Philadelphia seems to have put together a ferocious backbone in just three picks. Lori Lindsey is a
quiet but effective central midfielder, Jen Buczkowski showed plenty of potential in Sky Blue's
playoff run, and Nikki Krzysik is a proven young player.

Louis.

On Saturday, it will be Sky Blue FC making the trip to the Home Depot Center to face Los Angeles
(3:30pm - FSN) after beating Saint Louis 1-0 on Wednesday at the Anheuser-Busch Soccer Park. Keeley
Downing scored the game's only goal in the 30th minute. "I had possession of the ball, picked my

Last Saturday was a historic day. It was the date of the first ever WPS Playoff Game. It was
also the first WPSÂ game I ever watched with my wife. She is not a huge soccer fan, but we were
killing time in a hotel room before meeting friends, and I got her to watch the 2nd half. Now she
is hooked.

Soccer, but it was Saint Louis Athletica overturning last week's loss on the same field to advance

Women's Professional Soccer finished its inaugural regular season yesterday (something many
thought it wouldn't be able to do), with the final playoff berth not decided until the final
moments of the penultimate game on the schedule.

Okay, I think I have the WPS playoff picture sorted:
- Los Angeles clinched a while back and they'll host the final two weeks from Saturday.
- St. Saint Louis has clinched second place and will host the "Super Semifinal" two weeks from
yesterday.
- Two of the three games this weekend have bearing on the playoff picture (with three teams - Sky
Blue FC, Washington and Boston battling for the two available spots).

Somebody needs to remind Sky Blue FC that they're supposed to be in crisis. Days after losing their
second coach - this time to an impromptu resignation - Sky Blue won again to keep them in the
playoff race with one game left in the season. Chicago 0 - Saint Louis 2 With Saint Louis knowing
they've taken second for the season and Chicago out of playoff contention, it was the home team
putting on.

Saint Louis will wait to see who ends up finishing the season in third and fourth, with Athletica
taking second-place on Sunday. Under the Women's Professional Soccer playoff system, the
second-place club advances directly to the semifinal against the winner of the third vs fourth
place clubs. As regular season champions, the LA Sol are already in the final.

The Los Angeles Sol have clinched the regular-season title in the inaugural season of Women's
Professional Soccer and they'll host the championship game on Saturday, August 22. They'll have
just over three weeks to sell tickets to the final (tickets aren't even on sale until July 29 - I

Saint Louis used their home field advantage and a 48th minute goal from Eniola Aluko to put
themselves in second-lace in Women's Professional Soccer. "I could see the defender playing around
with the ball a bit and I knew she was a bit uncomfortable so I pressed her," said Aluko. "(Saint
Louis coach) Jorge Barcellos talked about how they would give up a ball if we pressed them.

All three of the weekend games ended 1-0 in Women's Professional Soccer. With the idle Sol firmly
in control of first-place, Boston moved into second, Saint Louis has third, and Sky Blue FC have
the final slot with their win over Chicago. Saint Louis 0 - Washington 1 Homare Sawa got the only
goal of the game 74th minute, with Washington part of a WPS/MLS doubleheader at RFK Stadium.

In a game that started at noon local time, the Los Angeles Sol's undefeated streak ended at home.
Saint Louis midfielder Amanda Cinalli got the only goal of the game in the 11th minute, with Hope
Solo needing four saves in the shutout. "The loss today is a small bump in our successful season,"
Sol coach Abner Rogers said.

Today was one of the few home games I didn't attend at the Home Depot Center, and the No. 1
ranked LA Sol suffered a loss at the hands of the Saint Louis Athletica. Would the outcome have
been different had I been there? Probably not but I still feel a bit guilty.
Despite the loss, the Sol remain in first place the WPS standings at 11-2-4 (37 points), while
the Athletica tighten their grasp on second with a 23 points and 7-5-2 record.

It's soccer moms and daughters day in Carson with the unusual kick off at noon at Home Depot
Center.
If the 11-1-4 Sol win today against the the 6-5-2 St. Louis Athletica they will host the WPS
final Aug. 22.
With five weeks left in the WPS regular season, the Los Angeles Sol have opened up a 17-point
lead in the WPS standings.

the Wizards and Atlas ended in a scoreless draw, in a game that left alot to be desired for an
international competition.

After drawing with Chicago on Wednesday, the Los Angeles Sol put another game in the win column on
Sunday. Saint Louis Athletica joined them with a shutout of Sky Blue FC. Los Angeles 3 - Washington
1 Los Angeles took the lead in the 14th minute through Camille Abily and held it through halftime.
Washington answered back when Sonia Bompaster scored in the 58th, but the Sol responded quickly
with another goal from Abily in.
