion either way on the hiring of the new TFC coach.
What he has done in the past may be a foundation, but right now Preki puts a face on the 2010
season and the countdown has begun.
