Southampton The Saints' rise under Nigel Adkins has been mightily impressive, and they are still in
a position to 'do a Norwich' and gain consecutive promotions up into the Premier League, but the
wheels have fallen off a touch recently. In fact, Southampton have won just of their last six
games, including defeats to Bristol [.
[F]ollowing our assessment of the Premier League potential of the current Southampton squadback in
October, the Saints have opened a three point gap at the top of the Championship table. Just behind
them sit the club many tipped to enact a rapid response to relegation in May. West Ham have yo-yoed
somewhat over the past decade and it would certainly be no surprise to see them occupy one of the
top two slots come the end of the season, especially with a manager as experienced as Sam Allardyce
at the helm, as well as a defensive coach of no mean reputation in.

This weekend's fixtures look like a pretty sedate set on the face of it. Leeds' terrestrially
televised trip across the shires to meet Burnley and what may be the most pathetic grudge in
history, Saints versus Seagulls, are worth keeping on the radar perhaps, but otherwise I can't help
but be drawn down the leagues to the two derbies west of Bristol.

In which Marcelo Sarmiento of Union de Santa Fe (Southampton fans may recognise the name,
Sarmiento briefly didn't play for Saints back in 2006) goes in for a challenge with Newells Old
Boy's Fabian Munoz, only to look down and find his foot pointing in what can only be described as
'the wrong direction' if you'll excuse the medical jargon.
Duluth Minn. 11-5-11 Courtesy of Billy Fay and UMAC athletics.com The St. Scholastica women's
soccer team edged the University of Minnesota-Morris Cougars 2-1 at Saints Field on Saturday to win
the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament Championship. The victory over the Cougars
(11-7-1) gives the Saints the conference's automatic qualifier to the national tournament.

'Goal celebration no. 91′ in PES 2012 is a cut above the same old bilge animations Konami have
been using for years on end now, in that it sees your man (Lionel Messi in this case) perform a
flawless rendition of Jacko's trademark Moonwalk...
Saints be praised, there's also a 'Smooth Criminal lean' to unlock as well.

Saints be praised, Barcelona have officially opened their search for new Camp Nou cheerleaders
today and have chosen to mark the occasion by releasing a vaguely 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'-esque
viral chock-full of Catalonia's finest pom-pom twiddlers to get your juices flowing so to
speak.
Southampton may be an unlikely breeding ground for top Premiership talent but as all Spurs fans
will know, they gave us PFA player of the year Gareth Bale while apparently there are some
ex-saints plying their trade up the road.
With that track record, it's no surprise that the top sides are keeping tabs on the south
coast's biggest club and Spurs are believed to be preparing a move for Luke Shaw, a 16 year old who
has just broken into the first team squad at St Mary's.

Saints be praised, Al Wasl's new coach Diego Maradona has passed his UAE driving test a fact
which the Belhasa Driving Centre in Dubai celebrated by shoe-horning him in to one of the most
awkward football-themed adverts since Turkish Airlines decided it should be Ryan Giggs that was
shown chatting up the stewardess.
With my Welsh Premier League virginity now only a distant memory, I make my way west to
Carmarthen for my third match of the season. Carmarthen Town are the perennial mid-table finishers
of this league, although recent seasons and form so far suggests they could be in the midst of a
relegation battle.

Southampton have started the season in blistering form, certainly continuing their winning streak
from last season. Nigel Adkins has done a terrific job with the saints installing real belief in to
his players - the task which many fans believe McClaren has to do with the current Forest side

Still no new defenders on the horizon but, after months of umming and ahhing, Arsenal announced
the signing of 17-year old Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain just before close of play last night, after
agreeing to recompense Southampton to the tune of £12 million with a further £3 million's worth
of add-ons also due once the winger's baby teeth fall out.
After a lengthy pursuit for Southampton whizz-kid Alex Oxlade Chamberlain,
Arsenal have finally got their man following a deal believed to be worth £12m. The deal is
believed to be £5.5m upfront with the remainder tied into performance related add ons.
Chamberlain 18 next Monday helped Southampton to promotion to the Championship last season
scoring 10 goals in 40 appearances for the Saints, and is set to follow in the footsteps of former
Saints winger Theo Walcott who the Gunners snatched from Southampton in 2006.

Liverpool's left back question could be right on Kenny Dalglish's door step, as Tranmere Rovers

Dalglish has so far been looking abroad to the likes of Aly Cissokho for a new Liverpool left back,
but the Merseyside neighbours have been harbouring a budding star suitable for the role.
